I enjoy Silkys, usually have good service and am usually satisfied with my food. This time my chicken on my salad seemed way overcooked… just some of it though… almost as if 2 chicken breasts had been used, one fresh, one not so much. Still tasty, just not as good as usual.

Mediocre food and also over-priced. Ordered the Reuben and it was brought out with the bottom of the bread soggy(maybe from sitting too long). Confronted waitress and awkwardness ensued as she wouldn’t take my plate right away and resolve the issue. The solution: THEYGAVEME A NEWPIECEOFTOASTON A PLATETOREPLACETHESOGGYBREADMYSELF! And to top it all off… they didn’t discount my bill ATALL. I think the terrible Rueben was around $ 10.99 and soft drinks are NOFREEREFILL! This Silky’s Pub place is a complete JOKE.

OMG, the wings. They are double-fried and soooo crispy. I have not had such awesome wings in a long time! Otherwise, pretty typical pub-ish food and atmosphere. Great local place with the sports games on in surround sound!

Went here after Little Italy Days in Bloomfield. After buying three beers at the bar, and getting carded, my party of three sat down at a table. We received no attention from the waitstaff. When I went back up to the bar to buy another round for my party, I was carded again, by the same bartender with glasses and short hair. At that point, I was told that I could not buy beers for my party, even though we had all already presented our IDs initially, and that he would need to see everyone’s IDs again. I went back to my table, collected everyone’s IDs, and then presented them to the bartender. He flipped out, and told me to get service from the wait staff. Meanwhile, the wait staff thought we were being taking care of at the bar. So rather than waiting to flag down the waitresses, all three of us went up to the bar, presented our IDs. The bartender who had lashed out at me ignored us completely. In fact he walked by is several times and emptied the trash, rather than attend to our order. Thankfully the other bartender took care of us. I’ve been here before, and hadn’t had bad experience, but tonight was awful.

This place is just as good as I remember it being in college. Excellent beer list … all good choices. Food is surprisingly good for a corner bar too. Burgers are hand-made and never disappoint. We do not have real home-towny kinda’ bars that serve food this good in the DC area. It’s a shame. Always a pleasure. Well, except for the creepy old guy who hogs the shuffleboard table and talks to himself. But every bar has its quirks.

The menu is a problem, everything on it sounds so good! Last night, after much deliberation over a couple of pints of the amazing Ithaca Apricot Wheat beer, I opted for the Bleu Burger. A burger stuffed with blue cheese and mashed olives. It was outstanding. Like when you wake up craving the food you ate last night, that good. Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Until a few weeks ago the only time I’d been to Silky’s was on a terrible date… he was a messy eater and generally ruined any good impression the place could have made on me. All that changed when my boyfriend and I decided to check it out for Sunday dinner one evening. We were very hungry and seeking a nice little neighborhood pub sort of place near our new house. I’m happy to say Silky’s ended up being just what we were hoping to find! It was dark and sort of cozy-feeling inside when we walked in. I liked how chill the vibe was. We immediately seated ourselves at a table to wait for the server. This might be a random observation, but I really appreciated the size of the tables for two. They could have probably fit four people but with only two seats it felt like there was actually enough room for plates and drinks and such. One of my biggest annoyances with eating at bars is getting an extraordinarily small, wobbly table. Our waitress came over pretty quickly and provided us with the draft list and specials for the night. The beer choices weren’t amazing but certainly adequate for a neighborhood place. I ended up ordering the California chicken wrap with regular fries, and my boyfriend got chicken fingers with waffle fries. I absolutely loved my wrap and fully intend to order it again! It had guacamole,(an all too rare thing to find in wraps or sandwiches in Pittsburgh) bacon, general chunks of grilled chicken, and tomatoes. Those are four of my favorite foods, so I was very pleased with my choice. I eat my wraps with a knife and fork so I had no trouble with the messiness factor, but the wrap was quite large and I had leftovers for the following day. I enjoyed my boyfriend’s waffle fries a little more than my plain ones however, so I’ll probably get those next time. He said his chicken fingers were great. I’m sure we’ll be back at Silky’s very soon. Delicious food, awesome service, and close proximity to our home will make this a regular spot for the two of us.

We live a block away and decided to try Silkys one last time with the kids in tow. The waitress was great, food was great and they kept the volume on the jukebox to a reasonable level for 6 – 7 pm in the evening. Have had issues with all 3 things on multiple recent(last year or so) visits, and the last time had an issue with all three. I am glad to see things were much better this time as we enjoy supporting this place and it is very walkable for us. Thanks Silky’s!

SIlkys is pretty sweet. The french onion soup and new england clam chowder are delish. Beers are on the pricier end but its no dive bar so that’s to be expected. They do have drink specials sometimes but never when I’m there, idk if its weird times or I just aways go out late or what but i always miss em. I usually get the soup and salad combo when I go, the salads are huge and the combo of flavors like steak gorgonzola and pecans is so good! Plus in the summer you can sit outside with your dog.

