Alex’s Flowers

I will not go back to Alex’s…I was asked to prepare the bouquet for my friend’s proposal while I was out of town. I sent a picture of a peony bouquet we picked from Pinterest to different florists in town to shop around and Alex’s price is the lowest (others’ were around 300 and Alex’s was only 180). Usually I won’t go with the lowest price because you never know what will happen… but since it’s my friend’s money, I picked Alex. I told him this is for a PROPOSAL and the peony bouquet should look about the same size as the one in the picture I sent.
However when I saw the bouquet, my heart sank as it looked small and not impressive at all… it was only half of the size I expected and the flowers were not at their best（Even Whole Foods peonies were larger and fresher). I asked the florists if they can add more peonies to the bouquet but t they refused since the florist who made the bouquet was not in the store. They said they thought its a bridal’s bouquet and wanted to talk to me into loving the bouquet. But sorry, if I was not impressed by what I saw, it was not a bouquet my friend’s girlfriend can say no to. I asked for the owner and Alex showed up and agreed to add more hydrangeas and small roses (whatever were left in the store. The peonies were out of stock) next to the peony bouquet to make it larger. However they still refuse to rearrange the flowers as it the peony bouquet has been tied and pined with a ribbon. :(The end of the story was that I paid all the extra flowers out of my own pocket, brought the flowers home, tore the ribbon and rearranged the flowers to make it look as good as I can.
I should have just bought some followers from the farmers market and make the bouquet myself. Why bother?

Hands down the worst part of what was otherwise a beautiful wedding. I am writing this because I think Unilocal is an important resource when planning a wedding, and because I have had at least 10 separate people from my wedding tell me that I had to say something about how terrible this florist was.
Alex was a nightmare vendor from the day after we met to the day of the wedding. His verbal estimate was half of what he sent us for the original estimate, then the numbers just kept going up from there. The flowers were a joke. The maid of honors bouquet was falling apart before she even got down the aisle and she was handed the flowers at the back of the aisle. I asked him not to use spray paint to change the color of flowers and sure enough MY bouquet was painted.
My mother in law, family friend and I put together the table arrangements the day before. We had a cold storage facility booked to hold the flowers, but he told us that we could just use his refrigerators instead to avoid the added driving for him. He offered this because he had originally told us that he had a connection with the hotel by the venue that would allow him to keep the flowers there. This was all a lie. The hotel does not have cold storage for anything but food and Alex never moved the flowers out of the front of his store. I passed the store after the rehearsal dinner and saw the flowers still sitting out right where we left them.
Not only was the cost a lie and the flowers hideous, but he was also a jerk to deal with. He pressures you into signing a contract then he treats you like garbage afterwards. I wanted to change vendors but was afraid after I heard horror stories of law suits and last minute changes. All my husband and family kept saying was that if this is my biggest issue during the planning then I did pretty well. I agree but you don’t have to make the same mistake I did.
Whatever you do, AVOID Alex’s Flowers for your wedding or even day to day flower needs. My mother in law who was his biggest advocate changed her tune the second she saw what he had made.

Very pleased with the customer service and do think more florist should have the same easy personalization option. Easy breezy. two thumbs up

Our friends were very pleased with the flowers we sent them through Alex’s.

On Alex’s last day at his old location he helped us out ALOT and saved the wedding by helping us just hours before his stored closed to get flowers for the groomsman and the mothers of the bride and groom!

Found Alex’s on Unilocal and am Unilocalingly happy with him. Alex was accommodating and helpful and followed up with me when we thought there was a glitch (there wasn’t!) Flowers fresh and he fulfilled my specific requests. So glad to find a wonderful local business! You’ve got a happy new customer!

I live in Southern California and wanted to send my friend belated birthday flowers. I Googled local florists and was lucky that Alex’s Flowers is only 5 minutes away from her place. I believe I spoke to Alex himself and he was extremely helpful. He asked me what flowers I wanted, the occasion, and price range. I didn’t know what flowers to get, so he suggested a nice summer mix. The flowers were delivered within the day, and my friend was extremely happy. She sent me a picture of the flowers and said they were gorgeous. I’m so glad I went with a local florist instead of online!

I phoned to place the order and Alex answered — he’s very charming, polite, and professional and took the time to describe available flowers and make suggestions. In the end, I asked him to put together a bouquet based on what he thought would be springlike and beautiful. My mother was thrilled with the flowers, which she said were spectacular, and with the large pink bow around the package, which she said was very unusual and a beautiful, thoughtful touch. We will definitely turn to Alex’s the next time we need flowers delivered in Pittsburgh.

Just got off the phone with Alex himself. I’m on the West coast and forgot entirely about time zones. He answered the phone at 8:30 in the evening and was extremely friendly. He made it really easy to put together an arrangement in my budget with a spring theme. I am extremely grateful!

I called this guy at 7pm on a Friday night and asked for a last minute delivery. No problem he says. Excellent service. Top notch delivery time. Best florist I’ve ever spoken to. I’ll definitely keep coming back.

My boyfriend’s sister had just been released from surgery from UPMC and it was late in the day. I am in Southern California so it was a long shot but I had to try. I called Alex’s hoping to get same day delivery. Alex himself answered the phone and assured me that even though it was after 4pm, he can still get flowers to her. I was amazed to even hear that it was possible, but then for him to custom make a bouquet (with a stuffed monkey!!!) with some beautiful fresh flowers really put the cherry on top. He even called the hospital to make sure the delivery was possible. I’m pretty sure the flowers will be there before she even wakes up!
That is what customer service is all about. I love frequenting local businesses for just this very reason, customer service is exceptional.
From one florist to another, thank you for making such a late delivery happen, I know it’s not the norm and I appreciate it more than you know!
Forget the large corporate we-don’t-care-about-you chain stores, SHOP LOCAL PEOPLE!!!

Great service on the phone. Helpful in figuring out an arrangment. Reasonable prices. Delivery was prompt. My life loved the flowers. What more can you ask for?
