I’ve lived in Bloomfield a while and never made the trek over here since it’s kind of at an odd location and there’s no parking. I got a free coupon for it from the Entertainment book and gave it a go. Looking into this place, they have no website. It’s 2015. You can create a website free at blogger. There is no excuse. That’s low-rent. They do have a facebook and they do have a pic of the menu in the photos, but you have to LOOK for it. I shouldn’t have to look for something, it should obviously be there. I read online that it opened at 11am, wrong. It opens at 12. I arrive at 12:03. They ask me to wait and still have the door locked. Not a good first impression. I saw they had a soft pretzel on their menu, so I ask for one. They said«we don’t have it anymore». They sell little but still can’t keep their menu up to date. Not good. I get my ice cream and get lip about using the entertainment book coupon, with them saying«waffle cones don’t really count towards it». Thankfully they give it to me without further lip. Total for one waffle cone with sprinkles = $ 4.70. It’s actually cheaper at Dairy Queen, plus you get more. The ice cream was nothing special. It was melted within 10 minutes and the cone was from the previous night as they pulled it off the holder. I used to work at Brusters and we would make cones ahead of time so they would be fresh. Not here. It’s also likely the next person to come in wouldn’t be able to get one since I think I took the last two. WOULD I GOAGAIN? If I really wanted soft-serve ice cream and didn’t care, sure. But there’s nothing special about this place. Dairy Queen and Sweet Licks in North Hills are superior. ADVICETOTWISTERS — Get a website. Get up to date menus. Make sure your opening and closing time is listed correctly. RATING — 2 out of 5.

A nice small local ice cream shop. A great place to grab some soft serve on a hot night. I can’t say to much about the place other then the soft serve is good and very cheap. They also don’t skimp. It’s easy to walk to and they have seating outside. Now I only tried the soft serve but they have a larger menu. Sad to say I no longer live in the area and won’t be able to try this place out again.

Went here last night for ice cream because I live close by. I had the birthday cake hard ice cream. I found it to be too sweet for my taste, with a lot of cake icing and not a lot of birthday cake. I’m willing to give it another shot. I feel like I meet to try the soft serve.

Twisters is just a pleasant spot to grab dessert for a cheap price(they’re cash only, FYI). I ordered 1 scoop of ice cream there, but they did not skimp on the one scoop. It was a gigantic 1 scoop, which I honestly can’t complain about! I do wish they had some ice cream that was house made, since the ice cream they were selling was Hershey’s. There’s a nice little bench in front that enables for an enjoyable time people/dog watching as you eat your ice cream. Definitely worth going to on a beautiful summer evening.

Three words: Cheap water ice! After a walk in Allegheny Cemetery yesterday afternoon(Memorial Day), CM and I were hot. After checking to ensure that I had cash, I suggested that we stop by for a cool treat, and he assented. Fortunately, when we pulled up and parked, I saw a sandwich board sign on the sidewalk stating that they were open. Hooray! My original plan was to order a cone of soft serve ice cream and have it dipped in chocolate topping and then in sprinkles. However, the woman working told me they didn’t have chocolate topping(?!?), so I had to change my plans. CM was intrigued by the water ice(Italian ice), since he’d never had any, and decided to order one. I decided to do the same, since I’d been looking for an alternative to Rita’s(bleh!), but water ice is surprisingly difficult to come by in the Burgh. I asked the woman what brand it is, and she informed me that it’s Hershey’s(I wasn’t even aware that Hershey’s made water ice, but apparently, they do, and it’s sold under the Via Venetto label.) For our water ices, CM ordered watermelon flavor, and I ordered tie dye, a combination of lemon, lime, and blue raspberry flavors. The tie dye was a nice combination of tart and sweet flavors, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the watermelon, since it tasted rather artificial to me. The texture was velvety, as is appropriate for water ice, and it was cold enough that it didn’t melt quickly. Best of all, the price was right($ 2.14 w/tax for a small) – a dollar cheaper than Rita’s, which is overpriced IMO, and with comparable or better quality.(I’ll have to see if I can get them to make a gelati!) Oddly, despite the claim that they didn’t have chocolate topping, I saw a kid with a cone that appeared to be dipped in just that. I’ll have to try ordering that again next time to see if this was a fluke. Regardless, I’ll definitely be stopping back here soon to get another fix of cheap, delicious water ice!

