A fun place to stop by. Beautiful setting and easy access. It’s pretty small and can be crowded at times, especially during the summer.

This beach was perfect for our family of 5. It was out of the way of most of the tourists. We felt like we had the beach to ourselves most of the day. My son even got a surf lesson form a local surfer girl. Plenty of rocks to climb and explore. Lots of rocks so wear water shoes. Lots of pretty whole shells to find! Must see!

As I am walking the beach called Shell, The mist, the air, the food, my wife & my new lease on life, make me feel well… Despite my recent spine surgery & job loss, relocation to here, this place makes me feel like I am in Heaven & not Hell… There are various creatures here big & small, from the complex down to a single wonderful cell… The fresh sea air seems to bring peacefulness & make a spell, a spell that calms my soul, as I walk through life, on a wonderful beach called Shell. I wish one & all, peace, serenity, & be well… as I drift off to sweet dreams, listening to the ocean waves & swell… ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ ~~ ~

Great area for a quick stroll. Shell Beach(as is mentioned in other reviews) is just a little district of Pismo, but it’s, like, a city… or whatever. Anyway, who cares? It’s a nice area for a quick stroll or a place to take the kids away from the crowds. There’s a large sandy park surrounded by a grassy field and a pathway that follows the cliff of Shell Beach. But, don’t let the name fool you, it’s not«beachy» like Avila or Pismo. It’s more«cliffy» than«beachy». Beautiful, but don’t plan to stay here longer than 2 hours!

It’s a nice little beach with big grain sand and.. .. shells. I had a lovely walk. I saw a sea lion, and she saw me, too. We regarded each other. The beach is accessible by stairs down the sandstone cliffs. The town is small and neat, with some beautiful homes and cute little cafes and coffee shops. It has a relaxed and casual atmosphere, and a number of motels. A great one night, look around in the morning stop.

********SHELLBEACHCALIFORNIAISANUNINCORPORATEDCITYWITHINPISMOBEACH, CALIFORNIA********* For tourists and Central Coast locals, this is one of the fun spots to come and park your car, then wander down the winding steps to the beach among the tidepools and coves. Kayakers love to launch from the gentle waters at Shell Beach, slightly protected by the natural curve of the coast from Avila Beach to the north. In Shell Beach you can fish from the cliffs, sit on a park bench and look out at the expansive ocean, explore the sandy beaches and coves, or bring a picnic basket or your take-out sandwich to dine outdoors with sweeping views. The main attraction in this little town are the vistas of the Pacific Ocean. Drive down to Ocean Boulevard where parking and a set of stairs provide access to the sandy beach below. There’s a perfect lookout gazebo in a very small Margo Dodd park. Take a picnic basket and enjoy breathtaking sunset views. It’s easy to get to from 101.
