This is the bakery dreams are made of. Especially delicious are their thumb-print cookies with chocolate jimmies and their white icing cakes with the sides covered in chocolate jimmies

If I have absolutely one weakness when I go to a bakery, it’s donuts. I’ll order all kinds but find myself typically just having a raised glazed. I’m sad to say that I wrote this place off the first two times I visited, both in the afternoon when they had sparsely filled cases and no donuts. During those visits I had no idea that was their specialty and the empty cases were not that way on purpose, they were picked clean earlier in the day. They seemed l have about 20 varieties, nothing crazy, but all looked delicious. Clearly what sets them apart are the soft raised donuts with the slightly crisp«shell.» The chocolate covered and glazed were absolutely perfect. I have a couple more on the box staring at me right now including a raisin fritter and a sour cream donut that look just as delicious. Cash only and you’ll need to arrive early, but not break of dawn by any means. $ 4 for 6 donuts as of this review which is more than reasonable.

There is one bakery I like more, that French bakery that had the killer croissant. But on every other item this place to me at least, and the wife, this place is the best bakery in a five mile radius of Venture street. About to go in, and see what treats I can get now. Donuts, pies large and small, cakes. This is a thoughtful place. You just don’t know until you walk through the door, what you want. BEST part? You have a little time to walk around look it all over, smell the smells and enjoy the sites.

Great service and great donuts. The raised donuts are the best I’ve ever had.(and I’ve had quite a few) I definitely recommend this place to all donut lovers.

**They accept CASHONLY** So, after hearing about Schorr’s from an acquaintance and learning that it’s in West View, I had to stop by. It’s located on Perry in the same strip as the dollar store. I recommend parking down at the DG and walking up. Trust me, you’ll save yourself a headache. As soon as the door opened I was hit by that glorious donut smell. It wasn’t busy when we stopped in(9:30a) but it was steady. I’m indecisive so I picked a few things and my daughter picked a cookie that she called«the Frozen donut» and said that it was deeeeeeelicious! The ladies were sweet to us and I loved that the kind woman that checked us out tied up our box of sweets with string. Seriously, with string. I’ve never seen that done except in old movies and I’d go back just for that. Oh, our grand total was under $ 4!!! Go there one of these days and treat yourself!

love their fresh donuts and cookies ! love the ladies there, i am so lucky to live a block away. If you are stopping by on the way to work, leave home at least 10 min earlier as there are usually lines in the morning.

Living on Perry Highway, I tend to frequent the small town of West View frequently, be it trips to the bank or picking up a few groceries at the West View Giant Eagle.(Yes, I do shop there… it’s not as scary as you think! And they have beer!) Tucked in a small(and I mean SMALL) pseudo-strip mall/shops is a small family-owned bakery called Schorr Bakery.(There is also a location down the road in Observatory Hill, across from Perry Traditional Academy.) I’ve never personally been in the shop itself, but I have sampled a few of their delightful products. The cake: Be it birthday or any occasion, their cake is amazing! The frosting isn’t that nasty sugary stuff you can get on a supermarket cake; it’s real-deal full of butter and cream and sugar delightfulness. It isn’t overwhelming or overly heavy, but the texture of it is simply perfect. Sure, if you’re watching your figure, it isn’t the best thing to gorge on, but when you have a cheat day — it’s the perfect thing! The donuts: OH. MY. GOD. So, there’s a Dunkin’ Donuts less than a mile away, and for the life of me I cannot figure out WHY the line is so long for the drive thru. Hopefully, it’s for customers wanting the COFFEE and not their donuts, because Schorr donuts put theirs TOSHAME! They stay fresh for a decent amount of time.(I’ve had them sit out on the counter of the kitchen at work, and they are still as fresh as in the morning.) The Longjohn cream filled variety boasts the same creamy frosting filling as their cakes. And I hate cream filled donuts — but sit one of theirs in front of me, and it will take every ounce of self control for me NOT to eat it. The jelly donut is bursting with jelly goodness. I am on a diet now and these things come into our kitchen every Friday. Very dangerous. If Agent Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks ever came to town, he would fall in love with Schorr donuts. And he would never leave. Fine by me! :)

This unassuming shop on Perry Highway in West View houses the best donuts ever in the history of the world. No, seriously. At my last job, someone brought in a box of donuts for breakfast one day. «Oh, hurrah,» thought I, «but couldn’t someone bring, you know, bagels or something other than insipid dough pucks with boring fillings day after day?»(Yes, I can complain about free food. In case you were wondering.) Being hungry, I took one anyway. In retrospect, I’m not sure how I waited until I got back to my desk to start eating it, but I didn’t know then what I know now. That is: These are donuts worth eating. They’re not the blandly chewy globs that other places pass off as raised donuts; oh no. These boast a crisp exterior(like they’ve actually been fried), a tender interior, and plenty of filling. I had to ask for the name of the bakery. Imagine my delight when it turned out to be Schorr’s, no more than ten minutes from my house and within walking distance of my parish church. Before I ate that pivotal pastry, I thought I was content just having a French cruller once or twice a year, maybe a custard or jelly donut if they were on offer. Just to be polite, see. Now I know better. Go here. Get a raised donut of some kind, any kind. Feel your life change for the better. Oh, and they only cost 80 cents. The kolachi aren’t bad, either.
