Awesome place I would love to stop here again if I ever came through Pittsfield. I consider myself a picky eater I enjoy good food. And this place had great food and great coffee to boot!

Fantastic food with amazing vegetarian options. I went for the first time this week and was upset that it’s taken me this long to eat there. I will be a regular here.

Had a greek salad and the ooh mexico grilled chicken sandwich. Excellent on both fronts and the salad was so fresh. Will definitely come back.

We had a lovely lunch here with friends. Staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered butternut squash soup and the gobbler sandwich – turkey, cranberry mayo and stuffing on the most delicious toast – and it was yummmmmmmy. Could have benefited from some greens, maybe arugula or something? But it was so good anyways, that’s just a matter of personal taste. Also had a fantastic cappuccino. Friends all enjoyed their choices too. Cute little spot. I hope we’ll be back soon on our next trip to Pittsfield, which seems to be turning a happy corner with lots of neat shops, cafés and gastropubs popping up in the downtown.

Legit espresso and correct size coffee drinks, the best blueberry muffin I’ve had in years, and a fantastic ambience. What more can you ask for? Those of you who disdain Starbucks and want a real espresso should definitely come here. I’m immensely picky about my coffee and this one is fantastic.

Came here for the first time on Friday for a light dinner with 3 other people, and I got the Curried Chicken Salad with Hot Chocolate. The sandwich was delicious! I love the bread(Foccacia), and the hot chocolate was oh so delicious. A small place in a small city, but it had a fantastic selection of sandwiches and drinks.

Stopped here before dropping off kids at Camp Danbee. Food was awesome! I had quiche and it was melt in your mouth. My daughter had a sandwich which was made to order and it was awesome! Highly recommend this place.

Great atmosphere and excellent food. Definitely ahead of the curve as far as responsibly grown, local and sustainable food choices. Fantastic small business on North Street(you don’t see those every day). Haven’t had the chance to try any of the specialty hot beverages

The Marketplace is one of my go-to’s in Pittsfield. The focus on quality local ingredients and the excellent bread make a big difference in what are otherwise fairly simple sandwiches and salads. The prices are a little higher than you might expect for sandwiches and salads, but you won’t mind once you taste the food, which is fresh, flavorful, and very satisfying. They have a strong bunch of vegetarian selections, but my favorites are the Naked Granny salad, home-made Veggie Burger(if you think veggie burgers are tasteless, try this one with spicy mayo and you’ll be a convert), and the Hella Portabella. The baked goods can be a bit sweet for my taste, but still nicely made. And the pomegranate oolong iced tea is delicious. Despite having a young staff, Marketplace’s service is quite good — friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. This place gets crazy-busy by 12:30pm most weekdays and service slows down at this point, so try to get there by noon or after 1:30. Nice that they have a few outdoor tables during the warm weather, too, though North Street isn’t much to look at these days with the various construction projects.

This café boasts a number of fresh eats, whether you want a sandwich, salad, or soup. They make everything fresh and to order and the portions will leave you satisfied. They offer a number of baked goods and beverages as well(juices, coffee). My favorite sandwich is the turkey avocado panini and it pairs well with the granny apple salad or any salad/soup if you choose to share with someone. This is definitely a great place to go for lunch or before catching a movie at the Beacon next door.

Really great lunch spot with everything made fresh and to order. This is not the place to bring your high priced banker for a business meeting. You order at the counter and take a seat. They will bring the food to you. I like that things are not standard. For example, you don’t just get a crappy Panera salad, you can get the Naked Granny Salad(granny smoth apple, goat cheese, tomato, onion and pecans).

Great lunch. Kids loved the Caesar Salad and a grilled cheese. I loved the Shays’ Rebellion. Service quick and pleasant. Minus one star for pricing. How about some chips or salad with the sandwich.

Love coming into this place for lunch. Once a week(min) I’m there. My favorites are the grilled cheese, especially The Southern Boy. I’ve had other stuff on the menu, like the BLT(good) and the Caesar spinach Wrap(not my favorite) but it’s all good standard lunches. It’s the perfect place to just grab lunch or a coffee. I highly recommend getting a coffee from here instead of other places near the area. They make a good cup of joe. The staff is always very friendly and are quick when I call ahead to order. Great place!

Decent food. The veggie burger was excellent. The veggie chili didn’t disappoint. I knock off one star for the price. Really expensive for what I got. I knock off another star for the staff. Plainly unfriendly. I will be here for a week. Unless there aren’t many choices within walking distance I don’t expect to come back.

Visited twice during a one-day road trip, the first time to get a quick pre-theatre lunch and then the second for coffee before driving back home. There seemed to be a fair number of items that were both vegan & gluten-free to choose from but I ended up getting the vegan chili(that happened to be GF as well), and it was delicious and very filling! There are some amazing-sounding sandwiches on their menu. I wish I could have tried even just one of them. Also shortly before we were finished, they had a live musician setting up and we got hear a couple songs that she played/sang, and it was lovely. Service was ok. Cashiers didn’t seem to be all that friendly, though. Then for coffee, I got an iced coffee and was happy to see that they have almond milk in addition to soy milk. Did the job just fine.

I was excited to try Marketplace given the rave reviews, but if I’m being honest, I’ve had better salads at Panera. The Naked Granny sounded delicious(the description, not the name), but fell flat despite a generous helping of balsamic vinaigrette. It didn’t help that they forgot the granny smith apple in the salad, which baffles me as it is the one ingredient mentioned in the name. On a not-so-busy Saturday afternoon, my simple salad took a mysteriously long time to make. I got to enjoy some live music while I was there. If my salad was any good, I’d probably be tempted to come back and stay for a while so I could enjoy it longer.

We ate at Marketplace based on the awesome Unilocal reviews(thank you, Unilocal!). Our GPS had a somewhat difficult time finding exactly where it was(which was a bit odd, since it’s right on North Street — a main street), but we eventually found it. I was so overwhelmed by the menu choices — there are SO many and they all sounded amazing. We asked the guy taking our order what he would recommend and he was super helpful and very friendly. Ultimately, we split the: — Ooh, Mexico(Grilled chicken, pepperjack cheese, avocado, greens and tomato with a chipotle aioli). Although EXTREMELY messy, this was also extremely yummy! The guy taking our order suggested we get the sandwich on focaccia, as that way we’d get more. A helpful and delicious suggestion! — Naked Granny Salad(Fresh greens, granny apple, goat cheese, tomato, onion and pecans with a balsamic vinaigrette). This was HUGE. It came in a giant silver bowl and was definitely the perfect sharing size. We couldn’t even finish it, despite how light, fresh & tasty it was. We also had to get one of the humongous cookies. We went with the peanut butter cookie with Reese’s peanut butter cups(I posted a pic on here). Crunchy, yet chewy, and so yummy. With all that, plus a Nantucket Nectar, it came out to about $ 22… I wish the Marketplace Café was located closer to me — in Boston! I want to try everyone on the menu and love the décor/atmosphere and food.
