I came here with my parents last weekend. It’s a little farm house place near Plain City. We each did the 5 tastings for $ 5 which was a STEAL because the pours he gave us were extremely generous. The feng shui is off in this place. There are cases of wine in every room along with the tables and chairs. I didn’t find it very relaxing. They do offer outdoor seating for when it gets warmer and that space looked exceptionally relaxing so I’d like to go back to experience that aspect. Their wine is just ok. A lot of their wines had a musty flavor. Not terrible but not my cup of tea, er wine. One of the owners was serving up the wine for us and they pretty much all tasted the same unless you got a really sweet wine. He was very knowledgeable and explained each wine to us. He also gave a us a rundown of the place and that they make most of their wine with grapes from Ohio growers which is awesome. You can buy bottles of wine and drink it there or do the tastings and get a little cheese and cracker plate with it. It’s cozy but if they did a little more with the ambiance, I think this place could be even better.

My husband and I came across this Unilocal page a few nights ago and were very surprised to learn there is a winery in our tiny town. We decided to stop in last night. It’s a decent little winery with a good selection of wine. Husband and I opted for 5 tastes each($ 5 apiece) and the $ 5 cheese and cracker appetizer. While all in all the wines were good, the cheese and crackers were disappointing; 3 individually wrapped cheeses(including a babybel wheel) like I would take to work as a snack and a bag of wheat thin-like crackers. The server was attentive but not very knowledgable about wine in general. When we asked if a particular was good she said she didn’t really know much about wine, just likes sweeter offerings. Most of the wines here are very sweet with the exception of the Cabernets. The Steam Thresher and TwoCabs were my favorites but I went home with a bottle of the White Top house white(even though I’m not a big white or sweet wine fan). Husband went home with a bottle of the Cabernet Franc(which I wasn’t impressed with). The hours are limited but we will probably head back here again, maybe with friends from out of town.

Let me say up front that I rarely drink. I might have a glass of champaign at a wedding or a glass of wine once or twice a year, but that’s about it. Therefore, I’ll leave it up to someone else with more expertise to review their wines. I wanted to check out this place to see what the owners have done with the old farmhouse that they are restoring. Yesterday evening I went there with my brother and a friend, and we had a very nice time. If you’ve read my other reviews, you have probably gathered that some of my favorite places are the ones that are in old buildings that have been restored. Eldchrist Winery is a new, family-run business, and they have really done amazing work on this farmhouse and are turning it into a very lovely place. They make the wine right on the premises and have created a very welcoming, homey atmosphere for people to enjoy their wine. The prices seem very reasonable, too. We chatted with the owner for quite a while. This family seems to really care about what they are doing with this farmhouse and what they are bringing to the community. You are going to want to check out their web site before you go, since they currently have limited tasting room hours.
