Apple Store Shadyside

So I went to the Apple store to potentially consider buying some new Apple watch bands and I was looking and I overheard an apple employee at the Apple store in Shadyside upgrading a customer. And I listened to the Apple employee bash Verizon wireless and tell the customer that Verizon doesn’t care about their customers and we are only trying to rip them off… well I work for Verizon and I was offended by the way your employee who represents your company bashes another company. I assure you that I do my job with the utmost integrity and I am embarrassed for you guys at the image and perception you guys present to our mutual customers. Overall horrible experience…

Tried to buy an iPad mini tonight — no one would help me out even though someone working there was customer-​free. I was told by the customer-​free employee that I would need to wait for a specialist. I told this employee the exact model and color that I wanted and asked if they had it in stock — I practically handed over my credit card! Alas, no one helped me out. I waited… and waited… then left. Apple is known for their customer service — a thing of the past?

My iPhone touch screen completely stopped working. I waited less than ten minutes to be helped and Bruce was very patient and knowledgable. They are truly the experts!

This experience I had at apple was the best I have ever received. On numerous occasions i have been victim of/​or witnessed apple associates treating customers either poorly for their lack of understanding, or rudely because they assume everything is common knowledge when it is not. The care I received at this apple store was superb! Jeremy, Rachel, Jeff, and the employee in training (of which i can’t recall the name) were very patient, helpful, and very professional. They created a very comfortable atmosphere, one that I would be happy to come back to with any other need that may arise. Also, they kept me informed about every step that they were taking, and when they explained these, they did it with a smile and in plain english. Overall, I am very satisfied with the service I received at the apple store, and I am very happy with my new iphone 6s that they helped me purchase at the end. I made sure to let the manager know, but the Shadyside apple store by far, is the best one I have ever been to and I have had apple products for numerous years and being from out of town, I have been to almost all the stores in Northern Virginia.

I always receive awesome service at nearly ever Apple Store I’ve visited but the Walnut street Apple store in Pittsburgh (Shadyside) has solved my not always easy to fix problems with the best possible solution pretty much every time. The reps are super friendly while remaining authentic as well.

Perfectly good and expedient store. It’s Shadyside, so it’s pretty much always full but the waits are not long and the service helps you solve most all problems. [I came in with a unique one recently so it needed to be escalated]. Super convenient location off Walnut street.

They were VERY nice and helpful at this location. I was considering getting rid of my Mac because of terrible customer service at other locations. They were very understanding and gave me a free fan at the store

Great repair experience at this place. I have spilled juice on my MacBook Pro and went into the store on Tuesday. Got it fixed on Wednesday. Nice and efficient!

Dropped my Macbook air off for a repair and the guy told me it would take 3 – 5 days for repair (including the weekend). I did get it back the 5^th day although I was worried all weekend because when I called them they said they had no idea how far along my laptop was and they couldn’t even give me an estimate on when I was getting it back. However, I did get it back and they were very nice to me even though I may have been a little sassy on the phone with them.

I was having iMac desktop issues and made an appointment for the Genius Bar. I was helped as soon as I got there without waiting. Brett was able to quickly diagnose my computer issue and fix the problem, despite the fact that he had more than 1 customer. He was also able to explain the issue to me clearly so I knew what was going on (zero computer science background here).
The customer service is fantastic and is one of the reasons I keep going back. It’s incredibly easy to make an appointment first so you can minimize wait time, since the store is relatively busy no matter what time of day you are there.

My favorite Apple store in the city! I will warn you however that this is the busiest store in our area. It is always packed no matter what day of the week you visit.
The staff is always friendly and upbeat. You should schedule an appointment ahead of time, that will assure you prompt service. Although, depending on the difficulty level the wait can be at least 30 minutes.
It’s my go to Apple location, it’s centrally located in the bustling heart of Shadyside and it’s Apple what more can I say but GREAT!

I’ve had very mixed experiences at other Apple Stores in the past, but when you drop your iPhone and shatter the screen, you know where you’re headed. Luckily for me, my no-​good-​very-​bad day had a happy ending, because I got great customer service at the Pittsburgh location.
Making an appointment for my phone online was easy. When I got in from Greensburg more quickly than anticipated, it was okay, and they were able to get me started almost immediately. After signing a few forms on an iPad (including a release that if the fix doesn’t work, you’ll be paying $ 299 for a new phone– eek!) they took my phone off to the back and told me it would be ready in an hour or so. The Genius I was working with was very courteous and gave me directions to his favorite coffee shop down the street.
When I came back an hour or so later, my phone was fixed and checking out was easy. Replacement glass isn’t exactly cheap, but it did cost slightly less than the quote I got online. The Genius I talked to this time revealed that mine was the 3^rd shattered glass phone they’d fixed that day, so A) you can feel a little bit better, you’re not the only klutz out there and B) they have plenty of practice in glass repair.
I hope to NOT need to go back to the Apple Store any time soon, but if I do, I know I’ll be well taken care of.
Tip: the parking garage around the corner takes credit cards and isn’t unreasonable.

