This will be one short and(not so) sweet review. You see, I’ve been a happy Costco customer for many years. I moved recently and there’s a Sam’s Club not far from me. Convenient! Why drive out to Cranberry for gas and essentials when there’s a Sam’s close by? I’ll tell you why. Let’s start with gas prices. I have yet to see Sam’s gas any cheaper than Get Go. Compared to Costco, gas prices are higher by far at Sam’s. Today I bought gas at Costco for $ 2.29; at Sam’s it was $ 2.36. I’ve seen a difference of as much as 12¢ a gallon more at Sam’s and the smallest difference I’ve seen to date is still 6¢ more a gallon at Sam’s. I have a hard time believing the Wal-Mart pays higher wholesale prices than Costco. Then there’s the warehouse itself. Small compared to Costco, cheaper quality goods, no gluten free items and nowhere near the organic items. Checkout is slow and rude. And it’s dirty. At least I did get my money’s worth in my membership fee. It was free. Even at free, it’s still not worth the money.

This is a very average Sam’s Club. The store is generally not too crowded, and the selection is what you would expect from any location. The people seem to be fairly happy and helpful.

Composite review: Been to this Sam’s many times. All the experiences have been good. The price of the annual membership is easy to justify given the range of products available. Dedicated butchery and bakery; paper products in large lots. It is easy to overpurchase when there of course. Consumer beware! Checkouts have been consistently fast; it would be helpful to have easy to access boxes into which the goods can be placed. Pharmacy on-site as well; nice range of electronics, watches and jewelry. f8 and be there.

Sam’s Club is what it is. Members only, large quantities, cheaper than normal prices. It does offer quite a selection of items and variety within a category(ex. lots of different coffees, ketchup, etc.). The bakery is actually surprisingly good, especially the chocolate chip cookies. Definitely a good place to stock up on meat. They butcher a lot of it in-house, and it’s significantly cheaper than some of the local grocery stores. Beware of over-purchasing while you’re there. For some reason when you’re in this store, the idea of buying 1,000 rolls of toilet paper seems totally normal and reasonable. Very clean, with friendly and helpful staff!

Recently I went to this SAM club with a prescription from my doctor, The pharmacist who’s first name is Susan took the pres. cription then over the loud speeker called me back. She said I’m not going to fill this prescription was for you it is gainst my personal ethics?, I said my doctor says I need it and I have have been getting the refills for months here. I should mention this is not a drug that can be abused and its a legitimate Doctors prescription. I was embarrassed and refused service from the pharmacy buy this gal named Susan. I’m shocked and furious. I went to route aid and paid the extra $ 15 I guess everybody needs to feel important that this was a very inconvenient, without the medication I would have to be hospitalized.

I recently dealt with Sam’s Club for a work event I helped put together. We ordered 2 full sheet cakes, and shopped for various stuff for the event in the store. It was easy to find everything, they had a good amount of stock, and the employee presence was noted. In the bakery, the one guy was really responsive and ordering the cakes was not an issue. I believe there was a mis-communication on some minor details on the cake, but that was my fault. It still turned out beautiful and delicious. Check-out was fine, cashiers were appropriately friendly, and I have no complaints.

This is where the Sam’s Club that used to be on McKnight Road moved to. I’m a fan because it’s close to home and I don’t worry about perishables in the car for too long(unless I go to Target across the street). They also keep things very well-stocked and clean. I have yet to see something that isn’t where it should be or shelves that are low on products. When you get a chance, go to the very farthest back corner, the one that’s behind the freezers and paper products. That’s where they keep the«clearance» goods. Sometimes there’s good stuff there, like products that were floor models or things that were opened and returned. Also take a look at the other merchandise aside from the food — I got a gorgeous Anne Klein watch here for about half of what it goes for retail. The checkout guys and gals could be nicer, but I guess I’d be annoyed too if I had to deal with soccer moms and carts full of screaming babies all day.

This is by far the best Sam’s Club I’ve ever been to. It’s not crazy busy, it’s clean, the staff has always been very nice and helpful — especially the wonderful lady at the bakery that helped me out one day! Prices are pretty good but you do have to watch because sometimes you can find better deals elsewhere. I like this location too because the parking lot is pretty big and there’s always room. One thing though, and this is with Sam’s Club in general but this one especially — I hate the location of your food court. It’s more of an inconvenience to stop there after I’ve checked out and have frozen crap that needs to get home.
