The Fluted Mushroom

You know when food is so good you dream about it? I keep dreaming about this amazing spread from The Fluted Mushroom. I attended the Party at the Pier last week and they were the caterer. The food was listed as «light appetizers.» You know what that usually means? «We’re offering you one cracker and cheese per person.» I was HAPPILY mistaken.
I was STARVING and was really tempted to stop at the nearest restaurant just to shove down some food before we went. I was CERTAIN we weren’t going to be offered much at all. Much to my amazement, the spread was FAB!
There were full trays of veggie and Italian sandwiches on focaccia bread. The veggie was good, maybe a little too many bean sprouts, but the veggies were well marinated. The winner of the evening was the antipasti tray. Everything looked BEAUTIFUL! There were artichokes, peppers, eggplant, carrots, mushrooms and much more. I couldn’t get enough of the mushrooms and artichokes. They tasted as if they had been marinated for at least a full 24 hours in advance. It was incredible. Like I said, I dream about them at night now…
From this small display of food I devoured, I can say confidently that the job they did was suburb and I would totally trust them to do a good job elsewhere. Heck, just send me an anti pasta platter and I“ll be a happy girl!

I cannot give a rave-​enough review for the Fluted Mushroom! They catered a birthday party for my Mom’s milestone birthday, in her home. My sister and I were flying back to Pittsburgh from California and had to rely on them to do everything — food, dishes, silverware, napkins, all of it.
Mom’s a great cook, and we the sisters are foodies, so we wanted something more than fried chicken and rigatoni. Their menu was amazing: appetizers included mini crab cakes with chile lime aioli, the best bruchetta I have ever had (so not boring) and lamb chops that we are trying to figure out how to replicate. Dinner was equally lovely — the filet was perfect, the roasted vegetables were beautiful, and the salmon moist and flavorful. Mom and her friends are still raving about the food.
More than anything, even more than the incredible food, the service was outstanding. Ron, Mindy and Denise were friendly, professional, attentive, and fast. They left that kitchen cleaner than it was when they arrived, and did more to make everyone feel relaxed and comfortable than we ever could have expected.
I would recommend The Fluted Mushroom to anyone for a birthday party, bridal/​baby shower, or any other occasion.
