I’ve been wanting to try Gaucho for a long time. I’ve heard so many good things, and it completely exceeded my expectations! The menu is extensive, there were many options to choose from. I went with the Parrillada Mixta so I could sample as much as possible; it includes NY strip, chorizo, and chicken with sauces and toast. Due to a minor mix-up we also ended up with the Camerones(shrimp). Everything was delicious! The food was amazing, I’m kind of mad at myself for waiting so long to try it out. We arrived around 6pm on a Friday and had a small wait to order food, and ended up sitting at the counter to eat because there were no open tables. There were only two of us so this worked out well. The service was great. We didn’t have to wait long for the food after we ordered and the servers were attentive but not intrusive. The line was growing out the door by the time we left, so I would recommend arriving as early as possible. Otherwise, you can expect a long wait(especially with larger groups). All in all it was a great experience– I can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu.

The food is great! I went on a Thursday night around 8pm and there was a bit of a line to order but didn’t have to wait for any tables. Any wait time is worth it though! I got the flank steak and it was tender and flavorful! The toast is delicious too.

Where do I even begin with Gaucho? This is one of the best restaurants in the city, and an absolute must-try if you haven’t been yet. Gaucho is a tiny little place in the Strip that you might miss if you’re not looking for it. Often times when you drive past you’ll see lines out the door at this small brick building. I actually like the way Gaucho is set up — instead of being seated and having a waiter, you just wait in line to order at the register and then go scope out a table. The employees will call out your order as soon as it’s ready. Overall I think this strategy makes the process go a little more quickly, which is good since it’s always so packed! They don’t take reservations here, but if you come on a weekday before around 6PM you shouldn’t have to wait long at all. My boyfriend and I came on a Wednesday at 5:45 and had no problem finding a table and getting our food in record time. Bring a bottle of wine with you — this is one of the only restaurants in the city that I’ve discovered that is truly BYOB(no uncorking fee!). I’ve been to Gaucho twice now and have been overly impressed with the food both times. Absolutely everything on the menu here is so deliciously flavorful; you honestly can’t make a bad choice when deciding what to get. I highly recommend the classic steak sandwich with the rib-eye. The roasted vegetables are also a favorite. I have never had such delicious grilled veggies in my life! The steak empanadas are also wonderful. The best part about Gaucho’s food, in my opinion, is the way that all the strong flavors mesh together so beautifully. You won’t find a bland dish here! This is one of those restaurants in Pittsburgh that I will keep coming back to again and again. If you haven’t been, you need to go TODAY!

Best foodie spot in Pittsburgh. Yes, the wait is long. Really long, so y’all can step out of line and go down the street to McDonald’s. I’ll wait!

Food is great. Waiting too much for my order. Almost 25 minutes to order and another 20 minutes to receive it. I really do not recommend this place if you hungry. Because the I was alone the waitress asked me to move to a smaller table, that’s fine. I got all my stuff and went upstairs and oops the other table was taken by other people. She was polite and apologized. I think they need more personals to fasten things.

As everyone knows by now, this is no longer a well kept secret in the Strip District. Gaucho certainly has a cult following and its worth the wait in line up the street! I would recommend going with a smaller group because the seating is limited and we had to wait about 15 minutes until a table opened. It’s all first come, first serve seating, but the staff was more than accommodating to assist you as you waited. They opened our wine and consistently checked on tables to be aware of the status. If you’re looking for a leisurely meal, this isn’t the spot, but you’re only coming here for the food and it is truly excellent!

This place is #1 on the Unilocal 2015 list of places to eat in america, why haven’t you been here yet!!! This place is also BYOB and the service style is different which is a nice change of pace. You stand in line(get there before 6pm for dinner) you will only have about a 10 minute wait. If you wait later you could wait for a LONG time. You place your order, find a table, get all your sauces to each on the side, crack your bottle of wine, beer, etc and relax. Servers will call your order’s name and bring it to you. The last time we were there the servers were super friendly and accommodating. I have had the meat plate with skirt steak, brussels(spicy and sweet), a filet sandwich, and a skirt steak sandwich in my 3 times there. The bread they serve the deliciously favored meat on is reason to go alone. The only thing to be aware of is they serve the meat pretty close to rare/mid rare, so if you don’t like meat cooked that way, let then know when you are ordering. I love the red sauce and the garlic one, but try them all and pick your favorite. This place really is great, so get there sooner than later :)

