Winter special is January till March on Monday and Thursday BOGO on the sushi rolls. 4 rooms are enough for three people! Delicious sushi just outside of Pisgah!

We’ve been patronizing Sora since it opened. We are huge fans of sushi. All the food, Japanese and Thai, is great — and the servers and managers greet us by name. Our favorite is Wasabi Shrimp, and continue to make this a regular for special occasions. They run a special Mon & Thur, Jan into Apr — a BOGO on the sushi rolls, so we’re there nearly every Monday during that period. We’ve found that reservations really help eliminate the wait Apr thru Dec.

we went here the other night after we completely underestimated a hike in Pishga National forest and i couldn’t make it home to cook anymore… so sushi it was. i m picky with sushi and literally eat it a lot and did already all over the world. we got greeted friendly and seated promptly and they brought us water and the beer i ordered right away. oh i liked the local beer option, nice touch. we ordered two appetizers the one(dancing girl?!) was pretty fabulous and the other one was unexpected, don’t remember the name but it was grilled fish with a sauce to dip in that i didnt really like. then sushi. the usual, i guess. we ordered a sweet potato tempura roll, that came as a asparagus tempura roll, but we didn’t complain, we like asparagus also. then some nice other rolls and 8 pieces of sashimi. it wasn’t bad, don’t get me wrong, it just wasn’t special. good for the area, but for example on the west coast or las vegas really on the lower end. i don’t know how they store the fish but there was just no real taste. in the rolls was only fake crab used and a lot of fish was cut in little pieces and mixed with some mayonnaise stuff. i don’t really like that i like it when they have less ingredient that have lots of taste. the sashimi was tasty but kind of lame, fresh yes but just not special, and kind of laying down in a mountain of daikon, not the normal pretty array or things like in other japanese restaurants. i actually don’t know if the people are japanese, they have Thai food on their menu also. don’t get me wrong if i get into the same situation i will for sure go back but its not a OMG place.

OMG! We were desperate to not eat country fried anything so we took a chance on this little hidden gem in a strip mall plaza after reading some Unilocal ratings. Boy were we pleased! We met some folks who made some excellent recommendations. We had the Sushi Waterfall(tuna, avocado, mango, cilantro, peanuts, rice and a sauce).it was beautiful and delicious. We also had a Geisha Roll(crab, avocado, tuna and seasoning). Both were unlike any sushi we had ever had. Further, they serve this amazing small portion of crab salad(combination of crab, romaine and panko)…good enough we ordered some to go for a snack later. We are going to come back when we return to town.

In a pinch, the majority of food is good, but service is not their strong suit. Some dishes are really off, like the yaki soba.

This is my favorite place to eat after a Mtn bike ride in Pisgah. The lunch bento box is an awesome value. I usually get the salmon but my friends tell me they are all good. #yes

We had the Sushi for two. My wife really liked the spider roll. She loved the Godzilla roll. The sushi was very tasty. There was a tuna roll that was really good. On a Saturday night it was really busy. Service was fast and efficient! Prices were very reasonable. Really enjoyed it and hope to have a chance to return.

The food was decent, but my service was pretty bad. I came in for lunch one day after a hike. The place wasn’t very busy. It took a second before my hostess sat me, because she was texting on her phone. After being sat at the bar, I found out my hostess was going to be my server as well. I was messing around on my phone some, but I didn’t see her for quite some time after sitting down. Finally I received my water and was able to order. I drank my wine glass full of water instantly, assuming it would be refilled. I waited and waited until my food came out and I nudged the water glass. She never came back to refill it. I literally had to get up and ask for more water after I saw my server sneaking in a snack back behind the sushi bar. Completely unprofessional. The food wasn’t that bad, but very doubtful I’ll ever go back.

I’ve tried just about everything the sushi menu has to offer, and love almost everything they offer. The best in my opinion are definitely the tuna roll, sumo roll, green river roll, and the octopus sashimi and sweet shrimp sushi! I would not reccomend the salmon skin roll or the sea urchin sashimi

Seriously the best sushi around! So fresh & delish! Plus, the wait staff there is phenomenal. This is our top choice when we go out for sushi. Love the spicy scallop roll.

