Grip It ‘N Rip It Custom Golf Club Repair

Best bang for the buck and best experience I have ever had with golf equipment. I had been struggling for some time with getting good consistent hits with my irons. I stopped by this shop last week on a whim and spoke to both Mike and Aljoe about my issue and showed them my clubs. They took some measurements, looked at my swing, and were able to immediately diagnose my problem. Unfortunately the clubs I had couldn’t be adjusted the amount needed, so Aljoe gave me a great deal on a set of forged irons that they customized to my swing.
All I can say is WOW. The difference in performance was staggering. I have never hit the balls so straight, long, and consistent in my life! Aljoe has a great understanding of what works, and also gave some great advice on my driver swing that helped improve my slice. It was very clear to me that his priority is helping people increase their enjoyment of the game of golf.
I live about 45 minutes away, and going forward will be making this shop my 1^st stop anytime I am looking to change up my golf equipment.

Mike helped us a lot by fixing my irons so they were flat and helping us pick out new grips. The staff are very friendly and helpful I highly recommend this shop for any golf needs.

I’m so happy that I found this place. Being a beginner golfer, Aljoe was able to provide me with excellent, unbiased advice. I was also able to have my irons regripped the same day. Actually, the regripping took about an hour and I was able to practice putting in his shop while I waited. His knowledge and passion for the game was clearly evident and I can already see the benefits of his advice on the range and on the course. I highly recommend Aljoe and his shop for your golfing needs!

I would not recommend this place to anyone. What a «rip off «. He will grip it but he will also rip you off. Horrible customer service.

Great local golf shop. Customer service is great here. He gives an honest opinion and doesn’t try to break your bank. After getting my clubs regripped and my lie set, I’ll come back here to buy some used clubs and get fitted. He’s a small setup so you won’t ever feel rushed.

This place is amazing! Aljoe is the man, he provides insight on the type of equipment that will fit your game best. He also refers you to other stores in case he doesn’t have what you need, making him a great resource. I recently brought him some irons I purchased at Golfsmith to verify the lie angle which was supposed to be standard. He fitted me and verified that every club was different and needed to be bent. I highly recommend stopping by this place, it will give you the piece of mind that you have the best setup to fit your game.

I had just picked up a new set of irons from a retail shop and wanted to put them in play for a moderate money game that I had scheduled for a Wednesday. Before doing so I knew I had to dial them in for competition so was looking for a golf shop close to Vallejo that could adjust the lies for my swing. I came across Grip it and Rip it and arrived early in the morning before my game where I met AJ who agreed to work with me and make the adjustments before my 11 am tee time. AJ was outstanding and a true professional who took the time to get each club fitted to my swing and gave me the confidence that I had the right set up before my round. Not only did he adjust the lies he also gave me a nice set up tip for my set that was a good mantra for my day on the course «bend those knees when you are playing shorter shafts».
I was very impressed with the shop and really enjoyed working with AJ. I have been to Keplers in Walnut Creek a number of times in the past but these guys are superior and because of their size are able to give you personalized attention that makes the drive to Pinole totally worthwhile.

From regripping, being fitted to my irons, wedges, putter, driver, 3wood it has given me great fun of rounds with friends and family. While my first visit there was a impressive, cause of willing to share the knowledge of the game. This a golfer barber shop. I will be referring my friends and family to the shop, cause of the fairness and reasonable. Come in and check them out. THANKS AJ and MIKE

The owner AJ is great. I’ve tried to get work done at the corperate golf stores before and its a joke. Grip it has done any work for me the same day.
This is a great place to find slightly used clubs and shafts in near perfect condition, just like new at great prices. AJ can also helped guide me on buying clubs from ebay. I was able to buy a set of New Mizuno Mp-h4’s on ebay at half MSRP that were the wrong shaft and fit for me, AJ did a shaft swap and fit the clubs to my desired specs and I was still out the door for $ 400 under MSRP.

Just came from my first trip to Grip It N Rip It, hands down best experience I’ve ever had buying a golf club. They gave me a great deal on a new Scotty Cameron and helped me replace a lost pitching wedge (fitted and adjusted for free). While I was there he checked the fitting on my irons, tightened my driver and gave me lots of great advice about other clubs and shafts I was interested in. I can honestly say I won’t buy golf clubs or equipment anywhere else. These guys are the best!

