Just moved to the area and used Unilocal to find a barber. I am confused as to why people have given this place 5 stars… My hair was a little on the long side and I asked for a slightly trim. As soon as I sat down the barber Tim seemed nervous, he even told me he was. Tim used a buzzer the entire time when I asked for a slight trim, I even asked if he could use scissors. I found it quite odd that the chair was turned around the majority of the time facing away from the mirror. Needless to say my hair was cut on an angle and looks terrible. The owner of the shop even told me to have him cut my hair…“Tim will take good care of you”. I just made an appointment at different shop to have my hair fixed, which I have never had to do. He was a nice guy but did a terrible job, first and last time going here. I just decided to call in and let them know how unhappy I was with their service. The response I got was unprofessional(they referred to me as «dude») and there was no apology given. The women I talked to was very defensive and hostile. She didn’t try to apologize at all. I would not recommend any one going there who doesn’t want to buzz their head.

Great, classic barber shop in the center of Pittsford. After moving back into town after being out of the country, I was looking for a classic barber shop on the east side offering reasonably priced haircuts and shaves. The girls at Sandy’s(Sandy is no longer there) do a wonderful job and are incredibly friendly. I believe part of the barber shop experience is having people to chat with while getting cleaned up. $ 15 for a men’s haircut. Can’t beat it for the exceptional quality received!

My husband went to Sandy’s when he needed to be cleaned up for our wedding in October. Sandy’s was his first barber shop experience and he has been going back there ever since. He refuses to go anywhere else. The ladies at Sandy’s do such a great job and their pricing is incredibly reasonable. In his words they are a «solid, classic, barber shop.» Thank you to these ladies for keeping my husband from looking like a mountain man!!!

They are usually great, but stay away from Lisa. The last time she cut my hair I lost half my eyebrow(No Joke). How long does an eyebrow even take to grow back? Did she say sorry for chopping off my eyebrow, no. I was sent out of the shop looking like I battled a clipper and lost.

I am not a man who gets many haircuts. Since college I have cut my own hair with a pair of clippers and only on rare occasions would I grow it out and need professional assistance. In those cases I tend to prefer a barber over a stylist not only for cost purposes but they tend to have nice finishes for short haircuts and a good feel for men’s hair. Sandy and her daughter have a 2 seat barber shop right on Main St and they embody the barber shop feel to a T. They cut hair accurately and quickly and make an effort to know what their customers usually get. My wait was short and my cut took no longer than 10 – 15 minutes with a beard trim and a straight razor edging on my neck and sideburns. On this particular day she was quite busy and direct but still pleasant. She judged my facial hair well and told me right out that I couldn’t grow a beard which I enjoyed. Some might appreciate the straightforwardness but it’s exactly what I like. No nonsense and right to the point. Prices are cheap($ 14 for men’s cut including everything I mentioned above) and quick even on a busy day. Highly recommended if you want a simple, high quality haircut without the frills. Great stuff and I’ll definitely be back!

I got what is arguably the best haircut and straight-razor shave of my life at Sandy’s Barber Shop from Sandy herself in January 2012. She is a Rochesterian(and Pittsford native) and a true old-school professional in the age of SuperCuts. Her amazing time-honed skill, friendly personality, and classic barber shop atmosphere in a small town environment are just about the best you can ask for.
