I love the food here and the service used to be outstanding. However the last three times my family has gone to the basin pub the service has been slightly better than non-existent. Food is enjoyable, but the atmosphere, and service leave much to be desired

Positives: Great atmosphere. Good soups. The waitstaff is friendly and prompt. Decent beer selection. Tons of TV’s, if you want to watch sports. Negatives: The food situation is really dragging this place down. The first 2 out of 3 times I went there, the kitchen messed up my order in ridiculous ways. I got wings with no sauce. A burger with two bottom buns, and the wrong cheese. Even when the order is correct, the food could really use some work. They have the most rubbery pastrami sandwich I’ve ever had, and it cost $ 15. Chewing was a real chore, to the point that my jaw was tired when I was halfway done eating it. The burgers are also a bit meh — the meat is just low quality and bland.

Went there last night for a couple drinks and an app with my friend. Would of stayed for more but the music was shut off by 11ish and it started to feel uncomfortable in there like the staff wanted an early night. The bartender also seemed tipsy and kept forgetting to get us stuff we needed; another round we ordered and silverware and napkins. Idk… disappointed

I came in here for lunch on the recommendation of the concierge at the nearby Hilton Garden Inn. I was seated and served quite quickly… In fact I believe I was in and out of the restaurant in about 30 minutes. This was great considering I arrived around lunchtime, but didn’t have much time to linger. I have the queen size roast beef sandwich with sweet potato fries. I thought it was pretty good. Will likely stop here again the next time I am in town.

Met several friends(~20)on a Saturday night. Not super busy so we had room to hang. Descent selection of beers. A couple crafts, but nothing too unusual. Service was descent. Given the size of our party, I expected some delays, but didn’t have any issues. I did enjoy one of their burgers. A friend ordered it for me so I can’t identify it by name, but it was well prepared and quite tasty. I would go back for a casual burger/beer combo.

Where to start? Bad food & bad service? They continue to understaff the place with surly kids working the bar and tables. Abysmal food(here is a hint, if you are going to walk by the kitchen on the way to the very dirty bathroom, do it before you eat, not after). Take a look at the kitchen, it is messy and dirty. I really can not find one redeeming feature for this place, which is a shame. They have all the right foundations with a good location but have managed to turn it into a not nice place to be. The staff(certainly the bar staff at least) are rude and aggressive, I heard them talk to multiple customers like they were something they just stood on. Will not be back.

Great lunch!!! Nachos were huge, the Cuban was delicious with the pork! Prices were good and the service was fast!

We went there on a Saturday afternoon and I was greatly disappointed. The beer selection was almost all IPA’s, no porters or stouts except Guineas. The bottled selection was a joke… bud light, blue light, miller light etc. right out of the nineties. What, no zima? My slow roasted turkey sandwich was actually sliced turkey from a deli… enough said. The place was packed… I don’t get it.

This used to be a great place to go and I was a frequent patron. The beers have shrunk, the service is consistently poor and the food is middling at best. It is clear that the owner is more interested in squeezing out profit(downsizing drinks, insufficient staffing) rather than building a loyal customer base. I live in the area and wanted to make this my usual«haunt» but just can’t bring myself to go there anymore. Too bad.

A fine, low key pub. Nothing fancy, family oriented, good service, clean, lots of choices from healthy to not. My only knock, and it’s a minor one, is that it can get loud.

Everything as it should be. Came here with a big group, chosen by one of the members. After it was decided we’d go here, I came to Unilocal and got nervous. Seems like there are some serious concerns about service here. I made the reservation and crossed my fingers. I got there early to make sure everything would be OK, and our table was already ready. I though they might make me wait to sit until all of us were there, but no problem. Rachel was very helpful and casual about the whole thing, which was good because we were just trickling in after work and it took awhile for everyone to come. Service was very good. Beers kept coming as needed. I can’t comment on the beer selection, it seemed good to me but I’m not really a connoisseur, I prefer liquor. The food wasn’t spectacular across the board, but everyone gave it a thumbs-up. As a vegetarian I was nervous since this place even puts meat on its french fries, but the Greek wrap was actually pretty good. The roast beef sandwich got raves, and was enormous. Everything went very smoothly, even with people coming and going during our time there. Rachel was on top of everything and no one waited long for anything. We chose this place mostly because of the location, it’s central to most of the league members. However, I can’t see why we won’t be back here next time we go out.

Had not been to the pub in a while and remembered them having good food. What changed?! We sat for 20 mins before getting to place our drink order. So so beer selection at best. Loaded Nachos took for ever and came out with ground beef not chicken as ordered. They were okay but not great. Wings were the smallest I have ever seen. Half of the drum sticks were broken/shattered. They were dry and overcooked. Italian Wedding soup was disappointing. Waitress stepped on my wife’s foot. And a wreath fell onto the table next to us. Service and food were both poor. We won’t be returning any time soon.

Went back to the Basin Pub, haven’t been there since May because of a bad experience. Last night,(10−15−14) I have to say a saw a great improvement. The service was great and the food was great. The food was great in May but service was terrible. So kudos to management, GREATJOB! I will be back!!! Tony C.

Great Reuben sandwich and Mac salad. Turkey sandwich super fresh. Nice lunch off Erie Canal after biking. Service ok. This could have been a 4 if bartender waitress didn’t spend so much time on phone and talking to each other.

The Basin Pub is my personal home base. Being in close proximity to my neighborhood isn’t the only reason why I love it here. The staff is wicked friendly and incredibly personable. The kitchen isn’t the fastest, especially on a busier evening, however, relatively inexpensive top shelf liquors keep me company during any wait. Plenty of activity in regards to people watching or actually watching of TV’s; including the jumbo-tron, I think there’s 10 in total in a horseshoe shape mimicking the bars’ layout. An eclectic food menu and an amazing selection of craft/local beers in addition to the wines and liquor staples makes this a perfect place for an impromptu outing or to grab a nightcap or base your entire evening out!

Very mediocre place. The noise level was through the roof! Seafood bisque was tasty but it was MICROWAVED! Unacceptable. My chicken sandwich was good but not hot. Fries were cold. Beer selection was just ok. They have some microbrews but not many taps. Will I go back? Sure, but maybe not for a busy dinner. Maybe early before the kitchen gets slammed.

I’ve been here a couple of times and overall the food is not bad; a step up for bar food. This place seems to buzz with activity and noise during happy hour. I get to practice reading lips when I’m here. My friend always orders and raves about the crab and lobster cake sandwich, which looks good and hearty. I’ve tried the salmon salad and the roasted beet salad with salmon, chicken, and portobello mushrooms. Both times, the salmon was cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned. The roasted beets were tasty and complimented the salmon, not so much the grilled chicken and portobello. Overall, the food here is better than typical bar foods.

I actually really like this place! We meet a friend of ours here probably twice a year or so and everytime the service is great, roast beef sandwiches AWESOME, and beer selection not bad. If it were closer, I think we’d be here more. The televisions are large and great for catching a game. We’ve watched Sunday football here before — not too crowded. The dining room is spacious and the bar is central with seating all around. Again, I recommend the roast beef sandwiches, but all the food is actually pretty good. A good place to go with a family or group of friends. If you’re out shopping at Eastview Mall and want a nearby place to please a variety of palates, head here.
