Stumbled onto this place last night. Quaint atmosphere with great blues music playing in the back ground. Loved the California twist on Cajun food. Had Blackened Salmon cooked to perfection! I will be back to try the Jambalaya and the mocha ice cream dessert

We were walking up Main Street one afternoon and saw a small sign placed out on the sidewalk that advertised Cajun & creole cuisine. At that time weren’t hungry, but last night, when deciding on a dinner spot, I recalled that little sign and suggested we go there. The Levee is not a big restaurant, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in ambiance, good food and good service. I had one of the dinner specials, red beans and rice and my husband had a spicy chicken dish with penne(I forget the name). We both enjoyed our food and had their version of mud pie for desert, which we also liked. The server Brandy was very good. She had several tables, but never forgot anything we asked for and was overall very sweet. I liked her very much. The owner is super nice and just overall lovely to talk with. We really liked this restaurant and intend to dine here in the future.

We got in there just in time. After us, the hostess turned away groups of 6 and even couples due to lack of space. We saw many tables in the back and were not sure why the hostess was turning people away. The service was poor. We were told that we would have to wait at least 30 minutes for our food, but no one came to bring us drinks. The food was good. We had the coconut shrimp and the ribeye.

We were in town for Oktoberfest and were checking out the local spots. A business owner in the same complex as this restaurant confirmed there was a creek that ran behind the property and pointed us towards the water. The lack of signage and a proper hostess table for this restaurant led us straight into the«outdoor dining area» i. e some patio furniture on a deck. Apparently this is a no-no and our apologies for encroaching upon your dining space but the employee could have a been a little kinder with her words. You never know when a lookie-loo could turn into a regular customer so I would expect more from a new restaurant. Our first impression was not the southern hospitality I’m accustom to.

We went here for lunch many months ago(do they still serve lunch?). Took us forever to get served, like ½ hour! Sorry, that’s poor service for people who have to get back to work. Food was fine.

God, how I hate to be wrong! A good Cajun restaurant in little old Placerville California? «Not likely!» I said. Because of a bad experience 19 years ago with a restaurant that used to occupy the building«The Levee» is now in, I wasn’t eager to visit and be tricked again. And on top of that, I get more nervous about«Cajun food» with every mile it is removed from The French Quarter in NOLA. But Gigi(aka: «She Who Must Be Obeyed») said she really wanted us to give it a chance. So in we went! It has been totally transformed! It is warm, inviting and comfortable. It has the soft, wonderful aroma of a true Southern Cajun restaurant. We were instantly greeted by Lori, who became our great server. Within minutes we had also met and chatted with the owners, Robert & Sonya Huff(Sonya, by the way, is a true Southern Belle!). They made us feel as if we were guests in their home. Oh! The food and wine? Excellent! We’ll have to visit several more times to try all of the dishes we wanted to sample! In fact, the food was so good, we asked to meet and compliment the chef. His name is Eric and he is a fine young man who really knows his stuff! So when in Placerville California on a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday night, even if just pausing on the way to or from Lake Tahoe, do yourself a favor and put«The Levee» on your«must try» list! All the best! Ben & Gigi Gay WWW.BFG3.COM

My husband and I came here for our anniversary. We had never been before and the service & food exceeded my expectations by far! My husband had the blackened catfish which was so flavorful! And I had the ribeye steak which you must ask for their spicy brown gravy to dip in. We also had boudin balls which is not on the main menu which were AMAZINGYUMMYNESS! For dessert we had the tres leches(which was the best I ever had)! LOVE this place and will be a forever loyal customer!

We had a group of 10 visit The Levee and all ordered items were exceptional. The appetizers were beyond exceptional! Mussels were as good as I’ve ever had. Authentic Louisiana cuisine.

