Another patron decided out of the blue that I had stolen from her and started physically attacking me. The staff completely ignored it. I had to literally run out the front door and call the police from another bar to get my stuff back. I had been going to this bar for twelve years on and off before that happened. Never again. This is a gathering place for human garbage anymore.

Ok. Two stars is because I have had better experiences here. This particular visit was absolutely awful! I ordered a dirty martini. Risky. But being that I had seen a couple others drinking it, how bad could it be? So I took a swig and I could have, should have, ran out the door. It was so dirty I could barley contain myself. The«container» that the olive juice came in should have been a red flag right there. Needless to say, I was sick that whole night and into the next day. Just order the bottled beer. That’s a more safe route.

Stopped in by myself on a night where a new bartender must have been getting trained. What, I think was, the manager was outwardly treating her very rudely. Felt uncomfortable. Most likely will not return.

«Divey» with a decent beer selection. Located on West Liberty Ave, locals walk here and non locals have trouble finding parking. Bagged snacks available, good amount of televisions in the walls, Bucs, steelers, and pens games on at game time. No idea if they serve food. Wasn’t there long enough, just there long enough to down a ninety minute IPA while waiting for someone to finish up their tax preparation at H&R Block down the street. Just realized this is my 500th review on Unilocal!Go me!

Ok atmosphere drinks are overpriced for the area. Service is hit or miss. Not a bad place but not my first choice.

(11÷9÷2014) We had a movie première after party at the Apple since it was nearby. It’s the dark, sticky, kind of place that defines dive(minus the dive prices). Amazing that PA lets you still smoke indoors. I’m a smoker and I don’t even smoke indoors, place is smokey. Specialties of the house is shots; there’s 3 menu boards full of them, dozens, maybe even a scores of shots — candy shots, flaming shots, chunky shots. Does that tell you anything about what kind of place this is? Bartender/owner was friendly enough, we were dropping some cash on all those shots. Got some free potato chips and a basket of mozz sticks, was the best mozz sticks EVER, and did I mention we had had a lot of shots?

Some people follow their fav hairstylist to a new salon, we followed our fav bartender to her new bar… and we’re glad we did. This place has been around since before I started driving so that’s gotta be like 30 years or so but walking in, you wouldn’t know it. It’s a smoking bar but is SUPER clean, the air was clear and we couldn’t smell any smoke. My wife smokes so don’t think I’m bashing smokers. The décor was perfect for a neighborhood bar– not too many gaudy signs like Jacks or blinding neon in every corner. There were comfortable bar stools with backs around the bar and plenty of tables for larger parties. The only negative was the men’s room– small and in need of an update but it was very clean. My wife said the ladies room was very clean also. There wasn’t anything going on at 8pm last night when we got there but I think either a Dj or karaōke was setting up in the back. We had a pitcher of beer and a couple shots. We’ll definitely be back.

Too expensive for the area. I used to be a regular here but the owner never gives anyone a break. Clientele is a pretty rough crowd.

Great friendly place! They are finally remodeling to include even enlarging the pitiful men’s bathroom :) Needs some type of set fingerfoods menu nightly instead of just a drinking hole reputation. He has some food now, but you feel as tho it isn’t really what they want to sell you and is a hastle. MOSTIMPORTANT: I hope the place is considering going NON-SMOKING! All qualtity establishments now are and he is top tier on pricing for drinks – so you almost expect the place to be non smoking — otherwise he should drop the prices by $ 1 or $ 2 across the line like all the other smokey bar drink prices are. That is the determing factor in going there most of the time. Nobody wants to stink like smoke like you do after coming out of the place – not to mention the health hazzards of 2nd hand smoke that we all know about these days. I think Rob the owner doesn’t even smoke so I’m not sure why he would want to cater to the less than 18% of Americans that still do – he’s actually doing them a disservice in making it too easy for them to keep smoking… think about it :/ Believe me, those die hard smokers will still go there and go outside like they are now doing everywhere else without a problem. But what will keep happening if he stays a smoke bar is the 88% of non smokers will continue to go other places that you don’t have that smell after coming out of the place. Hopefully he is considering doing the right thing and going non smoking so all the people that avoid the place like we do, will come back and enjoy his remodeling!

The apple is decent if you live within walking distance but nothing to write home about. Average draft selection. Didn’t get into bottles but found that the bartender that happened to be working was not overly friendly. Went for a happy hour and it was dead. Haven’t been to the Apple in years but seems like a good place to meet friends and play darts all night. Smoker friendly. I couldn’t tell the crowd that frequents it because it was so dead.

Love this place. I used to live within walking distance and that was a treat! Karaōke is a great time. The drinks are great and inexpensive and there are always great people to meet there. I miss the pickles. ;)

The Apple Inn is what it is. And that is a bar in Dormont that you could go to any day of the week and have a good time among friends,(whether it’s a Tuesday or Thursday when they have karaōke.) The Apple Inn always has decent drink specials, and the bartenders are always spot on, ready to hook you up with another drink when you’re finished with your current one. I will, for sure, continue to come to the Apple Inn and get my drink on.

It’s a bar that you can smoke in… what more do you want? If you need to feel pretentious while you are out, you can go to Diesel which is a 3 star ‘club’ The apple has dart boards and will order your favorite beer for you if you ask them. A good crew works the bar, and my buddy lives right by there so I am there too much. Perhaps pricier than it should be, but again: It’s a bar. If you are looking for the cheapest place to drink, stay home with your Keystone Ice… I like my Guinness Draught, thank you!

Standard Pittsburgh dive. They had Yuengling, Newcastle and Guinness on tap and basketball on the television so no complaints.
