My first time dining a Grand China, and have to say I am quite impressed! We selected the shared dinner option A, which came with won-ton soup(tasty), fried egg rolls and fried stuffed creamy crab won-ton(very good), pork fried rice(very, very good… I’m picky on my pork fried rice), sweet and sour pork and cashew chicken. Though there were only two of us dining, the portions served were enough to feed five people! Cost is $ 11.25 per person… a screaming deal! The sweet and sour pork had good breading(not too thick), was not fatty and was perfectly cooked. The cashew chicken had generous amounts of chicken, whole cashews, zucchini and celery. My partner preferred a little more salt to the dish, but I found it to be tasty and fine as it was. The iced tea was a good real brew tea… another bonus. Overall… very satisfied and look forward to sampling more dishes to see if this establishment is really 5 stars. Oh… nice and clean and cool inside on a 90 degree day. Very comfortable all around… good staff… meal only took about 10 – 15?minutes to arrive after ordering.

I came in on a Friday during lunchtime. The place was almost empty. I was sat right away and brought water immediately. I really like when they do that. The service was overall okay. The food was really bad however. The sesame chicken gets soggy so quick because it’s drenched in that sauce. The sauce quality could have been better. It tasted diluted and the consistency was runny. The cream cheese won ton’s dough was rancid. They also don’t have Sriracha hot sauce. They have their own version of chili oil except it’s not on oil.

Update: Customer service has greatly improved, food is still to the same quality. The waitresses checked on us twice and had food ready promptly. Thanks so much Grand China!

My review is probably going to parallel others. The Sweet and Sour Soup was the best I’ve had but was also spilled on the saucer. We were served our dinner well before we were finished with our appetizers. The fried rice was pretty good but the General Chicken was dry. The Chow Mein noodles were the size of earth worms and I didn’t care for it. Upon paying I decided not to tip what I might for a great experience but was reasonable. The lady flat out in your face looked at the receipt and rudely walked away. Good Chinese is so hard to find. I have one but it’s a bit further. I’m due to head down to Cameron Park for some :)

Not sure about the negative reviews about service, because it was excellent. Hot and sour soup and crab cheese won tons were yummy. Really liked this place and will come back.

The food is great. I rated it 2 stars because the service stinks. I have talked to the manager a couple of times yet nothing ever changes. They sit you. Wait 5 minutes and come get your order. They don’t even ask you if you would like something else to drink besides water or tea.(They bring the water without asking and in a drought.) They bring your order, which by the way what cost me $ 8.50 a couple of months ago cost me $ 12.10. They drop the plate off. They don’t even provide serving spoons. They wait until they think you are finished and drop the check off. That is it. They never ask you how the food is, they never ask if you want anything else. The place is never full and I am sure it is because of the service. If they provided customer service this place would be packed.

Today was our third time at Grand China. The first time for lunch was a good experience. Good food, good portions and great service. The second time was for dinner and while the food was good again although the service sucked. Not friendly, rude and short. Today is our third and last time. We came for lunch again and low and behold it’s the attitude waitress again. Makes faces while you order and is short and rude. Then my hubby gets his wonton soup with an added item… A HAIR. Yikes. We will have to find a new place!

The Reviews for Grand China seemed to be mixed, so here goes my experience. They have a pretty big menu and lunch specials if you will. I opted to go for the Orange Chicken with Fried Rice Lunch Special. Once we got seated they gave us some wonton soup(piping hot). Soon after we ordered the food came out extremely quickly. The Orange Chicken was covered in sauce and the fried rice looked very dry. The whole dish was tasteless. It’s pretty hard to mess up Orange Chicken, it just didn’t have any flavor! Won’t be back.

Maybe I went there on an off day. Got our food to go and when we got it home, the mongolian beef was swimming in oil. Nothing was what I would call«bad», it was just bland — the beef, the garlic shrimp and green beans, the house special chow mein. The shrimp were a bit fishy, just as another reviewer stated. All pretty much tasteless. The restaurant itself is very pleasant, but I’m going to keep looking for better.

This has to be the best Chinese food I have eaten– ever! The daily special was abalone and salty pepper fish. Fresh from the Bay and it was delicious. Garlic green beans — pork fried rice — walnut shrimp — General chicken… it was a feast. To make a long story short, don’t miss out on this place. It is worth the trip and is going to be a weekly dinner for us from now on. Mario H.

Once again the best Chinese food out there! This place is a hidden gem! Today the specials were salt and pepper chicken and abalone combo! Where can you even get this stuff! And the prices are crazy good. Everyone needs to try this place. Thanks again for an awesome meal you never disappoint!

Chinese food isn’t that difficult to do… and they missed the mark. The food was tasteless, and it came out way too fast to give me the impression that it had been sitting around waiting for an order. The shrimp in the house fried rice was very fishy(fresh seafood doesn’t smell like fish!). The orange beef was partially cold and had a bit of an old meat taste. The general chicken we ordered was bland, no spice at all. The restaurant overall was clean and had a nice updated feel. With so many Chinese food restaurants to choose from in the area, we won’t be coming back to this place.

We were so lucky to stumble onto this place yesterday, hidden as it is in the back of a small shopping center, so you may have to hunt for it a bit. It’s a very nice place physically, much more attractive than your average Chinese restaurant with lots of booths, neat and clean and understandably busy, but with quick efficient service by a larger than usual staff that is fast and friendly. The Happy Family lunch special was really good with the long pointy mushrooms we like, so we got some entrees to go as well. It comes with won ton soup, which was excellent also. The abalone with black mushrooms was nothing short of fantastic. It was chock full of those large black mushrooms that you can’t get in Amador County for love nor money, with snow peas and water chestnuts combined with generous number of slices of white abalone with snow peas in a mild sauce, naturally, so as not to overpower the delicate taste of the abalone. It was a special on the chalkboard yesterday, but is also listed on their regular dinner menu. Also ridiculously delicious was the Mongolian style lamb. I’d say Placerville is very lucky to have this place and we’re lucky that it’s not too far away. We’ll be back, soon and often.
