My husband and I utilized Griffin Inspection Services – we worked entirely with Andy Griffin – to complete a pair of general home inspections in Pittsburgh’s northern suburbs earlier this year, one of which also involved an inspection for radon and an inspection for wood-destroying insects, which Andy sub-contracted out. Andy’s prices were fair, and, particularly important to us, Andy was willing to work with us right down to the wire without our having to worry about a cancellation fee. For one of the inspections/homes we’d scheduled the 3-part inspection with Andy quickly after receiving the green light from the selling agent, though we had a feeling that the seller’s pain-in-the-ass relocation company might change their mind at any moment.(As a side note, I hate SIRVA. They were as inefficient to work with as I can possibly imagine.) We were transparent with Andy about everything, and, sure enough, were told we couldn’t enter the property on the agreed upon date to perform the inspections… even though the confirmation had been received days before, all plans were in place, and the sellers were out of town. We stayed in close contact with Andy throughout one exceedingly stressful morning as we awaited SIRVA’s final confirmation to proceed with the inspection. Andy was gratuitous with the deadline he gave us and then was OK with keeping the inspection as scheduled even though the final confirmation came about 30 minutes past the deadline. We were so grateful and even brought Andy a bottle of wine to express our gratitude. Really liked Griffin Inspection Services’ web systems such as the emails/notifications and the e-signing process. Very user-friendly and organized. One minor gripe related to our experience: we were charged and paid $ 500 for the 3-part inspection, but later when reviewing paperwork I noticed that we had agreed to a price of $ 475. Andy is a people person – easy to talk to and friendly. We learned a lot from him and enjoyed our in-person time with him, about 7 hours total. He’s clearly knowledgeable, handy, and likes what he does for a living. His inspection reports were clear, objective, and thorough. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Andy to family, friends, and Unilocalers.
