So I am as artistically challenged as they come. Until recently I never would have considered doing anything that involved painting, drawing, or anything like that. But then I saw a recommended event on Facebook that caught my eye — a «Paint The Tardis» class at this Painting With A Twist location. So being a die-hard«Doctor Who» fan I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and give a painting session a shot. The #1 word I’d use to describe painting here is just«fun.» The atmosphere is very chill and the class holders really do want you to have a good time. They have a philosophy that all of the art made here is wonderful, and that positive reinforcement reeeeeally comes in handy if you’re an artistically challenged perfectionist like I am. They also offer both family friendly sessions and 21+ BYOB sessions. I personally took advantage of the 21+ session — I figured enjoying a drink on a Friday while painting was a good way to go. During a painting class/session the artists here guide you through the painting process step by step. They’ll also give you stencils for you to trace during more elaborate paintings(thank goodness!). They do offer breaks and they even have the occasional game to keep you occupied when you need to wait for paint to dry; our group played a sister game to Musical Chairs, where we passed around wine corks and anyone holding a cork when the music stopped was out. The winner won a prize made by a nearby sweet store. Simple and surprisingly enjoyable, not to mention a great way to interact with your fellow painters. I’m admittedly docking a star because of a couple small drawbacks. One, this place can easily get a little too noisy very quickly, especially if there’s multiple groups in the building; they play music in the background and also give instructions via a mic, so once you add in friendly chit chat it can get a little too loud to hear things clearly. At one point I couldn’t even hear the instructor at all when her mic died until someone turned the music down, which I think slowed me down a bit while painting. I also want to note that our class wrapped up 45 minutes earlier than expected, but I kind of wish we’d slowed down and taken advantage of even 15 more minutes — I think I could have put a little more work into my painting with a few extra minutes here and there. But to be clear, my complaints are definitely not dealbreakers at all, and while I didn’t leave with a museum worthy masterpiece I do think my Tardis will make a great addition on my ever growing shelf of «Doctor Who» figurines and whatnot. Heck, I had such a good time that I — someone who avoided art and drawing and whatnot for years — am now seriously considering coming back. And to get me to feel that way after one night, they’re definitely doing something right!

Had a lot of fun here. The artists are helpful. Even if you think you cant paint, you can here. I like that you can bring your own snacks and adult drinks. There are also family friendly classes The owner is the same as Robinson. Both locations are awesome.

Fun for a group. The instructors are patient and good at what they do. Artwork varies in theme so find something you like and give it a try. Ours was detailed and we started late thanks to other patrons being late so it was not as good as I had hoped. Made the night a little rushed for my taste, esp since this is supposed to be relaxing. U have done the before at different venues and would say it’s pretty standard but this one was just to rushed for me.
