I was in placerville and dying for some sushi. After a quick Unilocal check, I found this place. Service was great! The server was very sweet and helpful. I was surprised they had all you can eat… It’s just rare for California. I really liked the inside. Behind the sushi bar is a beautiful salt water fish tank. For the sushi I thought it was PRETTY good. It would’ve been REALLY good had they not drowned the rolls in their special sauces. I thought their presentation was really impressive. It seems like they have a pretty good customer base. They recognized their regulars and made special rolls for them. Overall, I would definitely come back if in the area. I’ll just ask for less sauce! I would love to try the other appetizing rolls on their menu.

I had went to Pollock Pines for work and on the way back to Sacramento decided to stop here and grab some Sushi. From the moment I walked in the place was packed. The bar was full as well so there was no place to sit. Btw, it’s very tiny from the inside. I figured I should just take it to go so I place my order and the waitress told me it would be a 20 minute wait and gave me this look that said(you should come back) but since it was raining outside and I was tired I just stood near the entrance until my order was ready. In the meantime, because space was very limited, they did have a few customers that walked out. I don’t remember what roll I had ordered but it turned out to be really good! Would definitely recommend this place

I chose the all-you-can-eat option for lunch, but soon found out it did not include all the fish selections(including unagi which I like). Nor did it include sashimi! I had to settle for rice-bloated nigiri sushi and inflated under-stuffed rolls. Needless to say I was hungry for fish and the rice trap was blunting my appetite. So I toyed with the idea of kneading the excess into a bolus and sneaking it into the restroom for disposal. But the sushi«artist» behind the bar was obviously trained to anticipate fowl play, and he kept an eagle eye on me — almost challenging me to do something bad with the string of rice nuggets accumulating in front of me, each one chalking up a $ to the establishment while depriving me of my omega-3. I paid up and left without incident.

There pretty good, we had an emergency food crisis and they would not do anything to help us. So if your there your good, but if not they don’t care. Good luck!

I came to Amerikan Ichi for the first time tonight. I ordered the Hawaiian chicken, which I normally get at Japanese restaurants because I’ve never liked sushi. Well, one of the people I was with ordered a few different rolls, and I figured I’d give it a try. I LOVED all of them!!! I had the Godzilla, and Calamari rolls, and some type of spicy seared tuna which was to die for. The Hawaiian chicken was delicious too, and plated beautifully. I will definitely be coming back!

Sushi is ok but too much sweet sauce. Tempura is not good at all. They cut vegetable big. Batter is not right. Also wrong sauce to dip. Tempura does not go with thick sweet sauce!!!

My dad and his wife have been coming here for years, so often that as soon as we sat down at the sushi bar last night, nigiri tuna is handed directly to us before we even have time to place our napkins on our laps. Now THAT is amazing service! All of the staff are very friendly, making sure you have a wonderful experience while there. The fish is fresh and melts in your mouth! I highly recommend the Shelly roll, Macho roll and, most definitely, the No Name! DELICIOUS!

I am a sushi LOVER and I KNOW good sushi(I’m from the Bay Area so that should tell you enough). But we recently moved up to Placerville and have been dying for some sushi and a local recommended this place so we thought we would give it a try. BIGMISTAKE. It took forever just to get our drinks, and upon receiving our sodas they were flat and disgusting. Next we received the appetizer(gyoza) and it wasn’t bad but not the best I’ve had. Next up I ordered the shrimp & vegetable tempura(yes I know this is a «sushi» restaurant) but I was in the mood for an entrée with sushi on the side. So it took about 20 minutes to receive our food and it looked delicious… But once I bite into«deep fried» broccoli I immediately noticed uncooked batter inside YUCK! And then on top of that my shrimps were soggy and cold. So I told the waiter and she said she would bring me a new platter and I guess I was ok with that,(in reality I should’ve told her don’t bother and to refund me) but I thought I’d give it another shot. Upon receiving my «re-fired» food it was a tad better. Ok enough about the entrée, time for the«sushi». We ordered the Godzilla roll(which sounded delicious at the same) and it literally took 30 – 40 minutes to receive. We were full by the time they brought it to our table! But since we ordered it I wanted to give it a try… It looked delicious upon arriving at our table but boy was I WRONG! The fish on the inside was HARD, cold and looked like the sushi chef just clumped up all kinds of different fish and stuffed it inside the roll GROSS! Now this sushi roll was supposed to be «deep fried» but again it was soggy and just plain disgusting. NEVERAGAIN! Now one last little note, as my friend and I were searching through all the different rolls to choose, about 90% of them had an «orange sauce» on them. I mean, COMEON, who the f*ck wants orange sauce on every single sushi roll they order? Overall, I give this place a 1 star because of the so-so service, the soggy food and sad atmosphere. #sorrynotsorry If you want REAL sushi then go to the Bay Area! I’ll give you some amazing suggestions!

What a treat! Friendly, fast service. Yummy sushi. I had the Pink Lady, which was really really good. One of the chefs made a dessert for my daughter, who doesn’t eat sushi, and she loved it!

Being locals now for over three years we’ve made it a point to try out most of the local fare. By the looks of all the glowing recommended reviews and ignoring the 50+ not recommend reviews we’ve concluded Placerville is hard up for good eats. Sorry to say it but this place leaves a lot to be desired, for the following reasons. Prices, 5.50 for a Sierra Nevada and 3.00 for a soda. Don’t even need to discuss the rest. Ambiance. Some obnoxious techno music was blaring too loud. Chef was yammering on loudly in Spanish with a customer at the bar, and the Spanish channel was blaring on the big screen. Just wasn’t feeling it. Service was sub par because a couple that came in several minutes after us we’re eating by the time we finally got drinks. Friendly enough but obviously not paying attention. Lastly the sushi, ugh. The fire roll was anything but fire, along with the other rolls we ordered all were about as mushy and bland as what you’d expect from Raley’s pre made. The seared ahi was ice cold and way too sugary. Seriously save yourself some big bucks and go buy supermarket sushi and a six pack of Sierra for 25 bucks. You’ll be glad you did.

I am actually sitting at the restaurant as I write this. I opted for the all you can eat. Order took 45 minutes to get out. Missing an item in the order and it was acknowledged. Placed 2nd order wave and still item is missing from first order. Then was told about being charged extra if I don’t finish it and was told the reason my Ikura was taking so long is because it was frozen… Do I really care wtf I am sure that if I ordered it and did not do the all you can eat, it would not take over one hour. I am so furious at the moment and still hungry. What is the point of the all you can eat if they are going purposely lag to make you full. This place would have easily gotten 4 stars but my experience is ruined. But the flavors were good :) To update my review… The ikura finally came out after 1 hour and 10 minutes. I am thoroughly convinced that this place baits people with the all you can eat and not care about the customers because I am pretty sure everyone who comes here does not frequent the place because its one of those places so far from everything that they only get a majority of their business from people like me. People coming back from Tahoe or Camping… The food is good but I am going on my 2nd hour here and am still waiting for my 3rd order.
