Trader Joe’s

Like this market but it is definitely much less helpful as it could be. Irritating that veggies are usually in bulk bags or a great deal of packaging. Expensive produce occasionally better than Whole Foods and occasionally worse. Mainly appears like a market for those who do not do very much cooking– tons of ready to eat meals and frozen meals. However, it’s a good option to Whole Foods. Occasionally things are more affordable. It would be fine if there clearly was a spot to sit down and eat since there are really so many already made matters available for purchase. Shop has a bell system for communicating among staff that is amusing. Staff appear helpful and are often talkative.

Only recently moved to Pittsburgh and stopped in to Trader Joes after hearing such wonderful things about the shop. I’ve blown away. It appears very hard to eat healthy without paying high costs, but at TJs you can locate a range of healthful choices (all-​natural, vegetarian, fresh produce, etc.) at acceptable to affordable costs. The shop is small but I found everything I wanted. The environment is relaxed and friendly and overall a great supermarket.

Preface: I like to eat as healthy as possible, and organic when I can. I usually stop at Trader Joe’s when I don’t feel like paying Whole Foods prices.
When you walk into this Trader Joe’s location, the first thing you will see is a variety of fresh produce. Most of the produce has more organic options than you will find at your typical grocery store, and it will cost you less. You can find plenty of options for just about anything you could want. Oatmeal, cereal, dairy, and they also have many healthy bread options. Random, but I was surprised to find organic lemons here, as I try to drink lemon with my warm water in the mornings and can never find organic lemons. I was a little disappointed in the meat section, as I didn’t find much variation. If they had a little more to pick from, I wouldn’t mind paying a little more for the better-​quality offer.
However, this TJ’s does have a nice frozen food section. Here, you can find frozen lunches, Asian, Thai, and Mexican cuisine, and also frozen vegetables. My cashier was helpful and friendly during my check-​out. Props for not having to bring my own bags. I’m all eco-​friendly and stuff, but sometimes I just really want you to provide me with a bag. I gave it three stars just due to tight parking in the lot.

If you haven’t been here, GO NOW. I adore Trader Joe’s. They have awesome prices on delicious items (a lot of which are healthy, but not all). I’m always excited about shopping there & could probably spend an entire day browsing the store. The customer service is spectacular, they are great with returns, they will let you sample things if you need to– it’s the perfect store! Just a few things that I love: peach mango orange juice, «this _​walks into a bar» cereal bars (blueberry, fig & strawberry are awesome), sweet chili sauce, quinoa pasta, meatless ground beef, meatless mandarin chicken, marsala veggie burgers, bbq chicken pizza– I could go on all day. There have seasonal items too so you never get bored with their products. My only complaint is that PA won’t allow liquor to be sold here, so we miss out on the awesome wine/​beer selection they have in other states! =[ (get with the times, PA!)
This place can get busy– I usually go during the week to avoid the weekend crowds. It’s worth it though.
Just get here now.

TJs, Trader Mings, Trader Jose… all the faces of Trader Joes.
This store has the friendliest staff and is more than likely to be stocked. They’ve recently reorganized the floor layout near the entrance with helps with entryway overflow a ton.
The demos in the back of the store are always a delight halfway through the store visit. They’re always combining things that I wouldn’t normally think to bring together. On more than one occasion I’ve gotten whatever’s on the stove as its enticed me with its taste.
Meat and veggies are always a good deal, and the Chinese delights in the frozen aisle are better than expected.
It’s a favorite store to shop at, not just for the great deals, but also the quality of the food and people!

Trader Joes is my favorite place to go to for shopping! They must lace their products with crack or something. The staff is super friendly and their prices are also extremely affordable and you can get a lot for under $ 100.
My favorite products to get from TJs are the cookie butter, their orange chicken and frozen dinners, hummus, any of their snack food items, and especially their dark chocolate peanut butter cups! I think their produce is ok but more hit-​or-​miss.
Actually getting to Trader Joes can be a little annoying because it’s in an area of town where it’s kind of overdeveloped so parking and traffic in the East Liberty are can be somewhat difficult. The best time to go to TJs is in the morning.
I absolutely love Trader Joes and cannot recommend it more!

