Comfort Inn

Walking into the lobby I was greeted by large figures of Abraham Lincoln and a Yankee infantry soldier. Tennessee was devastated by the Federal occupation and I found this display offensive and out of place in a commercial establishment. The owner should keep their political leanings out of their business!
OK…so much for the political jab. The room was clean. Sparsely, but adequately furnished. There was no WiFi. The queen size bed was comfortable, which was my primary concern. The shower was a tub enclosed by a curtain that needed to be replaced. Half of the tub was taken up by a handicap shower stool. The shower water pressure was insufficient to completely rinse shampoo from my hair.
The free breakfast offered biscuits, waffles, bagels, cereal and, what I suppose were «scrambled» egg patties… obviously instant eggs (which I passed on) and a white glue that was supposed to be sausage gravy. The biscuits were hard and stale. (I believe they were originally the hardtack the chef took from the Yankee soldier’s haversack) The «gravy» was a flavorless white goo that failed to even soften the biscuits to an edible state, much less add flavor. My waffle was so tough I resorted to tearing it into smaller pieces with my fingers to fit in my mouth. To sum up the free breakfast, I gave up trying to eat it, had a cup of okay coffee and went to MacDonald’s at the next exit and had a sausage biscuit. I won’t be spending another night at this place!

Nice place. On a long trip from MI to FL we stopped here. It was a little pricier than we wanted for just someplace to sleep but there weren’t too many choices around. Turned out to be a very nice hotel, very clean, friendly staff and the kids loved it. Really historical place, lots of «American picker» type of artifacts. The shower had very great water pressure (important in my book). And the breakfast was awesome, they had a waffle maker, eggs, sausage, biscuits, muffins and bagels, fruit, yogurt and several cereals, and drink choices. We would highly recommend this hotel!
