While the food and drinks at this café are just okay, its location in the U Club bumps it up into 3 – 3.5 star territory. The location is convenient to many buildings on campus, the atmosphere is relaxed enough during afternoons to get work done, and, as another reviewer mentioned, it isn’t overrun by students. This is one of my PI’s favorite places to pick up hot beverages and snacks, and I can see why. While I personally prefer Panera(or, better still, Crepes Parisiennes) for food quality, this café is more conveniently located to my building, and is definitely less busy, so the tradeoff is often worthwhile. While I wouldn’t go out of my way to check this place out, it’s a nice oasis in the middle of campus, and I will continue to visit when my PI and I decide we want a break from office meetings and a more relaxed and casual atmosphere.

A European style café — on the inside it is small, quiet, and clean. All Brioche is missing is a couple of smokers out front arguing over EU politics. I like the atmosphere here more relaxed than the other coffee spots in the area because it’s not over-saturated with students. Coffee and tea are available all day. In the morning, breakfast sandwiches made with croissants, English muffins, eggs, cheese, and various breakfast meats. During lunchtime, there are baguettes available. Brioche also has plenty of baked goods including pastries and bagels.

I highly recommend this Café/Bakery if you are a student, professor, or someone who works nearby. If that isn’t you, you don’t have any reason to come here. As far as on campus places go this one is a gem. Better bread and classic sandwiches than Einsteins, no bagels or Mex/Santa Fe/Guacafornia shit here. You want a Brie, Turkey, apple, and apricot jam baguette with a tomato bisque for $ 7.50 then you are home. Soups come out at 11, and you can also get a sandwich and salad or soup and salad for that same deal, considering a sandwhich is 5 or 6 bucks the lunch deal is a must. This is also the nicest place to eat on campus since it is in the University Club, and in the summer you can eat outside on the patio in the sun. The tables on the side all have outlets and it is only really busy during the 12 o’clock lunch rush. The ordering system isn’t well laid out but just show them that you are there and they’ll get to you. The coffee is out of a machine, I always had the lattes from the machine with the milk steamed and never drip coffee but yeah.

This is a branch of a French café chain in the University Club on Pitt’s campus. I ordered a latte which was made using drip coffee… not exactly what I was expecting but it was decent enough. The pastry selections were not as extensive as I was hoping(a few scones and pale looking bagels) but perhaps I visited at an off time(just before lunch.)