Ive been playing golf (badly) for years. I cant hit a driver, and since shoulder surgery, have lost yardage and flexibility, adding to my poor play…
I went in to Grip It and Rip it on the off chance that they could maybe show me how to hit a driver without a banana slice, maybe waste some money on another club I don’t need and cant hit.
Alan took one look at my bag and my swing, and did me wonders. He explained that, with my lower swing speed I might benefit more from graphite shafts, rather than steel like I had, but after getting warm, he said I could actually stick with the steel if I was okay with them. Then, EYEBALLING me, he could tell my arms were longer than average and when he checked, he was spot on — my clubs needed the lie custom fit to me. He suggested all I really needed was to regrip my set and adjust the lie — he could do all the work for under $ 175. That’s like the price of a single nice club or putter. So why not? That, and he gave me some great advice on ball placement when hitting my driver.
BEST DAMN MONEY I EVER SPENT!!! Went out the next day and stunned my friends and myself at how much my game improved! I birdied a par 4 from 50 yards out with my 56* wedge, and the rest of my game was way improved. I even used my driver the entire game! I haven’t hit that thing in two + years…

The only question I have is why would I go anywhere else. The owner fitted me with the perfect flex shaft and I’m hitting the ball as far as ever. I also had some grips put on and he did them while I waited. I practiced on his putting green while I waited. It didn’t take him very long.. My wife also bought a set of clubs from him and she is hitting the ball better than ever. Since she is tall, she has always had a hard time hitting short irons and wedges, so he put one inch extensions on the shaft. She’s now hitting them better than she ever has. Obviously, I would highly recommend this shop.

Great guys in this place. Had just finished my first game of golf and knew I needed a decent driver — headed into the shop on the recommendation of two friends and got set up with an incredible used club at an even more incredible price. Instead of pressure and upsell, I got honesty, pragmatism, and an awesome deal.

AJ was amazing. Both guys super friendly from the get go. I needed a new grip for my driver and a new 3-​wood. Mike changed my grip and AJ spent time with me learning the speed of my swing and what type of club would best suit me and my swing. This has definitely been a great find and appreciate everyone who has given a review of this shop, I wouldn’t have found it otherwise. They have a loyal patron for as long as they aer in business. I bought irons from these guys at a ridiculously good price. With the price of my clubs came a free fitting, and after one round, I am blown away at what a huge difference this has made to my golf game. AJ was extremely friendly and while I was getting fitted, he gave me some tips that helped me with my swing. Incredible experience. These guys will get the first look when it comes to golf repairs and purchases.

Very helpful with everything golf. Got a new grip for my old putter and finally got my irons fitted! Very down to earth and the opposite of pushy. Great local shop that is a golfers friend!

AJ and Mike are amazing!!! I was looking for Winn grips on eBay and found some really great prices, then saw grip it and rip it on San Pablo street while eating breakfast. I thought I should stroll in and see what they offered. Come to find out the grips were exactly the same price and LOCAL! While talking to AJ, he fitted my hands and got me the right size grips I needed. I would have never got that thru eBay.
A few weeks later I had been tweaking my golf swing and hit a huge slump. I was hitting everything off the toe, my grip got strong, and I was topping everything. I had lost my confidence. So after blowing thru the grip on my 6 iron, I went to get it re gripped. While there, AJ recommended a fitting. The first club free of charge. I thought why not? He put his tape on the sole of my club, I took 2 swings, handed the club to him, and right then he told me exactly the types of shots I was hitting and explained why. At that point I was sold. Do um all!
After getting my 6 iron regripped, my buddies 7 head put back on the shaft, and getting all my clubs fitted, I walked out paying only 100 bucks. If that’s not a deal, there isn’t one! Not to mention I walked in 15 minutes before they closed, and it took 2 hours to do the fit. ALL GOLFERS IN THE BAY AREA NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS PLACE!!!

My wife bought me a loft wedge for our anniversary here. She raved about them. They even gave her a great discount on a lil driver for my 3 yr old. After a few rounds with the wedge I decided it was very similar to one I already had.
I returned to the store hoping for an exchange. They were more happy to accommodate me. I exchanged it for a Taylor made burner 3 wood. Great club. I’ll return because of the service and friendliness. Thanks guys!
