UPDATEASOF8:04PM12÷2÷15 Dr. Alcala called me to say he wanted to follow up about the call I received regarding my x-ray. I informed him that I actually did not receive a call. I had called myself, and I already spoke with the woman at the front desk and that she provided me with my x-ray results. I also told him that she said that she didn’t know why no one had called me yet. Dr. Alcala wanted to make sure I knew the internet was down yesterday, which I was well aware of as that had occurred shortly after I walked in and I had no problem with it. But I had already received my X-ray results. I reiterated this to him many times and he kept bringing up the wi-fi outage. Yes, there was a power outage. He also admitted they had the X-ray results early that morning. Then, he mentioned that he was sorry about how I felt yesterday. I told him I thought it was extremely inappropriate for him to call me over that because that just told me he saw my review and was only calling because he saw the review. I fully admit that I said nothing more and hung up after he continued to try to talk about it. I want to reiterate that I thought everyone else I was with yesterday was wonderful and friendly. I feel that if you are going to call me and apologize for my feelings instead of just apologizing for your own actions, then I’ve no choice but to update my review so any future reviewer can be prepared for a phone call as well. ORIGINALREVIEW(approximately 4:20PM12÷2÷15): I want to be clear: my review is based solely on my experience with Dr. Alcala and not the rest of the staff. Everyone else was wonderful. I was unfortunately very unimpressed with my experience with Dr. Alcala at Doctor’s Express. I went in per the recommendation of a few friends instead of going to the ER after my bronchitis wasn’t improving(I’m not a smoker, never have been) hoping I could get an X-ray to clear up my concerns of pneumonia. Dr. Alcala’s poor bedside manner was immediately apparent. He stood with his arms folded, laughed at my answers to his questions, often exchanged looks and smiles with his PA while I was talking, and kept laughing at me when I was trying to talk(I haven’t had much of a voice in the past week). I genuinely felt like he was talking to me like he thought I was stupid and knew nothing about my own body. I had originally been taking an antibiotic from a previous prescription but stopped taking it after a nurse and pharmacist recommended that I speak with a doctor and gave an X-ray first. Dr, Alcala asked why I stopped taking it. I explained, and he laughed again. Dr. Alcala told me he’d follow up the following afternoon regarding my X-ray, but I never heard from him and had to call myself. The woman at the front desk told me someone was supposed to call me and she wasn’t sure why no one did. The rest of the staff at Doctor’s Express was delightful, but I’ll not be returning or recommending it as an Urgent Care so long as Dr. Alcala is there.
