The fact that Chef J’s is closed is just yet another example of how Pittsburg can’t have anything nice. So long, Pizza Shack. Pittsburg didn’t deserve you and your deliciously simple yet complex slices! Because Pittsburg sucks. Carry on enjoying your corporate, big-box garbáge.

Pizza place located on Railroad right next to Blue Saigon. Food: 4⁄5 — The pizza pizza is super thin, which isn’t really my preference, but the pizza sauce and the toppings were good. The chicken sandwich was fast. I wish they had more menu options, but it is a Pizza place after all. Price: 5⁄5 — Affordable prices. They sell pizzas by the slice as well. Service: 5⁄5 — The staff here provides great customer service. My nephew spilled his Coke all over the table and the guys came out, made jokes, cleaned up table up and we were back to enjoying our meal. Overall: 4⁄5 — Great local business with good pizza at affordable prices. Would like to see more menu options, but other than that, I would come back!

Very very tasty! I decided on a salad and my husband had a slice of the pizza. The salad was MASSIVE, perfect amount of toppings — every bite was tasty! The slice of pizza was massive too, absolutely delicious. We shared some Grit Stix which were delicious too! Great service and food!

Their sandwich bread was HECKA goood! Im picky about the sandwich I eat because my jaw locks when I chew too much, or eat hard bread, but their Cali Philly Sandwich(i think thats what it is called) tasted great! The pizza was thinner than I thought, but the chef informed us that it will be thin before ordering. Their ice cream cookie was good! Like I said, my jaw locks up when I eat something hard or super chewy, their cookie is perfect!(in my opinion). I will be ordering their sandwiches and cookies in the future for sure! Also, buy the loafs/bread they use for their sandwich.

Had a great lunch here recently. Have not had the pizza yet, but with by the slice options will be heading back next week! The Philly was amazing, and the service on point. Will definitely go back to try everything else on the menu.

Delicious! We’ve been on the search for a good pizza place that does thin crust, by the slice and cheap. Looks like we found it here at Chef J’s. They will do half’s and quarters on the pizza. So we decided to try The Cheese Monger, Cali Combo, Shroomy, and Meat Combo. They were all delicious and had plentiful toppings on them. My husband went to pick it up and said that the service was incredible. The staff was very nice and welcoming. We will be back to try more items on the menu. They do slices for $ 3.50 or slice and a drink for $ 5.50. Great deal!

Update*** Came in tonight and decided to try the Cali Cheese Steak Huge Sandwich… and it really is huge. I don’t know which I’m loving more… the bread or the fillings. The bread is super soft and really great. The sandwich is stuffed full of creamy, cheesy, sliced beef. It really is amazing. Also tried the Grits Stix and they are a great alternative to fries. Crispy on the outside and pimento cheese goodness on the inside. Second visit here and am not disappointed. Eating my dinner tonight and I can’t wait to finish my meal before writing this review. So excuse the errant thoughts as I try to type between bites. First of all Poutine? In PITTSBURG??? I’ve grown up here my whole life, went away to college, lived in LA and all over the Bay before coming back to my roots to raise my son. I travel around the world dining in the finest establishments that only my expense report can afford. And this gem is in my backyard, located across from my daily Starbuck’s…and it delivers. Being lazy on a rainy(what?) Wednesday night and the little guy wanted pizza. He’d seen the commercials on tv and I’ve read the articles so it seemed like the right time to try it. We ordered a half pepperoni, half Cali combo and an order of Poutine. It took a while to deliver and I know it’s due to the weather and when the knock came on the door I stared in amazement. This sucker was big… I’m talking ginormous. I told the delivery guy I’d been waiting to try this place and he seemed genuinely happy to hear that. BTW, I like that they use a Square type tablet to take payment. Back to the food, like I said the pizza was huge and we each had a slice. I love thin crust and this was delicious. I usually leave the ends but I couldn’t stop and ate the whole damn slice. It’s fresh, it’s yummy and it was well worth the wait. Poutine has this rich brown gravy on it with beef and an orange sauce. I’m still eating it. I went back to the website to read more of the menu and read about the chefs. I may be wrong but I believe the delivery guy was none other than Chef J. If so, Chef, welcome to Pittsburg. You do amazing work!

WOW! Chef J’s is as good as it gets! All the breads and buns that are made in house are FANTASTIC! Look out Boudin, Chef J’s has the magic touch for artisan breads. I like their breads as much as Cardinale’s use to bake in downtown Pittsburg. The food and service are exceptional too. You’ve got to have the Grits Stix and Smokey French Fried Poutine, both two of the best I’ve ever tasted. The Cali Cheese Steak was tasty and more then ample. The house made pickles on the burger were also the best Iv’e ever had. Chef J’s will definitely be one of my go to places from now on. Eager to try all their foods and breads. I’ll be buying my artisan breads from Chef J’s from now on! Took home a sour dough and some pugliese buns, they are perfectly baked, soft and delicious.

