Staff is always friendly — one young man actually goes out of his way to open the door for all the customers on their way in — a very nice welcome! True, they only have 4 flavors and 2 don’t change, but the other 2 are always interesting, and we don’t mind — it’s really nice to find really good fro yo in a small town! At $.49/ounce, yes, a little pricey, but they are a small business and can’t compete with the likes of Costco, so I feel it’s worth it — we go every Friday night!!!

Went in to finish off a gift cert. I had been going by for several weeks hoping to catch them when they had some good flavors. they technically have 4, but since 2 never change, chocolate and vanilla, and I can get much cheaper 8 oz frozen yogurt in either those flavors singly or swirled at Costco for $ 1.35 plus tax versus $.49/ounce(almost $ 4⁄8 oz), it is the 2 flavors that they change weekly that I looked for. Finally had something interesting, banana and dulce de leche, so I used up my card. The server was much more engaging on this visit, she seemed like she enjoyed her job more than that last server I had. They need 2 more flavors to rotate, and more dry topping before I will go in and pay with my own money.

The yogurt is delicious and the interior of the shop is clean and nice with the train collection on the wall. The cashier was welcoming and friendly. We’ve gone twice now and will continue to get our frozen yogurt from The Whistle Stop Yogurt.

Selection is terrible and toppings are few also… the drive to shingle springs urban yogurt is worth it… they have 8 flavors to choose from and a frequent buyer program

Just went to whistlesop for frozen yogurt, my husband and I got the smallest cup of vanilla, 1 of 4 flavors they have with a topping of strawberry and maybe a couple of chocolate chips. We went to the register and paid. Getting home looked at our receipt and found that we were charged $ 14.00. Unacceptable. I can not believe that our 2 small cups cost this much. Rite aid is right down the street and I can get 2 gallons of ice cream for $ 7.00. I will never go there again.

We were driving back from Tahoe, sitting in too much traffic on a hot day. Whistlestop cheered us up! They have four flavors and tons of toppings to choose from. Take as much as you want, weigh and pay. We’ll be back again!

Well I’m conflicted about this place. Originally I had really liked it, I was greeted nicely and felt pretty welcomed there. Now I’m not so sure. One the one hand, they have good stuff. I love frozen yogurt. I wish they had more options for flavors but I understand being a small business. On the other hand, after my first visit I no longer receive the nice hello and the smile which I had initially expected. Granted, it’s a self-service place so there’s not a whole lot of customer service to be had HOWEVER I would expect that when I try to make conversation with the employee, I’d receive some sort of feedback other than a chuckle/smirk of complete disinterest.

Yummy! Mom and Pops owned. They also own the Placerville Coffee Depot in the same parking lot(which I can honestly say is the best coffee shop I’ve ever had a drink at)

Great place to go! People were friendly and the Yogurt was Great. The only complaint is that I wish they posted the calories of the yogurt. Overall, this is a 5 star place!

CURRENTHOURS: (as of 5÷31÷13) Monday 11:00 am — 9:00 pm Tuesday 11:00 am — 9:00 pm Wednesday 11:00 am — 9:00 pm Thursday 11:00 am — 9:00 pm Friday 11:00 am — 9:00 pm Saturday 11:00 am — 10:00 pm Sunday 11:00 am — 10:00 pm PROS: 1. Creamy tasty yogurt. 2. The flavors change every 2 days. 3. Nice people working there. 4. Extreme selection of toppings and chocolate/carmel/marshmallow sauces. 5. Vanilla and Chocolate always an option if you happen to not dig the flavor of the day. CONS: 1. One machine has been broken multiple times that I have gone. It also happens to be on the changing flavor side, so if you have been waiting for your Irish Mint all week, and you stop by you will be sorely disappointed if the machine starts acting up. 2. I am a member of their frequent buyer club(I have a card, its official) and I have not gotten my free yogurt! We have gone at least 1−2x a week and buy $ 8-$ 10 of yogurt each time. Its been a few months, so not sure if that whole program is legit. LINKTOFLAVORCALENDAR:

The taste and texture of the frozen yogurt is very smooth, silky, and light. Best of all, the taste is very good. I was impressed and I will be a regular at this place. I like how the flavors change every 2 – 3 days. The variety of toppings is not at all big but that’s not a bad thing because this place has all the all-time favorite toppings. I only gave it a four star because of the variety of toppings/sauces, etc.

Kevin at Whistle Stop is the greatest! We were craving serious soft serve(like the kind you get at foster freeze, dipped in chocolate to boot) so we went to Tom’s but they were closed. On a whim, we called Whistle Stop and upon asking, «do you have any ice cream that ISN’T fat-free» we were given the best sales pitch for frozen yogurt ever. By sheer coincidence, we were driving by and decided to stop in and get samples — which of course lead to the real deal. Me: pistachio and cookies/cream, hard shell chocolate, hot fudge, chocolate chips, oreos, raisinettes, gummies AND sprinkles(take that fat-free!). Him: vanilla, cookies and cream, hot fudge, hard shell and strawberries(damn him). Kevin succeed in being sweet and charming while we sat and ate. Thanks Whistle Stop! We’ll be back.

good«fro-yo» as is the hip way of saying it, and it’s open past 8 at night(till 10 by god!). Like the other reviewer said. nothing in this town is open until 10… it’s like once«wheel of Fortune» is over, the town goes to bed.

It’s so nice that they are open until 10, in Placerville. NOTHING is open until 10. 10 pm in this town is like 5 am in New York City… and it bites. But this little shop is super yummy, and the service is always very friendly. Only one complaint(agree with other reviewer)…if you are gonna do the«hip» yogurt thing… why not serve the Original Tart all the time? Sometimes I stop in and have to leave because the other available flavors taste just like soft serve ice cream, which to me ruins the point of going to fro-yo in the first place. But the tart is SOOOO good. And so is the butter pecan and the pomegranate.

Nothing beats chocolate vanilla swirl with sprinkles in frozen yogurt land! We tried out this cute little shop this afternoon and it was wonderful. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. Even let us try the flavors first. We’ll be back for sure!

Great fro yo. I just wish they had the tart yogurt all of the time! They always have vanilla and chocolate and then there are 2 other flavors that change ever other day. Topping selection is pretty good and price is right for what you get. My only wish is the shop was a little more luxurious to sit and eat your fro yo at, if it were it would make a great casual place to meet friends for a snack. As it is now, its not really a place I want to sit around and enjoy my yummy snack. Still awesome frozen yogurt.

Fun little place in the west end of Placerville. Sparkling clean. Self serve. Choose from 4 kinds of yogurt(and feel free to mix them in the cup or cone) and then add a variety of toppings, fruits, syrups, etc. The charge is by weight. They currently have a pumpkin yogurt — very yummy.
