Hertz Rent A Car

This is the 2^nd time I have rented from this location and it was great. Quick and easy transaction. I was in and out in no time during pick up and return. I will definitely be back

I have been using their service for a couple years now. I have an older, less reliable vehicle so times when I need to take trips or drive longer distances, I always rent a vehicle from here. Jason and his team have always been accommodating to my needs and I really appreciate them. Thanks guys!

I have the unique experience right now of having to rent 2 cars. One from Enterprise and one from Hertz. I have been able to experience both respective staffs and their customer service at the same time. The staff at this Hertz are horrible. Short, curt and downright rude. The convenience of it being on-​site at Fairway is great, but I will call for Enterprise next time. No excuses for how their staff is and I am talking to Fairway about it also. Too easy to rent a car from other locations when price is not a concern.

I must say that I am super shocked that this place is ranked so high with two stars. I’ve had bad customer experiences throughout my lifetime, but WOW! this place takes the cake. You must read this entire review, what I went through, I would not wish it on my worst enemy.
I picked up my car on Wednesday 12/​23, as I was driving, I noticed my low air light came on. I immediately brought the car back. It looked pretty low, more like flat to me. But the gentlemen that assisited me insisted that it was just low on air. Hey, I figured he works here, he should be the expert.
I went on with my errands, Thursday night, I noticed the air went super low again, but the store was already closed. So I had to wait till Saturday, because they were closed on Friday due to Christmas. When I called, I spoke to a Mike, the Assistant Manager. Mike acknowledged that due to their bad, everything will be waived, but can not refund anything, even for the days I don’t get to drive the vehicle since I pay in advance. However, he will take care of the taxes. Well, I am ok with that as long as they take care of my issue today. Pretty reasonable right? I even thought Mike was pretty cordial up to this point.
Well, I had no idea that this location closes at 12 p.m., thinking that I waited till 11:30 am to call with an issue so they can get their morning going. Since there’s no way I can make it by 12 pm, even though I only live 5 minutes away from this location. Because Mike has to refer me to the road assistance to get the car towed. See what I get for being a good guy? Should’ve freakin called them first thing in the morning, even if it was inconvenience for them.
I informed Mike I have three appointments so if there’s any way he can get it towed to the next closes location. So he advised me that the Anaheim location closes at 4:00 pm so I can drop it off there. Well, when I spoke to the towing Rep, he told me that he can only tow the vehicle to the Ontario Airport location, in addition, there will be a fee. WTF? I told him that Mike informed me everything should be notated on the system and that there shouldn’t be any charges because the flat was not caused by me. He said too bad so sad, he has to charge me and I can deal with Mike. Uhhhhhh, so how long will that take? Especially Mike just informed me what I pay in advanced will not be reversible. Aren’t they the same company? So peculiar, cause Mike told me everything will be notated on the sysytem. The dude told me a completely different story.
So I called Mike back to see if he can wait till 12:30 pm and use my AAA to pay for the towing. I seriously do not want to dish out any more funds that I may not get back. He said the latest he can wait for me is 12:10 pm. By now, it’s already 11:50 am, no way I can make it by then. When I asked to speak with a General Manager, he’s not available.
By now, you can imagine the frustration, now not only that I will be missing all my appointments, I don’t have a vehicle for the entire weekend.
So I paid Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I will take this to Corporate Monday since they are close today, we’ll see how much they will end up charging me for.
Mike actually did what he can, none of this is his fault. It’s definitely the way Hertz run their business. They are certainly in dire need to modify their business strategies and raise the bar in all aspects if they want to stay in business.
On the good note, I guess it could’ve been a lot worse, I could’ve got into an accident on Wednesday and in between Thursday when I was actually driving the vehicle. To be quite honest, this tire should’ve been replaced in the first place. I will post the picture so whoever read this review can see how bad shape the tire was. The threads are practically gone, shame on you Hertz, not only that you guys provide the worst service any man kind should experience, you are putting your customers lives at risk. At minimum, have a spare tire available, this could’ve gone really bad. Which non luxury car doesn’t have a spare tire?
I am so surprised you guys are still in business, look at all these bad reviews you guys are getting. Not only in this location, but a lot other locations. Wake up and do something about it. It is ludicrous that you hire employees as such to work for your Company. I would not be surprised if Enterprise buys you out. With the way we are treated, I’ve gotten better customer experiences from places I get for FREE.
Tips: Stay away from Hertz and go to Enterprise, I gave it a shot and became my top 10 biggest regrets of 2015. What a way to finish my year. One word for this place, DISASTER!!!
Update: At 2:45 pm, I received a call to attend an event that I can’t miss. Since I don’t have a vehicle, I had to call back. Spoke to a Victor, someone with common sense snd put me in a car by 5:00 pm. It was a stressful day that was not necessary.
It hurts to rent from Hertz!!!

