After breaking the transaxle in my sandrail I was in need of a good trans shop that was reasonable in price and had a lot of experience in the vw world. So I turned to a friend that had DER build a 091 bus trans for his sand car about 10 years ago and has never missed a beat or never been apart. So I called Jim and picked his brain about a few different things and he sounded like he really knew his stuff. I had a 002 bus that broke a drive flange stub shaft. Told him what I wanted and what I was doing with my car and he said(and showed me) the differences between different transaxle models. Of course strength and reliability was the goal. Long story short he built a complete 091 bus trans from the ground up. Jim spent a lot of time talking with me about gear ratios and tire sizes to get the best combo possible. End result is a great little setup that if taken care of will last a very long time. I can’t say enough good things about Jim, his business and the quality of work he delivers. Definitely recommended to anyone with a vw or Porsche that needs a great transaxle.
