Wow! Our weekend stay at The Fearrington Hotel totally exceeded our expectations! My husband and I just came back from a romantic get-away to this special place! In our hotel room, every little detail was paid attention to: Warm towels, fresh flowers in the bathroom, lots of books, complimentary homemade chocolates, chips, candy, water, and even sherry! The afternoon tea, which is complimentary, too, was really good. The waiter served us a tower of delicious pastries, scones, and sandwiches to eat with the extremely tasteful tea. All so yummy! After having had this awesome afternoon tea in old, charming surroundings, and with a service that was worthy of a queen, we had quite high expectations to the evening dinner. And we were not dissappointed! We ordered a four-course dinner with wine pairings, and had this restaurant been located in a European capital, it would’ve probably earned a Michelin star; that’s how good it was! Their wine list was our of this world, and so was the sommellier! Hi maintained a consistently high level of both knowledge and presentation throughout the dinner. What a pleasant experience(for once)! The dinner itself was simply outstanding, and our waiter was very attentive, but still stayed in the background which we really like(instead of asking us 500 times if everything is okay). Everything was cooked to perfection, and every plate or in-between bites were a mouthful of different flavors, just like it should be, and they were all so beautifully arranged and looked like small pieces of art. And how nice it was to be just the two of us, and just talk all night, and eat the most delicious food and drink the most complex, aromatic, flavorful wines. Three hours very well spent! Right before we left the restaurant, the sommelier handed us a rolled piece of paper: the list of all the wines he had paired with our courses, and the waiter gave us two small glasses of their delicious, homemade preserves. Pretty cool! The breakfast and the service this morning was as good as all of the above, so it just couldn’t get any better! It’s the most amazing place. I cannot recommend it enough!

Spending a night at the Fearrington Inn is like stepping foot into a story book world. Upon entering the village, you notice little goats, their famously white striped cows, and an orderly town that is quite literally picture-perfect. I explored the entire town in about 10 minutes. So, you can imagine it’s very small. This is the perfect place for a relaxing night in the countryside. We arrived late afternoon, just in time to settle in before tea. I was nervous about ruining my supper, but their afternoon tea is exquisite. Served in the bar off of the main restaurant, there is a large wood burning fireplace that is just so cozy and the ideal backdrop for afternoon tea. The scones were what dreams are made of, served with whipped cream, jam, and lemon curd. The savory bites were excellent and the sweets had us in heaven. After an afternoon nap I was recharged and ready for dinner. The dining room is formal country. The food was nothing short of excellent. The highlights where the lobster and the veal. The chocolate soufflé is a must. Service was lovely. I also enjoyed breakfast the next morning and the oatmeal was the best I’ve had in memory as were the croissants and the biscuits. The food here is spectacular all around. Rooms were lovely. I stayed in room 34 that had a living room, a fireplace and a beautiful bathroom and comfortable bed. A wonderful night away.

TIP: Get on their email newsletter list! I literally waited years for the right(for us) «affordable» opportunity to try an overnight stay here. As a bidding-type-gal, this was out of the norm for me to splurge like this, but when you factor in all the extras that can come with an overnight stay(depending on the offer), it was a justifiable, and oh-so-wonderful experience! Email offer had a 20% off June special that was even good on a Saturday night! From the minute I booked it, the email contact with staff was efficient, welcoming and helpful. When we later decided to add dinner reservations to our stay, despite not having any reservations left, they didn’t give up until they were able to accommodate our wishes. Check-in is 3:00. We arrived maybe twenty minutes before and our room was not ready, but they took our bags for us and had them waiting in the room, when it was ready.(We were notified at 2:59 that is was ready while we were enjoying a drink at the Granary). We then got a brief tour and were escorted to our beautiful and oh-so-comfortable King room on the second floor. I loved everything about this room… the sitting area, the amenities that came with it, the turn-down service with port wine and truffles, plus his and hers slippers, the towel warmer in the bathroom, wonderful toiletries, the super comfortable bed… I could gush on and on!

Reading that one and only review is like«are you kidding me?» What a fool. This Relais & Chateaux property was absolutely exquisite. Beyond words. Delightful. Wonderful. Charming. And, having a pet friendly policy at this 5 star property, firmly ensconces this place into my travel arsenal. OMG. driving into the compound, I felt like I was at Auberge du Soleil in Napa. Loved the charm and the ambiance and seeing the wonderful gold emblem of Relais & Chateaux welcoming me to the lap of luxury. There really aren’t enough words to describe all the exquisiteness of this place. It’s a charming village with upscale amenities filling most every need: wine/coffee shop, Dovecote boutique, spa and store, book shop, pizza and wine area with outdoor music, gym, mid level dining option, upscale dining option and the wonderful Village with walking paths throughout nature. Oh, the walking paths were idyllic. I can’t even begin to describe the natural beauty of the winding paths, flowers, shrubs, lakes and animals. Each and every staff member was exquisite, refined and friendly. Again, I don’t have words for the fine dining experience. I ate breakfast there, afternoon tea and formal dinner. I literally still dream about the dishes months later. I simply can not wait to return. I’ve met other fellow travelers since staying there who agree with me how special this place is. If you are driving i-95, it is well worth the detour. I can not recommend this place highly enough. So delighted to have found it.

My wife and I celebrated our first anniversary here. It was magnificent! We had reserved a standard room but were upgraded to the superior suite, compliments of the house. They tea was so good that we bought some to take home. We had dinner at the Granary and it was to die for! It was so good that we just could not stop eating! Our room was great too. There was fresh fruit and bottled water waiting for us. The bathroom was magnificent with a heated towel rack. The bed was huge and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. The grounds are also very nice and peaceful, giving us a quiet place to read. My only complaint is that we didn’t stay for more than one night!

This is a rather dismal motel masquerading as a genteel upscale resort. Half of the things in our room were broken or functioned poorly(lights, dresser drawers, radio, etc.), yet instead of fixing these, the management provides a tiny white floor mat and cheap slippers at your bedside. Give me a break. The restaurant is similarly in disguise. Dishes sound superb, but are served lukewarm, barely seasoned. Virtually every dish we consumed there was a disappointment. So if you’re looking for accommodations in the area, my suggestion is to keep looking.