They have so many oldies but goodies! However, they stopped making the homemade ice cream sandwiches because they don’t have the wafers :(Still a nice treat. FYI, they only take cash

Twisters really wasn’t that great. I had a snickers flurry. The vanilla soft serve just didn’t have the right texture and the snickers tasted stale. The medium size, which wasn’t very big at all, was $ 4. I only give it 3 stars for the different choices they had. Vanilla, choc, or twist soft serve. Different Hershey’s brand ice creams, milkshakes, floats, flurries, cones, slushies. And more! Other than all the choices, I would’ve given it 2 stars. It does have that cute small hometown charm and the woman working was very nice.

if you like blizzards from DQ, Twisters is better. More filling and it is a little cheaper. Solid little shop

The beauty of living directly next to Twisters is that well I have an unlimited supply of frozen goodies right in my backyard literally. I only get the chocolate vanilla swirl for myself and a small scoop of sugar free vanilla ice cream for the puppy. The ladies that work there during the summer are always super nice. Nothing to ever complain about here.

Oh Twisters is fun. We had ice cream here not long ago. I had some Blizzard-type thing, and it was delicious. The girl behind the window was a sweetheart too. I loved her hair and piercings.

Ehhh, its all soft-serve ice cream and Edy’s hard ice cream at this seasonal stand on Main Street. Don’t expect housemade custards of rose petals and amaretto. Do expect the same kind of fare the ice cream trucks of yesteryear once sold and expect to have it served to you by pretty, pleasant young women with piercings in their noses and blue streaks in their hair. Don’t expect Twisters to blow your mind. Do expect to have your candy canines soothed cheaply and through a window. After dining at Hambone’s to wait out traffic migraines, we decided to give ourselves some migraines of a sweeter, creamier kind. I bought a choco-vanilla swirl soft-serve torch in a truncheon of wafer. Kay had something similar to a Blizzard. And there we sat on the bench in front of the establishment watching yuppies, hipsters, skidders, children, and hospital employees go by on a comfortable, breezy summer evening. I could make this a routine.

we live just a few blocks away from this hidden old time gem. to be honest, i don’t stray too far from a soft serve cone — twisted chocolate & vanilla that’s totally covered with jimmies. but, it’s always a hit! the only bad thing? i can’t really figure out their hours, which may just be a neighborhood thing(see j’eet)…but, at least they light up the big plastic cones out front to let you know when they’re around.

So we’ve been a couple times. It’s a cute little place, reminiscent of the little corner ice cream place we went to as kids. Now this isn’t Cold Stone quality stuff, but it’s decent and cheap. Plus they have REAL Slush Puppies, old school style. It’s a little confusing when you walk up, you can’t tell whether they are taking orders at the window or inside the shop. Minor problem though. I was forced to deduct two stars, however, after I visited today. I ordered a small cookies and cream«Flurry» and was shocked, nay, FLABBERGASTED to learn that this place, which has the nerve to call itself a business, uses FAUX Oreo cookies. I don’t even know if I can walk down the same street as this store ever again. They may as well have given me a Rocks and Gravel Flurry. A travesty, really.

They have awesome soft serve, home made ice cream sandwiches. I look forward to the time when twisters reopens after the winter. They are cheap, friends, and most importantly delicious! Make sure you get ice cream sandwiches to go, because after you finish one you’ll want another one!

I think it may be a crime to give fewer than five stars to Twisters. Seriously, they’re awesome. Their soft-serve(try half chocolate, half vanilla!) is probably the best on the planet and they offer homemade ice cream sandwiches. Everything is affordable, so you can easily feed your frozen dessert addiction. On hot days, or heck, even on lukewarm days, this is the place to be.