That chalkboard I tell ya! Ha jk… The meats!!! AMAZING! Seriously, if you haven’t been here yet. You’re missing out! I was a block away and the savory aroma was sending signals to my brain directing my path. «Come eat meat!!» Hahaha If you don’t know what to get I suggest trying the Asado Plate. It comes with 5 different cuts of meat. It’s kind of pricey but worth every penny. Split it with a friend! There are 4 different kinds of sauces. My personal favorite is the Chimichurri, a green sauce used for grilled meat! It’s fantastic! And don’t leave without getting some Alfajores. It’s dulce de leche sandwiched between two cookies. It’s like the the French macaron of Argentina!

What makes this place unique is their originality. Rosemary and beef? Who would have thought those flavors jive. Be prepared to wait a bit. It’s worth it. All Sandwichs come on a freshly baked Artisan made roll. Shazam ! Must check out when your in the strip district.

The food here is amazing, hands down. I remember when this place was a matchbox and now that the repairs and expansions are done it’s a marvelous sit in spot. Great food and great quality for the price especially the sandwiches in particular. The carne sandwich comes with your choice of type of beef and it’s delicious and tender and well cooked with tons of flavor. The ciabatta bread soaks in so much wonderful juices and is just tasty. My younger sis got the burger and it was a beast in size. Ordering is kind of chaotic and the menu is super expansive now. Expect a line out the door on Friday dinner time But once you get use to it it’s not only convenient but run by such sweet and understanding people. They know how to make your service interesting. All their recommendations hit the spot. Also enjoy the numerous sauce station. They are greatttttt.

We went to Gaucho last winter… before the expansion because I remember it being so, oh, so cold. The small waiting/dining area was probably about a 8’X8’ room. The 5 – 6 stools were against the wall and window. They also had a patio area that was open only in the summer. Anyway, I went back today and they’ve expanded. The place so huge! So glad… no more standing around and giving someone the death stare as they are enjoying their deliciousness. My friend and I got the Chuleta Cochina(pork chops), Caldo del Mar(seafood soup), Brussels Sprouts and bread pudding. The pork chops can feed 2 people — it didn’t come with a side so order one! I ordered the brussels sprouts, they were halved and then grilled(?), maybe — anyway, it was really good! The Caldo del Mar was good, there’s a little bit of a broth on the bottom with 2 pieces of bread and then Mussels/Clams and squid sat on top. We had bread pudding… it was good — can’t say it’s the best I’ve ever had but it’s solid! We were there at 6pm right before the rush at 7pm so I would definitely recommend getting there earlier. Parking wasn’t bad at the time we got in and there are plenty available on the street. I’m definitely a fan!

Wow. Phenomenal place and truly worth the wait. I had a small Lomo(6oz filet mignon) and the Calabaza Asada(roasted acorn squash, pickled cranberries, arugula, and spiced pecans). Both were delicious. The Lomo came with two crispy slices of this amazing bread that you could dip in four sauces as well as a nice side salad. But about that filet — it was absolutely incredible. The steak was so tender and the flavor had thoroughly been marinated into the meat. And the Calabaza Asada was nice too — the acorn squash formed this lovely bowl for the arugula salad. The smokiness of the pecans and the acidity of the cranberries provided the perfect complements to the sweet squash. The restaurant was packed to the door, and for a reason. I was very happy with my experience here.

It doesn’t surprise me at all that this is the #1 Unilocal restaurant and has been for quite some time. Whenever anyone visits from out of town, I try to take them here. The food is AMAZING. Seriously some of the best meat I have ever had. I’ve had a bunch of different cuts and none of them have been disappointing. I usually go for one of the steak platters, although they have sandwiches and some other dishes as well. The platters are a great value since it is a good portion of very high quality meat, a piece of toast and a small salad. I’ve occasionally gotten a side of veggies or brussel sprouts to share and YUM. Seating was a nightmare when it was about half its size, but now that they have expanded, there is much more. I have occasionally had to wait for a table, especially with a larger party if going during peak hours. I’ve driven past this place when there is a line out the door! I would try to go during non-peak meal hours, but it is worth the wait anytime! The staff are always pleasant and extremely friendly. This place is A+ all around and I can’t wait to go back for more!

