I have lots of co-​workers who swear by Big Poppa’s food, but I didn’t try him until today. Short review — great lunch. A bit pricier than the neighboring trucks but bigger servings.
I tried the Smoked Chicken taco and the Pulled Pork taco, along with a side of Mac and Cheese.
The tacos were great-​soft tortillas with a healthy handful of mixed grated cheese with some slices of hot peppers and flavorful meat. I preferred the pulled pork with a slightly sweet smoky flavor, but both were good.
The Mac was creamy and decadent. A few people in line told me it mixes well with the collard greens. Next time, perhaps.
Anyway, it’s some nice BBQ in Oakland so give it a try!
