I really like this place, open, tiled floors, and spacious. Been here many times and the owners and staff could not be nicer. Plenty of parking. Compared to restaurants in the area, it is less crowded, quieter, and better food. I have never been disappointed with the variety of the food. This reminds me of nice restaurants in affluent areas in Mexico. The buffet on the weekend is always crowded and popular, so get there early. Prices are reasonable.

I just took my family here for my mom’s birthday and everybody loved it! Good service, great food, very reasonable price for Sunday Brunch, and they have live Mariachi starting at 11:30! The food is laid out in 2 ways– there is a self serve table with salad, fruit, pan dulce(and other sweets), coffee, and aguas frescas. The main courses are served to you by the restaurant. I actually prefer it this way because I know everyone is not physically touching the food, and they give you pretty generous portions. Also, the brunch comes with mimosas!(hell yasss) The only reason for 4 stars is because the place is pretty small and not a whole lot of vegetarian options to choose from the actual main courses. They can make items specially for you but it does cost more. Overall, I will definitely be coming back and bringing more people with me!

I truly enjoyed the riches of my Mexican culture at the Tlaqueplaque in old town Placentia. Sunday here is always my favorite but my birthday celebration was extra special. The champagne brunch and strolling mariachis made my day so special. The buffet has the most tasty carne asada, al pastor and chicken tacos, flavorful tamales, egg and potato dishes and a wide variety of delicious traditional Mexican dishes. The Mariachi’s sang the tradition Mexican birthday folk song to me so beautifully. This is restaurant is a must stop if you like Mexican food.

Was in the area for El Farolito but the wait was crazy long so gave this restaurant a shot. This restaurant was far less crowded, but for some reason, it took awhile to be greeted. I’m not sure if they were understaffed tonight but it seemed like chaos. We were finally seated and quickly served chips and salsa which wasn’t bad at all. I ordered surf and turf and it was delicious! Whoever cooked it, they did a marvelous job. Service once again was terrible. Again, seemed like there was no communication. Never came back to see how we were doing until we were all done. I could have used a refill if they offered or at least a cup of water but no eye contact when they would pass by. Anyways, we got the check and it took forever for them to come back for it. A couple waiters were just sitting next to us just talking and not one asked to see how we were doing. Food was great! Service was far from that. Will probably give it one more shot but definitely left disappointed even though I had one of the best tasting plates in awhile.

Came with my wife & father in law for brunch on a Sunday. Wow, the food is great, brunch price is good, and they have live mariachi while you eat. Tacos & posole is the best. Overall, you can’t go wrong with this place! 5 Stars!

I recently moved to the area and have been looking for good Mexican restaurants(especially ones with good menudo). This place is very nice and the food is delicious. Menudo was on point. They have an amazing Sunday brunch is only $ 16 which includes a buffet, bottomless mimosas and live mariachi. The waiters were very nice and one of them even gave me tips on side streets for my morning commute :-) but they took a while to get service for drinks. I will definitely be back!

I tried this place out finally with some friends and I had the 3 tacos with rice and beans plate. Over all, everything was delicious and had lots of flavor! I liked the carnitas taco the best! The inside was really nice and had an authentic feel to it! Would definitely be returning!

I cannot believe I haven’t writen a review about this place. I have been bragging about this find to friends and family since I found out about it. Mexicans rejoice, this is your authentic Mexican buffet. The ONE you have long looked and waited for. Forget El Torito, this place takes the cake! Every Sunday, you can enjoy their champagne brunch starting at 10 am. Ok, the champagne part is not very Mexican but hey, they had to get white people here somehow, right? Anyway, the set up is a little different than most buffets. You don’t serve yourself, they will serve you. I like this because it’s more hygienic. Less food gets wasted also. They will give you a set portion, but if you want more they’ll give you more, they’re not stingy. Anyway, the selection of Mexican dishes is amazing. Carnitas are juicy, crunchy on the outside and buttery on the inside, just like they should. They have 4 kinds of soups: pozole, menudo, albondigas and chicken soup(caldo de pollo) hmmmmm… the chicken falls of the bone. Everything is so well seasoned. The broths are thick and very flavorful. Albondigas is my all-time favorite soup. You got to try it. Here are some tips from your Mexican foodie: — Chilaquiles: get a plate with just them, order a sunny side up egg, or two, whatever, and ask for some cotija cheese and sour cream on top. Oh breakfast of kings! — Champagne: it’s all you can drink too, so do this, get some of their agua fresca(it varies), guava, watermelon, pineapple, whatever is available, just mix it with your champagne. Ta-da! You have yourself a Mexican mimosa. So, so refreshing! WARNING: chicharron con chile, if you don’t like spicy, skip this. It’s really spicy. The only thing lacking from the buffet is dessert. They usually have bread, fruit and jello. But really you won’t miss it. You will be so overwhelmed by the variety of savory dishes that there won’t even be any space for dessert. If you’re a bottomless barrel though and need to have your sweets, pay a little extra and try their pumpkin flan. It tastes just like mine and I make mine with the finest products so you know it’s good and worth the extra bucks. Ambiance, costumer service? Doesn’t get any better than this. Not sure if the waiters and owners are family, but it sure feels like you’re joining a happy family gathering when you come in. Your cup is never empty here. They check on you like it’s their job, oh wait, it is. Oh and did anyone say Mariachis? YES!!! After 1130, you can enjoy them. I’m picky with my Mexican music, but I have to say, these guys are pretty good. They know every Mexican song out there, and will even play some English if you ask them. The mariachis are part of the brunch extraordinaire, but be nice and tip them. I guess it’s recommended to make reservations on Sundays because it gets busy, but I’ve been very lucky because I never have had to wait. I get there before 11 am though.