I recently had the misfortune of spilling water on my MacBook Pro and killing it. After letting it dry out for 36 hours, I tried powering it on with no luck. Fearing the worst, I took it to the Shadyside Apple Store to see if they could diagnose the problem.
Everyone there was super helpful during the entire process. In particular, Steve (mohawk guy with a barcode tatoo) and a twenty-​something girl whose name escapes me (tall, thin, with medium-​length brown hair — sorry I forgot your name!) really did a great job in quickly figuring out the issue and getting me set up for the repair process.
They even let me hang out at the genius bar to back up my hard drive (which miraculously survived) to my own external drive that I brought in.
I dropped the MacBook Pro off for repairs on Tuesday around 2pm, and by Thursday at noon, I got an email that it was back already! Overall the repair (a «tier 4» repair) cost a flat rate of $ 755 plus tax, which stung quite a bit. But they basically rebuilt my machine (new case, new display, new trackpad, new motherboard, new battery) and saved me about 400 bucks over buying an identical MBP. They also left my hard drive intact, so I didn’t have to reconfigure my entire system.
Three lessons learned: don’t be a dumbass and spill water on your laptop; make sure to back up using Time Machine just in case (I got SUPER lucky here); and Apple’s support and repair process is great. If you have to go through what I did, be glad you got a Mac and be glad you live near the Shadyside Apple Store. Thanks guys.

Set up an appointment for 7pm on a Thursday, came in at 6:30pm and was promptly directed when I asked where the genius bar was. The guy who directed me to the second employee was rude and gave me sass – which is why 4 starts instead of 5, but Tyler, a 3^rd year business major at UPitt as of January 2015 (hoping that the manager or someone will see this since I couldn’t find an employee feedback form), was very helpful and patientally answered all my questions about what was going on with my iPhone6 and with my questions regarding future triage & resulting treatment.
My phone was only a month old, if not less, and the issue turned out to be hardware-​related so it was replaced for free despite a small crack in a corner of the screen that my screen protector didn’t cover.

One star till they give me back my i Mac. They said they have to delete it or find the last 4 digits of the card it was swiped with. Well that guy sexually assaulted me and I don’t want to talk to him. Thanks s lot Apple. Yea right like I’m going to be able to get those numbers. You guys are asses. Specially that I had one to one on it and I was at there store 3 years about on there records using it. Argh. I’m so pissed.

I’m not disappointed by the hour and a half it took me to talk to a technician, and I’m not disappointed by how anybody treated me there. What I am very disappointed by, however, is the new norm of an Apple product experience. About 1 year and 3 months ago I purchased a brand new Macbook Air. Previously I had owned a black Macbook and had no problems with it in 5 years of ownership. It was by far one of the best products I’ve ever owned
I spent a lot of money on the Air and expected it to be just as durable as my previous computer. Fast forward to today (90 days out of warranty) and I got the service battery notification– so either something was terribly wrong or the battery was just oddly low on juice in its lifetime.
After the wait, the technician told me that although my battery had only really used up one fifth of its 1,000 charge lifecycle that it was verging on failure and my RAM was not recognizing her OS and that could mean an entire logic board replacement.
Thankfully it only turned out to be the former after a 36 hour wait. I talked to someone at Apple on the phone and they told me it would cost $ 129 to replace the battery. I refuted that although this computer was 90 days out of warranty the technician told me it was the battery at fault and would prefer it be replaced for free (I also saw this was a very common issue for other owners of the same model).
Long story short, as nice as possible the person on the other end of the line told me they would not replace it for free. I tried again with another person, and they wouldn’t budge either.
I told them I was disappointed they wouldn’t stand behind their products as products that should last, and I am seriously considering not buying another Apple product.
Apple products used to stand for superiority in quality, service and reliability. But recently as they’ve made their lines increasingly proprietary and only serviceable under Apple they have no incentive to make things last. Now you just ditch the old and buy the new at ridiculous cost or have it repaired at an absurd premium by Apple, or spend way too much money on their warranty to get that extra piece of mind.
I had a similar issue with my iPhone 5, when the sleep/​wake button stopped working. When I looked it up online, I noticed it was a common problem that is fixed even when you’re outside of your warranty. So I went to the Apple store, and they claimed that because my phone had a dent it was not eligible to be fixed for free and wanted $ 170 for the repair. That’s like saying because someone broke the mirror on your car it wouldn’t be eligible for a recall for an airbag. Absurd.
It’s really disappointing to see a company that used to be focused on the quality and durability of its products instead focused on extracting more money from customers and watering down the ownership experience It’s a shame, really. I no longer think of Apple as a company that builds durable products.
I don’t think I can give up the Mac experience, as I’ve had one for so long and don’t like how PCs function, but I absolutely will not be buying another Apple tablet or mobile device. And while I am buying another Mac, the quality of Apple’s products and support has seriously gone downhill. I’ve never had as little confidence in a product being long-​lasting and durable. And with the horrible software issues they have with every release, like when the Wi-​Fi on my Mavericks upgrade would stop working all the time, or my iPhone would reset with the new iOs release, you have to wonder, where is the Quality Assurance testing?
I think there are too many good options out there when it comes to mobile devices, and I’d spend my money elsewhere.

