Good stick to your ribs kind of breakfast with a friendly staff. I really enjoyed my eggs benedict, it was so filling that I didn’t need lunch. :) The bar next door looked intriguing, I’ll have to check it out next time I’m around.

Menu is simple. Food was delish. People were super nice. Our group of 8 took over this place for a 1hr+. We stayed and a friend’s family cabin and the trip itself started off cold and interesting so it was awesome that this place was here because it provided us with warmth and food and a flushing toliet(long story). Anyone can make a good breakfast, but not everyone is nice and these folks were so friendly! Stinks that they weren’t open on Monday because we really needed coffe, but all in all we will be going back!

I used to live near this place and absolutely loved it! I believe its been closed down some, under new ownership, etc, and not sure of its current disposition. In my remembrance the food was rugged and tasty and the decorations, including many«collections» could keep you occupied for some time. If you find it open and they still have an item called«Wet Shoes» on the menu, you’ve got to try it with a big appetite. Its made with their famous Texas Jailhouse Chili as are several dishes. The bar always looked comfy and fun and there was Karaōke certain nights. Not many people know their is a B & B right behind it and that is how I originally found the Deer Ridge Inn. If it returns to anything like I last experienced it, I’d give it 4 stars instead of 3.

note: this place went under new ownership last year, but they kept the spirit of this institution alive. after many a backcountry trip i have pulled in here cold wet tired and hungry and i have been warmed with hospitality and great food. the menu changed a bit from margory to bobby, but even if they say they are closed on a weekday, she will often find something for your tired and hungry soul. this place is only 30 minutes down the hill from kirkwood so when you are tired of the speeding peloton of audi’s on 88, pull into the deer ridge and have an irish coffee and relax while the others are getting tickets from the CHP which heavily patrol right after kirkwood closes.
