I stayed at a Lobos property for about a year. My first impression was horrible. When I was about to move in, I emailed to make sure someone would turn off the main breaker, so the electric company could turn on the electricity. I got an email response saying someone would take care of it. The day of move-in the main breaker had still not been turned off, so the electric company was unable to turn on the electricity. The gas company also had come by and was unable to turn on the gas because they«red tagged» the furnace, meaning it was not up to code! The guy from the gas company said we could’ve been in trouble if they had not spotted the two issues(one was that the furnace pipe was not properly covered, the other was that the exhaust was clogged with dirt so carbon monoxide could have accumulated in the building). I was furious because I had to spend the first night in an apartment without any electricity or hot water. I had brought air mattresses, but without electricity, I had to sleep on the ground. I called Lobos and they were not helpful and claimed they could only do so much(that ultimately it was my problem). The manager was quite rude, trying to get me off of the phone as soon as possible. I was almost in tears because of the way he treated me. The rest of my stay was ok, but not without issue. We had a couple of sound issues since the walls and carpet were thin(the carpet was VERY old), we could often hear the downstairs neighbors when they talked loudly. Since the rent was low, I dealt with the little things, like windows not closing completely in the dead of winter or doors not closing well, because the foundation is bad and the wood shifted around. Even though I liked the location and rent, I had to move because the floors were extremely creaky. It sounds like a small thing, but if every step you take is creaky and the walls are thin, it gets to be quite annoying. One of my roommates moved out because she had water drip through the ceiling into her bedroom. They fixed the roof, but she said it was the last straw for her. I think Lobos could definitely improve their customer service and the upkeep of their apartments.

Lobos management is about average for any company who rents properties to mostly college students. I think we all expect excellent service for our home and probably largest expense during that time in our lives, but it’s pretty unreasonable to expect that from these companies who have a zillion properties all over town. I lived in Pittsburgh for 2 years for graduate school, and my 2nd year I rented a property with Lobos. The property I had was really really nice and it was a steal for the price my roommates and I paid. It was in pretty good condition when we moved in, except for a few minor things here and there. No biggie. Our experience with the management left something to be desired. When we had maintenance issues, it took way too many phone calls to get someone to help us. However, our boiler stopped working during the winter, and they did get someone out there the next day to fix it, which I was very thankful for. :) The lease signing and move in process was pretty painful, since none of the documents they sent us had the same address to mail the forms into, and our lease and information got lost within their walls a few times. I mean, nothing you wouldn’t expect from a large leasing company in a college centric area. Overall, our property was nice and all of the essential issues got worked out, so I can’t complain too much! Good luck if choosing a lobos property! :)

Lobos management doesn’t allow dogs… ironic? I guess their name suggests that they want to eat you like a little pig or red riding hood. I am a real estate agent in Boston looking to find a place in Pgh for September to start grad school. When I called on an apartment to get some information and to find out what the market is like, the person answering the phone seemed like they wanted nothing to do with me. Further, when I asked for some links to apartments she said, rather abruptly, that everything they have is on craigslist and i should just enter the phone number. Dear Lobos, nothing makes a hot lead go cold quicker than inconsideration. As an agent, I have definitely had my flubs, but I do take contact information and send links of apartments to all of my clients. The difference is $ 0 or thousands of dollars. Thanks for saving me time. When I see your ads on Craigslist I will be sure to ignore them.

Lobos is one of those apartment management companies that has too many properties to handle. I rented an apartment from them a couple years ago and whenever a problem occured it took about ten calls for them to finally come and do something about it. It wasn’t like they totally neglected me, but I seriously had to keep pestering them until they sent someone over. Often when I called the employee I talked to didn’t even know they owned the property and would tell me to call back when«so-and-so» was working because he/she was the one who dealt with the apartments in my neighborhood thus starting an endless game of phone tag. Also, getting our security deposit back was an unbelievable hassle. We left our apartment in perfect shape but Lobos Management claimed we didn’t and it wasn’t until we threatened legal action in a small claims court with photo evidence that our apartment was left in mint condition that they relented and gave us our security deposit back. Since then, anytime I have been looking for a new apartment and I find out Lobos is the management company I take a pass and keep on looking.

The worst apartment management company I have ever dealt with. I came to see an apartment in June of 2010 and they said they were in the process of renovating it. I showed up in August and furniture that was supposed to be removed was still sitting there. It hadn’t been cleaned and was in terrible shape. «Move in ready»…yeah right! When I complained, the guy told me to «move out» if I was going to continue to voice my complaints. I should have taken him up on his offer. Also, when you call the office for repairs, don’t expect the following: –good customer service(downright rude at times) –an ETA on when your issue will be resolved –accountability and record tracking –your issue actually getting resolved without multiple calls They have multiple locations around the Oakland and Shadyside area, so some unfortunate souls will be stuck living under these slum lords’ rule. It might seem like a great idea during the sales pitch(at least they are good at something), but once they have your money, you are worthless to them. Stay away and rejoice in the fact that you just made one of the best decisions of your life.

Based on the bad reviews, when my friend looked for a place this coming fall in Pittsburgh, we were very hesitant to look at Lobos properties. Although the Shadyside agents seemed very uninterested and poorly informed about what their agency had to offer, I’m glad we eventually did. Kym, who covers Lawrenceville, was a great agent(we’d give her 5 stars). She is friendly, straightforward, and informed. We ended up going with another group, but were really impressed by her tasteful pick and professionalism.

I have nothing to do with this website but I thought it may be useful to potential renters. You know its bad when someone takes the time to devote a whole website to how much you suck!

DONOTRENT from Lobos Management. I have not met one person who has not immediately regretted renting from them. They do not care about you. There are plenty of places to rent in Pittsburgh, do not be duped. Do you research and find a place that respects its tenants. Lobos is a slumlord, save a million headaches and rent from anyone else.