I am a true Trader Joe’s supporter. The excitement of shopping here never grows old though I try not to go there on the weekends. I really enjoy discovering yet another new product each time I shop and its really encouraging to know that I am seldom disappointed. I especially enjoy the daily product sampling and promotions they offer their customers.
The store generally has plenty of help on hand for the amount of business they do and the lines at the registers move quickly.

i love trader Joe’s but i am not a huge fan of this location. I’m not sure why and can’t particular put my finger on it. Maybe its because its smaller yet usually busy. maybe because it smells like spilled spices. i honestly dont know. I love the concept but i will most likely try the new North Hills location or the one in South Hills. The workers here are always super friendly and prices are nice for organic food. I’ve tried this location a few times and just havent made it my main stop for grocery shopping although i really want to. I know people are going to judge me for giving T. J 3 star :\

I love Trader Joe’s and this location is no exception. Clean, well-​organized, well – stocked and a friendly staff makes shopping easy. Smaller than some locations that I’m used to in other states because they can’t have alcohol, but that’s a state issue and not a reflection of TJ’s. The store can be really crowded and the parking lot is tight, but I like the store enough that it won’t stop me from shopping here.

Love the Asian food here. Easy to locate. All organic foods. Samples are great here. Love this store.

I really love this place. Love that I can get a beautiful bouquet of flowers for $ 5.99. Love the fact that they have premade whole wheat pizza dough, love that their produce is incredibly fresh, and that the price of coconut water is very reasonable $ 2.99. I also like their frozen pizzas, and their frozen desserts.
Trader Joe’s has a variety of things that you would normally pay an arm and a leg for else where (organic veggies and a ton of nuts). BTW their nut selection is unlike any that I have ever seen in town, and it doesn’t break the bank.
I basically hit this place up at least every two weeks for my fresh flowers and coconut water.
One thing that I would avoid is going there after 5pm on a weekday or on a Sunday. The place is a mad house and for some reason people start driving like idiots in the parking lot.

I have such a love/​hate relationship with Trader Joe’s. So affordable and a great variety of items throughout the store, but when it’s crowded, the chaos is enough to unsettle even the most patient of people. You warmup by trying to park your car. If you pass that test, you’re ready to move on to the shopping cart experience. I can only say, «good luck!»
The staff is always incredibly helpful and nice. So, between the service, the selection, and the affordability, it’s no wonder the place is insanely packed with shoppers. It’s really hard not to recommend. Now, if only they could stop having items we regularly eat from getting recalled…

I shop at Trader Joe’s often because it’s convenient. It’s really close to where I live. The staff are great and always willing to help. The produce section is not the best. I find that I have to look over the bagged fruits closely to make sure that they’re not going bad or not growing mold.
I think I think Trader Joe’s is great for dried fruits and nuts, cheeses, yogurt, baking items, and snacks. Most everything else is premade, which I typically don’t buy. So, If you don’t like to cook and rather pick up something to throw in the microwave, this is your place.

A wide selection of organic food with reasonable price
This short phrase can explain well the traits of this market.
Personally I like trader Joe’s ice cream. My favorite is an ice cream sandwich consist of chocolate chips, cookies and vanilla ice cream. A cup of coffee ice cream is ok.
Clerks are so sweet. I was impressed by their kindness and enthusiasm. Whenever I ask something, they try hard to help me by all their hearts. I really appreciate it.
Most of my neighbors recommended me to go to trader joe. I think they are right. Actually I typing it eating sea salted caramel chocolate that I got from Trader Joe yesterday. So wonderful! This market is ruling my life haha: D

Luv Trader Joe’s and the wide variety of products that they carry that you won’t find in your local Giant Eagle. Thier produce is always fresh and the meats that they have are of a higher quality.
I first discovered TJ’s when I lived in Hampton Roads, VA and fell in love with that store. In addition to the unique, quality products I’d get there, I was also able to purchase high end craft beers there too. But thanks the Pennsylvania Politicians who are «looking out for our best interest», we don’t get to enjoy that evil pleasure here.
My only other complaint about this one is its location. It’s just a pain to get into and out of the parking lot. I wish there was a Trader Joe’s closer to where I live. I’d shop there all the time.

