I’m in the process of purging unused items and was torn of where to donate these items to. There are so many charities and good causes that could use donations within the greater Pittsburgh area. Some places ask you to out your donation items outside of your house and they will pick up, which I don’t mind but when it’s raining, I feel bad they are getting soggy boxes with wet items… Therefore I prefer to drop off items directly to the organization. I found this north hills goodwill on Unilocal and headed there to drop off my boxes on a rainy Sunday afternoon. You drive to the back of the strip mall and there is a drop off location sort of like a drive thru. All the cars line up and stop at the back entrance where there is a very polite and nice young man who will assist you with unloading your donation items. Very painless process and pretty quick. Oh. And don’t forget to get your donation receipt for tax purposes :)

I got a ton of clothes here today. A lot of them were brand name. I finally decided to jump on the skinny jean bandwagon, so I found a bunch of those in various colors. And I got a bunch of really nice summery tops. I didn’t even let myself look at the dresses. I have enough of those. And I got an easel for $ 8! I’ve been looking for a reasonably priced easel for the longest time! Goodwill takes patience cuz you have to weed through all the crap, but if you’ve got the time, it’s totally worth it.

I’m not sure what it was like in it’s old location, but this place appears small on the inside, with loads of stuff inside. The selection is better here because of it’s location. Go to a Goodwill in a different neighborhood and of course the selection is going to be different. Staff were probably some of the best that I’ve come across in a Goodwill store. Most stores the staff don’t even say hello to you when you walk in. This one, we were greeted with a ‘hello’ and a ‘how are you doing today.’ Put me off a little bit, had to get my bearings. The selection isn’t enormous, browsing is a must. Take your time in each rack and on each shelf. Upon checkout the staff kept up the politeness. Went over all the pros and cons of the item my friend purchased and informed him that if there was anything wrong once the item got home, he was able to bring it back within a week of purchase for a refund(I had no idea they did this).

not nice, poor selection but pretty large. I was expecting a lot better after reading the other posts — waste of an afternoon. Not a single hoody when I went there today

This GW is large, maybe even expansive. It’s located in a North HIlls strip mall, so they have plenty of room. This is another GW that balances the«new»(aka Target overflow) with items from the late 80s to early 00s. Don’t search here for vintage dresses, mod furniture, or antique housewares. In their 4 endless rows of skirts, I have fallen in love with too many minis, maxis, pleats, and ruffles for one lifetime. This place is the jam for gently worn work clothes, baby clothes, and ridiculous costume attire(if your idea of «Costume» embraces the worst/best of the 1980s, I mean, which mine does). The prices are fair-ish. I have found a number of items that cost more than I knew that item was brand-new at the store — this is usually with clearanced old navy, target, and forever21 items. Just steer clear of the vapid, over-priced stuff, and focus on reliable, sturdy basics.

wow. considering that my wardrobe consists of 98% thrift store purchases, believe me when i tell you that this is the be all/end all of second hand shopping. neat and clean? check. everything organized by size? check amazing selection? check. new arrivals rack(to make it even easier)? check friendly, helpful employees? check seriously, i always come back from the burgh with a haul! i am especially excited about my brand new roethlisberger jersey for $ 3, 3 jeans and 4 t shirts for $ 20, and the ultimate so-hideous-it’s-awesome xmas sweater for $ 2. they even had guitar hero behind the counter(but who wants that jank aerosmith version?)! the only thing that sucks is having to carry an extra bag home on the plane every trip.