My boyfriend and I came to this place after going to get tacos at chronic taco only to find out they were out of chicken. I was hangry and craving Mexican food and fast! We Unilocaled and settled and are very glad we did. This place did not disappoint and was worth our drive from Yorba Linda. I wasn’t really much in the mood to wait for a sit down meal but walking in around 7 pm on a Saturday evening it wasn’t busy at all. The restaurant was clean, warm and inviting. We were promptly seated and our drink order was taken and chips and salsa were brought to our table quickly. There was a lovely pianist in the corner playing beautiful music(be sure to leave him a tip) and the waiter was friendly. The atmosphere changed my hangry mood and we ordered our meals. Carnitas burrito for the boyfriend and the cheese enchilada and hard chicken taco combination for me. I ate every drop of food on my plate and felt overly full, boyfriend was only able to finish half his burrito before he was full. The food was hot(as was the plate!) and I appreciated the cute presentation of the food. It was not like a lot of Mexican places just slop everything on the plate with the beans making your tacos soggy Etc. definitely not the case here! The food was great and the meats in our meals were tender, juicy and full of flavor. We chose to get a flan for dessert with the Unilocal check in offer which they graciously honored. I hadn’t ever had flan before so I can’t compare it to others but it was yummy, next time I will try the churro. Prices were very affordable especially considering how much food you get. The bathrooms were well kept, nicely decorated and even smelt clean. The only downside was that as the place got busier towards the end of our meal the service did slow down but we were enjoying the pianist and atmosphere so I didn’t mind the wait too much. Overall I felt like I was enjoying a home cooked meal in a family members casa rather than in a restaurant. It’s apparent the owners and employees take pride in their restaurant and its upkeep. Forget el torito, chronic taco, chipotle and the others! We will be coming here more often!

Tlaquepaque is our fav. place to enjoy sunday dinner, from their Pozole, to Menudo, Crispy tacos, those are just some of my favorites… if your watching your waist line, there are an assortment of salads to choose from with just the right amount of protein & really great chicken soup with plenty of vegetables, Surf & Turf is another favorite of mine, love the beans, and I always look forward to Tamale Season in December, Queso con Rajas… yum! tamales rojos y verdes, super delish! I’ll be there next Sunday… how about you?

This little restaurant is great their prices are reasonable. And they are fast on their service. They do check up on you but not to the point where tits overwhelming. I love their tacos. Also had a chile relleno it was decent. My son did love his rice presentation it look like a little pyramid, keep in mind he is only 4yrs. Their chips and salsa is also delicious. Not bad at all. We will continue to come back every once in a while.

Came by for a Sunday brunch with hubby. I’m sure we stuck out like a sore thumb, as we aren’t Hispanic. But, we were definitely welcomed into the restaurant without any issues. We had been eyeing their Sunday brunch for several weeks, but only recently had time to try it out. Once they seated us at our table, they invited us to get up and grab whatever plates of food we wanted. I had a small amount of menudo(good), bacon(okay), scrambled eggs with peppers(awesome), carnitas(awesome), chicken(good), beans and rice(awesome and awesome), watermelon mint(?) juice(awesome and so freakin’ refreshing!), and a number of other meats that I don’t remember their names. The quesadillas were good, and any sauces that were used were very tasty. Overall, service was very on point. They provided suggestions, which we were happy about. I will say that I felt very intimidated because I hated just pointing at what I wanted instead of saying what I wanted. There weren’t any signs for the hot foods, so I just had to point, unfortunately. :/How embarassing. For dessert, I had the tortilla chip that had a cinnamon-sugar drizzle on it. That was also very good. I think hubby had one of the jellos, which he liked. Overall, may be back. I would suggest them to put up some signs with the foods so that the non-Spanish speakers could communicate a little bit better, though. But, yes, food, is great!
