This is one of the last independently owned hardware stores. The owner is very helpful in finding what you need; pricing is competitive. I do recommend it for your routine hardware needs.

Friendly, personal service by knowledgeable staff. I come here for the right size bolt or piece of pipe, etc. If I run into trouble in the middle of a project, I can come here for help. You cannot get this kind of service at a big box store. You can also just buy what you need instead of a huge box of something you’ll never use again. This kind of hardware store is disappearing, so get over to Masters while you can!

Masters Hardware is a classic old fashioned hardware store in the very best way. There have been many times where I’m looking for just one small item, a screw or washer and these two guys have exactly what I’m looking for at a very fair price. It’s a smallish store so they don’t carry a wide selection, but it’s rare I don’t find what I need. Forget the big box stores, Masters Hardware in Swissvale is the place to go.

New to town and clueless about hardware, I picked Master’s Hardware because Google Maps listed it as the closest store to my house, and for the likelihood that it would be smaller and easier to navigate than Lowe’s or Home Depot. Luckily, my guess was on the money. My visit to Master’s Hardware was friendly, efficient, and informative. Unlike some hardware stores, where you’re left to fend for yourself, Master’s Hardware helps you pick up everything you need in a very non-salesy, unobtrusive way. For nails, wall anchors, lighting pull-chain extensions, and all your other little moving needs, Master’s will do the trick. Not sure about bigger projects, so you might want to call ahead if you’re planning serious renovations or, I don’t know, demolition. If you’re clueless like me, this is the place to go.