Hopping place. Long line but nice to talk to people. Very neat menu, so many choices! Ordered Asado platter. A lot of steak! Sauces are delicious. Chino sauce is especially tasty, but pimento has roasted red pimento peppers in vinegar. These light up all of your tastebuds. Roasted vegetales round out the meal. Nice spot in the Strip, close to the city. Great for date night. The sauces bring out the flavor of the meat and sensations stimulate the palate. The portobello mushroom was exquisite. This is a must visit restaurant in Pittsburgh!

This place is really good. GOOD: — The FOOD is just great. Pork sandwich, roasted potatoes, grilled brussels sprouts with bacon, La Casa salad — all really tasty and well prepared. The bread on the sandwiches is delicious, especially when toasted. — The setting is fresh, clean, and un-cluttered. — The service is great. Everybody is helpful and cheerful. OPPORTUNITIES: — The entryway and ordering area is too small. Even a short line goes to the door, so you sometimes can’t really walk in. — The chalk-board menu looks nice, but is hard to read quickly. Confusing or fuzzy menus can create anxiety for some patrons, especially when the line is short and you sort of have to order now. Overall, this place is great. If you have not been here, give it a try.

I can’t say enough about this place. I spent my birthday dinner here and it exceeded my already high expectations. First, byob is a huge plus! Second, every single thing I tried was just so good! The grilled vegetable platter was my favorite and I’m a huge fan of all of their dipping sauces at your disposal. The service and staff were all friendly and the casual dining atmosphere was great. I can’t wait to go back. Make sure you get there early!

This restaurant deserves all the success and lines out its door. One walks in and is instantly greeted by a giant chalkboard of food items listed divided into to meats, salads, sandwiches, and sides. I decisively decided on their steak sandwich with filet and then a 6oz meat plate of flank(and it comes with a small side salad, toast, and tiny portion of grilled veggies). Depending on the cuts of meat prices vary. Strip steak is the cheapest to filet being the priciest. Ordered both meats to be cooked medium rare. While ordering you can see all the cute young chefs working hard grilling those meats in a modern clean kitchen. Sauce is unlimited and this place is byob even though they also sell beer and other soft drinks. They have wine glasses and beer glasses on the shelf along with plates and cutlery… it’s self seating but someone still brings the food to you and will clean up after you. Oh man, the steak sandwich is good! They didnt skimp on the filet either. I knocked one star down because my flank steak was more of medium done than medium rare. Still very flavorful and not chewy. Affordable steaks here!

After reading all the amazing reviews, I had to try it! The line was out the door. Everyone seemed to be talking about how good the food is while waiting! Total about 30 minutes wait. The staff were all so pleasant, I wouldn’t have guessed they were busy if I couldn’t see it for myself. The space is small, but we had no trouble finding a table. There’s an outdoor space as well. The windows make the atmosphere so light and airy. We ordered the vegetable plate to split. Yum! Chicken and beef Empanadas were alright… i preferred the beef. The real star was the pork sandwich house special. Lucky for hubby, he ordered it! It was tender and favorful. I really liked it! I had the Carne flank cooked medium rare. Both sandwiches had so much meat! The sauces and spices added flavor, not super spicy like I thought! See pictures for more info!

Absolutely the best place I ever eaten in Pittsburgh! The place is a little hard to get and finding parking relies on luck, but once you are there, the food is divine! The atmosphere is a classy, hipster type and the different types of food from snack dishes, to salad, sandwiches or real steak and desserts are there to make up for all the hassle you have to go through to get there. My SO had ribeye steak and I had a steak sandwich. I had to say, the steak was really good… moist and juicy and cooked to your desired level. However, what amazed me was the seasoning they put on the sandwich bread that made me go ooh-aah while eating it. Most of the time, the sandwich places make their fillings taste good but fail miserably with seasoning the buns/condiments that go with it. With Gaucho Parrilla Argentina, however, they get both right! Even my SO still raved about this place and the place stood out in both our minds when we thought about the best meal we had in Pittsburgh as well! Price was really reasonable, especially with the portion and such awesome taste you get. The waiter/cashier were super helpful, too. It does also help that the atmosphere is classy/super inviting, too! Go, if you are in Pittsburgh… and definitely make a case to stop and eat at this place even if you are just a visitor in town! Next time I’m back in Pittsburgh… I will hike my way there again! :D