This place is amazing! We had just stopped and viewed Looking Glass Falls when we were heading back and wanted to stop for lunch. From the outside, it doesn’t look like much. Just a tiny restaurant in a shopping mall strip but they surprise you with the food and service when you enter. My husband got the hibachi steak and I got the hibachi shrimp and they were both AMAZING. The rice and shrimp just had so much flavor. My only complaint was that they were smaller servings than most Japanese restaurants. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I also got the«Blushing Geisha» mixed drink and it was strong! Def worth a visit or 12. ;)

Had a late lunch at Sora yesterday. Different menu(mostly sushi, hibachi and Thai dishes) again our food was wonderful. I had the shrimp Thai(Panang) and my husband had tempura. Both were delish and service efficient. Love this place

This is a nice sushi bar with excellent food and a friendly staff. We are quite fond of Annie. HOWEVER, THEPORTIONSAREVERYSMALL& too pricy for what you get! We just got a to-go order: spicy crab salad & the Paradise Roll,(tempura shrimp, banana, lobster salad, in soypaper with mango sauce). This roll was $ 12& is a chef’s special, so you are expecting something special. Even though the taste was very good that’s all we got was«a taste» We were disappointed at the small set of just 6 rolls in our to-go box. Yes, we often pay that for a sushi roll choice in restaurants, but the plate is long, gorgeous, and you generally get 10 – 12 impressive rolls. always enough for my husband and me to share and be very satisfied. But we literally got 6 pieces that would pass for an appetizer not an impressive special roll. Now let’s see, if my grammar school math serves me right that’s $ 2 apiece! Please, it wasn’t THAT special! We also got the spicy crab salad to go and its a simple but very tasty dish, lettuce, shredded crab, tempura crunches and spicy mayo. Usually they put black sesame seeds on it,(forgotten this time though, it seems). As one reviewer stated you get a complimentary portion at the sushi bar. But their to-go portion, again small, is $ 6. We spent $ 25 on two tiny salads and a 6 pc roll, period! We were still hungry after we ate. We’ve gone to this restaurant for several years, but we find ourselves each time we return taking a break from it and eating elsewhere because of their tiny pricy portions. I’d truly love for them to read this review and either be more generous with their plates or price these small bites with appetizer prices. I do oftentimes order from the appetizer section in restaurants for reasons of portion and price, and I don’t mind small portions at all… IF they are priced accordingly. Sora, can you hear me?

Very good sushi! Very fresh! Highly recommend the roll that’s wrapped in cucumber and has salmon in it. OMG… It was so good! We also tried the shrimp appetizers. We were vacationing in this area and we regret not eating there a second time before we left.

Well the place was packed waited ten minutes for hostess to get up and acknowledge us… we waited 15 minutes to get tea and water… I tried to order the Thai Curry Chicken, was told by waitress cook never fully cooks chicken… did not recommend. I ordered something else… my lunch hour was over before food was served… I actually walked out of establishment, leaving husband to get my food. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my dog!!! For all those that recommended it to us. .keep it. its a DUMP!!! Never will go back. My husband who did get to eat his food spent 3 hrs in the toilet sick!!! So my food which check cost us 27.49.will go in trash!!! Choose wisely, this place is discussing and undeserving!!! It needs to close for good!!!

Delightful service — Elaine was kind and attentive. One wonders how fresh sushi can be so far from a source of fisheries, but presumably anything can be flown in. Sushi artisans were inventive — a bit heavier on sauce than I might prefer, but undid the specify. Scallops sashimi was excellent. Unagi(broiled eel) not as tender as I would have hoped. Tempura sweet potato roll was tasty! All in all hard to argue for«mountain sushi». Who knew?

On yet another work trip, I depended on Unilocal while in the parking lot of my hotel. I had to chuckle when it pointed me to this small strip center. I sat at the sushi bar and was amazed at the craft of all of the sushi chefs. The food looked amazing and tasted even better. Despite being one of the two busiest nights of the week, the service was impeccable. I may try to eat here again tomorrow before I leave.

Small place that was even pretty crowded on a Monday night. Very clean, friendly staff and a menu that offered many types of Pan-Asian food. I tried a roll and the Pad Thai, which were both quite good.

Living only five minutes away from Sora always faces me with a challenge, because there is never a time when I don’t want to eat delicious sushi and enjoy great service. I have eaten at Sora at least 50 times and let me say that it never gets old. There is nothing better than the taste of fresh sushi or steaming-hot teriyaki shrimp. Visiting Sora so many times has given me the opportunity to order just about everything on the menu and I have never been unsatisfied with my meal. The restaurant is always as clean as a whistle and the sushi bar is fun. It’s always cool to watch your sushi being made and the chefs always do a wonderful job. Don’t like sushi? As I stated above, I have ordered teriyaki shrimp before. However, that is just one of the over 20 other dishes on the menu that is not sushi. There is something for everyone. Like I have repeated many times throughout this review, Sora leaves you satisfied when you are finished with your meal and you will leave wanting to come back the next day for more.