Amazing place to stop if you’ve been checking out the local winery’s. We had a party of eight, and couldn’t have asked for a more phenomenal, and authentic, Cajun dining experience. Our waitress(forget her name, she was the owners daughter and had a very long braid) was an absolute delight, and provided us with a wide array of daily specials and descriptions of each. We decided to order a bottle of Madrona wine(local winery we checked out prior to Levee’s) and an appetizer of baked Brie and Philly cheesesteak sliders. We had a Philadelphian in our party who raved of the sliders, and the Brie was accompanied with roasted garlic and delicious chutney. Many members of our party opted for Jambalaya, which could be served traditionally with rice, or pasta. Those who opted for rice stated the sauce was a little more watery to allow the rice to absorb better, and the pasta yielded a slightly thicker sauce. I tried both, I preferred the Jambalaya over pasta. I had the stuffed salmon, served over yellow rice with broccoli and carrots. The salmon was stuffed with a crab cake type mixes with white wine cream sauce and capers. The salmon was cooked to perfection. If you’re interested in an authentic Cajun meal, or even looking for a fresh take on classics(steak, grilled chicken, etc) check it Levee’s! Incredible service and quality of food. When we return to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, we will Absolutely return to Levee’s.

Delicious food, great atmosphere. I recommend the chicken«YA-YA». Just the right amount of spice and the chicken is super tender. For desert, try the mud pie. Absolutely delicious. It takes a bit for the food to come out but definitely worth the wait– besides, if you’re with good company, you’ll hardly notice.

What a delightful place. Tucked off the main drag, this little gem presents dinners created from farm to table. My dinner, stuffed salmon, was fabulous. My dinner companions had blackened catfish. Ginger crème brûlée for dessert. We’ll be back! Wednesday and Thursday 5 – 8; Friday and Saturday, 5 – 9. Live music every Friday night.

Unbelievable blackened catfish with a sauce of scallops and prawns. Terrific. My date’s rib eye was Harris Ranch Beef, cooked perfectly and covered the plate. Her garlic mashed were very good. The company was nice, the other patrons were friendly, it was a nice dining experience and we’ll definitely go back. Nice wine list and a couple of solid beers on tap. Part of the Ghost Tour. Trippy place, a must in Placerville.

The Levee has just introduced monthly Fat Tuesday appetizers and wine pairing from a local winery. Tonight was terrific with Madrona pouring everything from Rose to Barbera and Port to match up with great bites of spinach pizza and rice crusted Jambalaya pizza, Nice music from Ken Teel just added to the intimacy of the evening which for just $ 5.00 was a winning bargain. Next one is December 9th.

Went there for dinner and it was clear that things were not very organized. It took a very long time for our order to be taken and the appetizer/main course took a long time too. Then when our main course finally arrived, my seafood was raw in the middle(which I sent back). Also, the salad was delivered after the main course, which was a little unusual. The flavor of the food was okay. My husband ordered a jambalaya dish was was expecting there to be more meat for the price. Instead the jambalaya had a lot of pasta served with it. My dad ordered the steak and he said it was very chewy. Overall, not a great experience and we were hoping it would be, since my husband loves cajun food. Also, no crawfish on the menu which he was hoping to order from a Cajun restaurant.

This place is bit hard to find, but well worth. About the only restaurant around that serves really good Cajun style cooking– spiced for Yanks, but can be made hot by request(I did, it was) Good wine selection, a little limited on the beer, just a couple on tap but many bottled. Cozy but not cramped. One the the VERY few places in town with outdoor seating, and stream side at that, Very friendly staff. They advertise live music most weekend nights, very good quality the couple of times I caught it. Service can be a little slow, but they said all food is cooked fresh to order and just takes a while, so don’t plan a rush dinner here. Definitely a must visit in Placerville.

My wife and I went for dinner on a Friday evening. We were greeted immediately by the owner and wait staff which were warm and friendly. We started with the Salmon cakes, then had the Blackened Catfish and Pork Roulade, with a Mint Chocolate Crème Brulee, all of which were awesome. Everything was prepared wonderfully and had great flavor. There was also a live musician which was a plus that just added to the ambiance. Eric, the chef came to our table and gave us descriptions of meals which greatly helped in our ability to chose what we wanted. Everything about our dinner and experience was positive and would recommend you give it a try. Thank you to Sonya, Eric and Cheryl for a great meal and experience.
