Such a beautiful park that is hidden in Pinole. I think it is great to have so many aspects in location, that is here at this park. There are picnic tables, trails, and a great dog park.

For a quick hike I head over to the Hazel Downer-Thornton Picnic Grove at Pinole Valley Park. While this park has picnic tables and restrooms for public use, I come here to hike up the hill. The trail is lined with bay laurels, coast live oaks and some poison oak(so keep a watchful eye!). Early morning hikers beware, lots of spiderwebs line the trail and your face may get attacked. One neat thing about this park is that it connects to the Sobrante Ridge Regional Preserve. I haven’t made way into the Regional Preserve yet, but it is one of my goals. For a quick hike that isn’t jammed with other hikers, I recommend this park.