Chef J’s Pizza Shack on Railroad Ave, Pittsberg, CA. FIRST was the Stoneman Salad: Springmix with housemade black raspberry and pink peppercorn vinaigrette and topped with dried cranberries, blue cheese crumbles, candied almonds, and smoked crispy green apple slices = DELICIOUS! The 20″ HUGE hand made dough Pizza: I noticed on Unilocal you’re not limited to one type of pizza pie, SO, yeah, I did a quadrant pizza of the following so I could sample portions of each pizza: 1. Cheese Monger: signature house made sauce, cheese blends of 6 sharp and mild cheeses, including ricotta. So far the best cheese pizza I’ve had in a long time! 2. Shroomy: light sauce, ricotta and pecorino cheeses, roasted wild mushrooms, bacon, caramelized onions — it was YUMMY! 3. Cali Combo: house made red sauce, mozzarella, provolone, dry cured pepperoni, Italian sausage, onion, marinated black olives, and bell peppers — SOYUMMY! 4. Meat Man: house made red sauce, mozzarella, provolone, ground beef, Italian sausage, dry cured pepperoni, bacon, brown sugar cured ham, and Cajun sausage — must I say its YUM!!! The service was wonderful, and the owner and staff were friendly and welcoming! If you want delicious pizza made like its with family, try this place! THESLICESAREHUGE, the crust is obviously crispy and it’s delicious. Oh and I’m loving the music!!! Sounds like reggae tone :-) makes me want a drink lol, which they have, but I’m driving.

Service was great, Dennis was very friendly and thorough while welcoming us into the shop, taking our order and bringing our food to our table. I ordered the Mac and cheese bites oh my delicious! Main dinner choice was a «Cal“cheese steak with house made pickled jalapeños On a house-made rustic Italian hoagie, to die for the Bread is so fresh and the sand which like melted in your mouth. Both Dennis and Jourdan checked into make sure we were enjoying our food and of course we were. I had half of my sandwich to take home with some extra homemade pickled jalapeños …can’t waittotry something new next time! Thank you Chef J and the rest of your awesome crew

I had the«Shroomy» pizza. I don’t usually like mushrooms, but the guy making the pizza talked me into it. The Carmelized onions were perfect fit for the pizza, usually people rely too much on the sweetness of Carmelized onions to overpower the food, but they used it sparingly on my pizza which led to a symphony of flavor in my mouth. I was pleasantly surprised and will be going back for more.

I got to say the pizza is great. The cheese just melts with the thin crust and the pepperoni is cooked to perfection and the crust has its little burnt look but it’s just crunchy and taste good so u get the crunchy crust and the melt in ur mouth thin crust with cheese. I wonder if they use a regular oven or brick fire oven it sure has the look of a brink oven fire place I mean that gives u a better flavor. And I got say great deliver guy I will order again. Just needed some 2 liters lol but they ran out on the other flavors now waiting on the ice cream man to get something to drink lol. Had to order pizza while my car is at the shop and they made it happen

First, I really like their service. Every time I’ve come here, I was treated wonderfully(by different workers) and customer service is a BIG plus. Second, their pizza is great! A little on the expensive side but you’ll get the quality for what you pay for. The margarita pizza is awesome as well as the other ones I’ve had(I’m so sorry I can’t remember their names). All this to say that in the 5 times I’ve been here, it’s been a great experience! Definitely recommend this to anyone craving pizza that’s not a chain restaurant.

Good people, great place, warm atmosphere. Great to see a new restaurant on this street. The pickled veggies are amazing. They have this monthly special of baked marshmallow s’mores which are cute and fun. I like how they let you mix and match your pizza slices on one pie. Only six items on the pizza menu, which a good sign. Keep things simple and classic. Highly recommended and really seems to be owned by people who know what they’re doing.

It’s really great to see new restaurants opening in this city, ESPECIALLY if it’s Pizza! As I walked in I was greeted by a friendly woman behind the counter who handed me a menu and asked if I had any questions on anything. I ordered the«Meat Man» slice with an unsweetened ice tea, I forgot to ask of the tea was house made as well. As I paid for my food, I took a seat and embraced the nice relaxing ambience the place gives off. It’s very clean, and gives off that personal feeling that they are there to provide a great unique eating experience. I received my slice pretty fast! I was expecting it to be a bit thicker in the crust but once I took a bite, I understood what all the talk was about. I got a huge burst of flavor of the pepperoni, sausage and brown sugar coated ham! That ham was a really good touch! Once I finished my food and walked out the door I was given a cheerful«Thank You! have a nice day» by woman and went on my way! Some areas of advice I would give to help make the dining experience a little bit more enjoyable would be to add lemon in your tea and if possible provide options for a thicker crust or the original crust. I will definitely be coming back here when I am craving a good slice of pizza! Thanks!