Trader Joe’s is always hit or miss for me. Some prices are good, some are terrible. It’s the poor man’s Whole Foods.
This particular location.
Service: awesome. I always enjoy that the cashiers are not just willing to say hello, but hold a full on conversation. Areas are constantly being straightened and restocked.
Parking: eh… there just doesn’t seem to be a glow to the parking lot. I’m not saying it’s not the people driving, but it’s often a cluster.
Clientele: ugh. It’s like when people come into this store, their elitist instincts come out and all of a sudden they are the only person shopping!
I like Trader Joe’s, but it’s not my hub for shopping. At least this particular location. What is bomb about non PA locations? Two-​buck Chuck.

I really like the Trader Joe’s chain of stores, and I have no complaints with the store. The service is great, the groceries are amazing, and they pack some really cool products into the store.
There are a few things that make me crazy about this particular Trader Joe’s:
1.) The people that shop here. Some of the most horrible human beings shops here. If you are going to eat healthy, it’s probably best to lead a healthy emotional life as well. People will push and shove to get in front in lines, get to food first, and run you over to get a parking spot. This Trader Joe’s actually needs a referee sometimes for how horrid some of the consumers are.
2.) The parking lot is small.
3.) It’s always PACKED with long lines to checkout, but the cashiers are as fast as can be.
4.) Pennsylvania Trader Joe’s do not sell alcohol. AGH!
Overall, I love Trader Joe’s, but a little people managing and an alcohol permit like Market District would go a LONG way.

I really love TJs! I love all of the great options that they offer and while I can’t always find EVERYTHING that I need I can do the bulk of my shopping here and save a lot of money and still get organic and high-​quality products. Some of my favorite finds are: the organic broccoli florets, shaved Brussels sprouts, black garlic (mild, flavorful, fermented garlic), the TJ brand jalapeño cilantro hummus which I pair with the organic celery hearts, oh and I absolutely cannot forget about the Tuscan Kale — it is by far the best packaged kale that I have ever had and it lasts until the expiration date and is also great for making kale chips!
The snap pea and new black bean crisps are dangerously good because they are crunchy and like air and it would be really easy to eat the whole bag in one sitting and thankfully if you would do that they aren’t nearly as high in calories or fat grams as conventional snacks like chips.
I love the organic Tunisian olive oil and they offer some of the best selection of high quality flash frozen fish at very reasonable prices — much cheaper than Whole Foods and better quality (usually) and cheaper than Giant Eagle, too. The Thai chili almonds and wasabi almonds are also staples. They have great turkey jerky and some of the best chocolate that my friends and I have found in the city (my personal favorite is the Swiss Milk Chocolate with Hazelnuts; one friend is addicted to their peanut butter cup minis and another swears by the dark chocolate coconut bar).
Overall, TJs has a lot of great food at reasonable prices, you just have to know that not everything is going to be there every time because they do rotate their products, but are usually consistent on many items. I can leave there with 3 bags stuffed with food, spices, and household items for the same price as 1 – 2 loosely packed bags of groceries from Whole Foods. I just wish that PA let them carry the $ 2 Chuck!

Great place, great prices. I go to the gym round the building so I stop by all the time to pick things up since I’m there anyway. I have to say from the basics like milk and eggs to finding the items for a new meal to cook or even an awesome frozen/​fresh meal for a fast dinner at a good price. They have everything you need. The prices are almost always the same and quality is always assured. It’s not giant eagle where sales are not always a sale and everyday low price is a joke. It’s nice to just walk in and know the price is as low as it goes with out having to check other stores or cut coupons.
The employees are always helpful and fast. If you can’t find something they will help you find it or get it from the back if they have it. They are also always polite and never seem miserable like other stores.

This is the only Trader Joe’s around, so it is usually packed to the brim. Even so, I always find what I need and then some. Shopping at Trader Joe’s is an exciting adventure — there are new products every week — and they are typically very tasty!
TJ’s is a must for habanero lime tortillas, greek yogurt, soy ice cream and meatless meatballs. Everything is affordable, so even on a budget you will walk out with plenty of yummies (just don’t go overboard with snacks).
I’ve never met a surly employee at this location. Everyone takes time to make you feel important even if the store is packed. Cashiers and stockers alike will do what they can to answer questions and help you get ideas for dinner! That’s the closest you can get to a free personal chef.
I highly recommend this location for great prices, people and food!