This was the worst experience I have ever had trying to rent a car. The guy who «helped» us was a total jackass and completely rude. No greeting, no smile, no assistance whatsoever. If I could leave zero stars, I would. To top it off the dude was wearing a peacoat that looked like it was covered in jizz, so freaking disgusting and unprofessional. DO NOT GO HERE. Awful. We left without a car.

This location has very strange hours on the weekend and if you rent your car on Friday be prepared to keep it Saturday and Sunday whether not you want to and you will pay. They close early on Saturday and Sunday they’re closed completely so they will be happy to charge you for Saturday and Sunday if you don’t bring your car back before noon they also get an authorization that is 2 ½ times your actual rental charge it will take 3 to 5 business days for it to really get removed so do not use your debit card

I was able to extend my rental without issues, thank you for your convenience. will book though this hertz location again.

I agree with the other reviewers… this is by far worst Hertz experience. I had checked that I needed a pick-​up on my reservation. Waited, waited, waited some more… no call or pick up. I get there and mention it and was told it was my fault, it was not on my reservation. Hmmm… OK. I ask if there is some where I can leave my car. You can park it on the street… yeah…first off it is a main road and 2^nd it says 2 hour parking.
I finally get the car and it is DIRTY! Nasty dirty! Really? Ugh!
When I go to return the car, I call again to see if they have an overnight drop off. Of course not! Why would they. I then ask if I can have a ride home when I drop off the car. Since I am beyond the 3 miles it has to have manager approval. The manager is out to lunch call back at 2. Call back, manager gone. I am 3 miles past the limit! Empower the employee to make a decision! I was then told after being put on hold… that they will do it for me this time. Well I can guarantee you there will never be a next time.
I return the car when they open and get charged for another full day! I was so mad! I plan on calling corporate about this run down, poorly managed location.

The manager at the Placentia Hertz Rental car is the rudest person I have ever dealt with. Tried to rent a car for a week and he wouldn’t answer any questions or help me at all. As a former customer I cannot believe he is the manager. I have never encountered someone so uncooperative and unfriendly. Because of him I will have to find another location. I guess Hertz us unaware that their manager is actually chasing good, long time customers away! Worst service ever!

This place was horrible they left me at the collision center and told me to take an UBER. No curtesy call to tell me (they told the receptionist at collision center). Also, they said they would give me an upgraded car for that mistake. However, the car smelled and was NOT washed on the outside. When I told the manager what happen he said, «I didn’t follow up because the collision center said they would call enterprise for you». Not sure what type of manager is okay with their competition taking their business and not following up. This place needs major help! I’m really not happy with their customer service.

YL is a good site but this 1 star is because of the new corporate add on bill that you will get about 1 month later after you rent. It is called PLATEPASSHERTZTOLL. Hertz does not tell you when you pick up your car, it is buried somewhere in the fine print. Our rental car was used in Ohio and the charge for the toll was in Arizona because the plate is from AZ. RENT SOMEWHERE ELSE UNTIL CORPORATE REVERSES ALL CHARGES. YOU CAN GOOGLE THIS AND SEE THE pending CLASS ACTION SUIT.

Workers make you feel unwelcome. I inspected the car on my own without their help. When I hertz notice some scuff marks they seemed upset I pointed it out to them. This office seemed very unprofessional and customer service was the last thing on their minds. If my auto insurance wasn’t paying for this rental I would have gone elsewhere. I know if ever want to rent a car I am not using Hertz.

Most of the reviews I’ve read here were 2013, since last year I have rented here and had great service this year Jason help me 3 times and every time has been really great he takes you out and shows you what your getting and gives good advice. I would rate this place 5 stars just for the consistency of service I’ve gotten and compare to Enterprise it’s cheaper no hazzel too.

First off I wish I could leave a negative number of stars! I rented a car from this hertz after my sister was involved in an accident, I had the worst experience with hertz they charged my credit card when the insurance should have been billed, the car was dirty when we picked it up, the person we rented the car from told us incorrect information about how the insurance and their company work together and then my credit card was charged. I called and spoke to a manager named danny and he was no help, told me they couldn’t do anything because once the charge was cleared the account was closed! (I’m sure if they didn’t get enough money they could open back up but not if they know they messed up)
would never deal with this whole company ever again and will tell everyone about the horrible experience I had at this company!

I reserved a full size car using the hertz website, at the office I was offered an upgrade to SUV (Toyota RAV4 2013) for 5 dollars, that was a 20 dollars saving.
Great customer service and they have free pickup and delivery service.

