Doug’s Auto & Tire

Uncool experience, will not be back. 10/​30/​2015: Came in for a state inspection, Chris gave a friendly greeting and my appointment time was honored, my car went straight in. After a few minutes Chris came out to inform me that my oil level was dangerously low, «barely reaches the dipstick». He asked me how long it had been since the last oil change and if I’d like them to perform one right away.
First, oil level is NOT part of the state vehicle inspection.
Second, my oil level was fine when I checked it and there are no signs of oil loss of any kind.
Third, I took it to the dealership and they agreed the oil level is perfectly adequate.
Further, what Doug’s DID NOT DETECT was a seized caliper in the back brake that was immediately noticed (heard) at the dealership.
Finally, Chris’s concern for my vehicle went only as far as an up-​sale, he did not offer to top off the oil.

I have taken my car here a couple of time and I have to say, what a pleasure it is to find an honest auto repair shop left. The owner Doug has to be the only honest mechanic I have found in my life. They fix what you came to get fixed and guess what? It was fixed! Didn’t have to go back to keep spending money on the same problem over and over. They know what their doing and do a good job! When was the last time you could say that about any repair business. I will continue to go here no matter what. Thanks Doug.

Had been given recommendation for service by dealer that I did not need, and they overlooked serious problems that did need addressing.
Went to Doug’s based on reviews and I am now a very happy customer. They took the opposite tack and let me know I did not need what the dealer was pushing and instead took care of the problem with a simple alignment.

Have now been to Doug’s Auto and Tire three times, and unlike a lot of places, NOT for the same reason! I’ve now bought tires and also a differential/​transmission service that corrected an issue common to Honda AWD vehicles.
We couldn’t be happier, and from the comments overheard from other customers while there, I’d say the feeling is widespread.

Doug is a fantastic guy and a great businessman. The company has the highest standards in ethics and a great personality. The services have always been fairly priced and done with high quality. Doug is fanatical about offering new and unique services such as a new Rewards program! Who ever got reward points from a mechanic? He also mentioned he is launching a new program to help people like me remember (get gently reminded of) their license plate renewals! Thanks for the Value-​Add Doug — that alone should save me $$$ in late fees!