I acknowledge right off the bat this review is completely unhelpful but I really want to tell someone how much I HATE APPLE AND ALL APPLE PRODUCTS! Hate! It really isn’t the Walnut Street Store; they are as helpful as they can be, I guess, but I still hate apple.
I have a couple apple products-​an iPad and an iPod– and I am soooo sick of having a problem, going to the Apple store and them giving me the B.S. that certain things are not working because my home computer is not a macbook. I realize this is true, but really? It’s really annoying. For some random reason I can only get my computer to ‘recognize’ my iPod every fifth time I plug it in, which makes it impossible to add/​delete music and on occasion, charge it! My iPod is old, I’ll admit that, but that’s another gripe. I am not a tech geek who loves new electronics. If it plays music, I’m golden, and I resent the fact that apple comes out with a new product every 8 months which makes my iPod so obsolete that freaking iTunes will not download music to it.
God… did I mention I freaking hate apple!
The icing on the cake is when I went to get help from the «genuis bar» (yeah, uh huh) they cannot help me, told me if I call assistance I will be charged and when I asked for someone higher up the apple food chain besides the store manager, who wouldn’t/couldn’t help me, they told me there is ‘disconnect’ (her word, not mine) between the store and the website so it would do me no good. Don’t worry folks, they’re trying to ‘bridge the gap’ though. I love how they are one entity when it’s convenient for them and separate when it’s convenient for them.
God, I hate apple.
Sorry if this was little help on the actual store, but maybe at least it will be somewhat of a warning about apple as a company, and not just a particular store.

Can we just call this place a beehive? The employees worker bees?
I stopped in here to have my phone looked at as it seemed to be one of those phones that were affected by a defect. I showed up (after setting my appointment online, best way to go about doing this) and was greeted warmly at the door. Escorted to where I needed to be and then I waited. I was approached shortly thereafter and was on my way out the door with a loaner phone. I was told that I would receive my fixed phone in five to seven business days.
It actually took less than that. I had received word that my phone was in fact fixed and ready for me to pick up. I stopped back, help by the same exact person and had my phone back in my hands. Using their wifi, I set up my phone and was on my way.
No problems what so ever here.

Having gotten the new iPhone early last week, the hubby and I had to make a few trips here for some new accessories.
I have to say, given how busy this store was, it was one of my more positive ones. Everyone was super nice, attentive and helpful given the crazy amount of people that were in there.

I definitely enjoy the way out of the store it’s so clean and white and everything is so organized beautifully. You don’t have to struggle when you walk around to try to figure out what you’re looking at or what it does.
There’s lots of Apple mates which is what I like to call them, standing around to help you figure out how to work this and how to work that and the store was full of them.
I was here to pick up the latest update from my computer the snow leopard. It was really easy, all I had to do was just tell them my name and show them my confirmation number and they immediately brought out the disc for me and I was on my way.
The only downside to the store is it’s typically too busy so when I first got there I kind of stood around for like a good five minutes waiting for somebody to come and ask me if I needed any help. Unfortunately I had to track somebody down myself because all the employees look like they weren’t even interested in talking to me.
Other than that I’d say the Apple Store does a pretty good job