When AAA contacted them for a car, the following week I got an immediate email that my car was ready. I told them I needed it next week as holidays had the car repair place shut down. This happened twice… they failed to get it. Then they said hey, you have it for 11 days so use it. No cost to you. Should have figured this out and went elsewhere. OK, so I asked that they call me prior to day I drop off my car. They did not but were there with a car I did not want. I wanted to pick a car. OK, then I had to inspect a banged up car for defects, and there were many. I wonder if I would be charged for those I missed?
OK, got the car, 5 $ 5 a day more than cheapest. Try to find this place its hidden in a Ford dealership. 20 minutes to find it, more to wait for help at desk.
Man I was not happy. They ended up charging me $ 76 for three days so the $ 5 was a joke. If you ever return an car get mileage first, Apparently they charge $ 10 a gallon to top it off plus so many taxes. This was horrendous service and I did report all to AA. Use this at your own risk. I am 68, sober and not prone to making harsh judgments, but these people must have trained at the DMV.

I am an employee of a GE owned company, like Hertz, so I figured that I could use my associate discount to get a rental. I originally called in to get a quote like any normal person would. I was told by a representative named Zoila that they only had mid-​sized vehicles available and I was looking at approximately $ 300/​week. When I asked if I could use my Penske employee discount, I was then rejected saying that she needed a discount code. I then proceeded to check online for some deals. According to the website, this same location was offering small vehicles for $ 101/​week, which was PERFECT!!!
The day that I drop my car off to the body shop, I was picked up by the same rental representative, Zoila. She seemed really nice initially, but once we arrived at the Hertz things took a turn for the worse. Upon finding out my age — which is 23 — she then explained that I would be subject to an underage fee. Fair enough. She then went on to quote me for $ 300/​week… Bare in mind that it was 5−6pm, about the time that they and the shop close up, so despite this sudden rate increase, I really had nowhere else to go and I needed transportation. I asked if she could work something out for me considering how she raised the original quote by over 100% just because of an underage fee (which was never enclosed on the website or anywhere in the office). She then said that my AAA memebership could void the fee! I call them and they explain to me that this is something that Hertz canceled in October… and that the rental representative should have known this. Apparently she didn’t.
I refused to pay the rate and demanded options. She then starts to haggle pricing with me. After a back and forth struggle that dragged on to their closing time, she decided to give me the car for $ 24.99 a day. Not what I wanted, but I didn’t have a choice… It turns out that she put insurance on the vehicle. When I asked if I could opt out AFTER THE FACT, she said that this is a part of the deal and that the rate would raise YET AGAIN if I opted out of the insurance. I’m aware that that get paid a very small percentage for selling insurance on the vehicles — I am in the vehicle rental business as well — so this was just petty… I decided to call it a day. She gave me a cool little VW Golf, but it REEKED of body odor… When I asked for an air freshner, Zoila went to the car with a can of Air Wick and sprayed it down… Now it smelled like BO and flowers… It seemed to be coming from the air conditioning itself. What a perfect way to top off a terrible rental experience.
All in all, I realized that I got a pretty good deal. But the fact that I had to pull teeth and argue with Zoila to get a rate somewhat close to what I was originally posted was just outright ridiculous. What’s the point of making a reservation with a company for a specific rate when it’s just going to change when they pick you up…
TL;DR: 1^st time renting with Hertz. False advertising with rates. CAR SMELLED LIKE SHIT. I’d prefer to rent a bicycle over Hertz from now on.

My experience at Hertz did not start out well. I was scheduled to get my car fixed on a Saturday and when I booked at the body shop, the girl said she would arrange to have Hertz pick me up and brought to their location so I could pick out a car. Great.
After waiting 45 min for Hertz to pick me up, eventually the body shop owner drove me over. Apparently the Hertz place doesn’t do pick ups on weekends, which I’m sure someone should’ve known that. I realize the mistake could have been on the shoulders of the girl at the body shop, but who knows.
I get to Hertz and the process was as normal as any car rental experience could be. I told them I normally drove a Prius and Josh, the clerk tried to find out when any of their Hybrids would be back in stock for me. Unfortunately, none we due back soon.
They put me in a car that I thought was really dirty and smelled like popcorn. It was too big for me and guzzled gas. I was just irritated about the whole situation. I called a couple days later to see if I could trade the car for something smaller, which they said wouldn’t be a problem. An hour or so later, Josh called to tell me a Prius had been returned! I was SOOOO excited. Being that he wasn’t the same person I spoke to earlier in the day, meant he had specifically remembered that I mentioned that’s what I would have preferred.
He really went above and beyond to make sure I was in a car that I felt comfortable in. Although the first car smelled like popcorn, I’m in a brand new Prius until mine gets fixed. :)

I returned to Hertz on 04÷14÷11 and rented a vehicle for a trip to the Kern River… I was greeted at the door by the representative who had my paperwork and keys at the ready; following a visual inspection of the vehicle, the clerk also explained the mechanics and functions of this 2011 model. Everything met with my approval and I was on my way within 3 minutes…
The car was returned on the following Monday and the check-​in process was just as swift. This office is on its toes; if anyone believes my reviews are biased or suspects that I work there, no, I don’t.
I’m a North OC State Licensed investigator with a working territory covering all of So. CA. I just find that occasionally, it feels good to drive nice car… Hertz can make that happen!