I was staying at a hotel nearby and was looking for a place close by for some food and drinks. The hotel recommended heading down to Walnut street, but that seemed like a long walk. I checked Unilocal and saw that this place had some decent reviews, so thought I would give it a try. There weren’t too many people there when I walked in, so I went right up and sat at the bar. I was greeted right away by the bartender(Bill). He told me which three beers he was out of(which unfortunately were the three best ones on draft), then took my order. I started with some wings and a beer. I only order a half dozen of the atomic flavored wings which was unfortunate, as they were some of the best wings I’ve had in quite a while. As a comparison, they weren’t as hot as Buffalo Wild Wings ‘hot’ wings, but had decent heat and great flavor. I then had another beer and ordered a meal they had on special. It’s not what I would call bar food by any means, as it was a perfectly cooked baked chicken with vegetables and potatoes. I got a cup of cheddar and lager soup as part of the meal too which was wonderful. Overall, I was glad to stumble across this place. As others mentioned, it seemed to tailor to an older crowd(30 – 49 seemed to be the median age when I was there). I would have given it 5 stars had they been fully stocked on their draft beer. I like to drink unique or uncommon beers when traveling and had to settle for Molson that night.

Silky’s is my go to spot for a laid-back Friday night where you can have a few drinks and play some shuffle board without a crazy crowd. The place is never empty, but it’s also never too full where you can’t get a table. The crowd is a mixed bag, but like many bars in Pittsburgh, I’ve never felt out of place there. Silky’s has a slightly above average tap list that often includes Southern Tier, Fat Heads, or Great Lakes. I have been disappointed several times when the tap list has changed but not the menu. I get my heart set on a beer, only to find out the keg has been tapped. No complaints though, there is always something else to try. I haven’t had much food here, but the waffles fries are a great candidate for a late night bite. Silky’s has several dart boards, and a shuffle board table along the window. If you get here early enough, you can get in a few shuffle board games before someone else takes a turn. When the weather is nice, the patio is a great option. There’s potential for good people watching on Liberty Ave most days. However, asthmatics be forewarned, the bar is non-smoking, but the patio is not.

I’ve been to both Silkies once, and I’d have to say, I was pretty impressed each time. The food here was good, the service was great and friendly(it was dead though, so I’ll have to come back when it’s busy), the portions were large, and the price point great. Also, the presentation of the food is better than I expected for a laid back pub. The only thing I wasn’t a huge fan of was the cole slaw. It wasn’t bad, I just feel like it could have been better, it was a bit bland. Either way, I enjoyed my meal. I got the bang bang burger which was a special. It has a spicy sauce on top, and it was perfectly cooked medium as I requested. My friend got a chicken bacon cheddar wrap which was good, and the waffle fries were on point. Nice and crispy. Oh, and the ranch is bomb! Bad ranch just kills my meal, so that was nice. Other than that, they have a great bar space with TVs. I’ll be going back here!

Just there last evening after a 12 hour shift at work. ordered a Rachel sandwhich… received a reuben. The server apologized and offered to get the correct sandwhich for me to go. She brought it to the table packaged to go. I drove all the way home to moon township opened my container and found another reuben sandwhich… disappointing to say the least. The fries were great however.

My experience here was terrible. A 15 minute wait for a draft beer on a slow night? No thanks.

Waited 45 minutes for watered down cheesy? Potato soup. The broth was orange but I can’t say it was because there was any cheese in it. The pasta was very bland

Huge portions of delicious American pub grub. The prices are reasonable, the food is tasty, and the service at the bar is always professional. Don’t come here expecting fast food, it’s all made fresh and is of good quality.

I really like Silky’s– it’s a great little bar with a good two list. Last time I was there the southern tier 2xipa was on. So. Good. I had the Reuben and was so happy with it. Crispy buttery bread with corned beef and sauerkraut. The fries on the side were crispy and soft in the middle. I’ll be back!

This is one of the coolest laid back bars to go to. It draws a little bit of an older crowd, so the atmosphere is chill and fun and provides a really good time. I’m a huge fan of drinking beers with friends and throwing darts, and with a few dart boards and a shuffleboard to boot this place is perfect. I’ve had food here a couple of times as well, and for bar food it’s actually quite good. The location is perfect for sitting out on the tables right on Liberty and chatting with buddies as the cars go by.

I don’t end up here often, but when I do, I’m never disappointed. Silky’s Bloomfield has a great rotating selection of draft beers and their menu is surprisingly tasty. I say surprisingly, not because anything about the place would indicate otherwise, but simply because when a place feels more like a bar then a restaurant, I anticipate that I’ll be served basic bar food. On the contrary, Silky’s burgers are delicious and they have some non-standard fare like the Stuffed Peppers that are always crowd pleasers. The Bloomfield location has the additional benefit of some nice outdoor seating on the quieter end of Liberty Ave., indoor shuffleboard, good sports watching TVs, and a jukebox. There are lots of bars to choose from in Bloomfield, but Silky’s makes a strong play to be your go-to neighborhood hangout.
