The project was a new kitchen floor. First I contacted one of the big discount flooring outfits that advertises everywhere. I don’t believe I can use their name here, but you’d recognize it if I did. hint: It’s one word and implies huge. The aforementioned big discount outfit’s salesman came out and showed me what turned out to be relatively few sheet vinyl samples, none of which I liked, but being a good salesman convinced me to choose the least offensive one because their BIG50% OFF sale was about to end, and I just had to go for it or lose out. I had to give him $ 100(but refundable) deposit to lock the deal in, which I did. However, my gut was telling me to get a second estimate elsewhere a.s.a.p., which I did. I did some research and chose a local outfit: Rusmur Floors on Broadhead Road in Moon Township, and made an appointment. Their certified decorator/representative first spoke with me on the phone in an effort get an idea of what I was trying to accomplish. Once established, she had a good idea of what samples to take along with her to our appointment. Our meeting went very well, and the samples she had in hand were more in number and all far better than than those of the first unnamed outfit rep’s selection. I made a choice and then went over the details with her. The cost of the entire project came out to be less than the«discounted» price I’d been given by the first outfit. So, I gave her a deposit, and we were on our way. The installers arrived on the scheduled date and time. They were very accommodating and easy to work with and did an excellent job … and even did a few extras that the other outfit specifically said it would not do. All in all, I’m very pleased with the results and would suggest that others in the area check with Rusmur first before going to one of the big time, national outfits. Besides, when possible, I feel it’s better to do your business locally.
