Our go-to Indian restaurant west of I465! India Bistro is hidden among the strip mall complexes in Plainfield. Once you find it, though, it stands out like a deliciously modern sore thumb(if that can be a thing). I typically order take out and have yet to be disappointed. The butter chicken is full of sweet flavor and the chicken is tender. The only problem we’ve ever had was that my wife got a very fatty piece of chicken on our first visit. That hasn’t stopped us from coming back though. The interior of the bistro is modern and inviting. Though small, the shop contains multiple different seating arrangements to accommodate a variety of group sizes.

Great Indian restaurant, attentive staff, and good prices. We have been looking for a good Indian restaurant on the westside/Avon area and haven’t been able to find one until now. I was very happy with our meal here and we will be back.

Wonderful staff! Our waitress was very attentive and helpful(this being our first visit). I took her suggestion and had the number 56. It was some kind of chicken but it was very delicious! I will definitely be back for more!

Delish! This was my only experience with Indian food so my opinion probably doesn’t carry much weight but I definitely enjoyed all of it and will be back soon!

Little gem of variety in Plainfield. We’ve eaten here many times, both dine in and carry out. And the buffet is a great opportunity to try new things. Excellent quality food with large portions and very reasonable prices. Hands down the most friendly staff in Hendricks County. Always a pleasure

This is the only Indian restaurant in the Avon/Plainfield area that I’m aware of at the moment, and the food is about average. I always get chicken tikka masala and garlic naan, so this is what I use to compare restaurants. The chicken tikka is good, but the sauce is not the most flavorful I’ve ever had. The naan is sometimes dry or overcooked, but good when fresh. The service is great and the online ordering system works well, I’ve never had any issues with it. I would recommend giving this place a try if you haven’t yet, and I plan to keep coming back unless another one opens up on the west side.

Mighty portions. Beware! Fantastic tandoori chicken. Gobi manchu meh. Chilli paneer was A-ok. Interestingly every dish I ordered had onions and bell pepper. Are there no other veggies here?

We eat here regularly, because it’s the closest restaurant of this type to the area. This is a refreshing deviation from the typical venue that these are known for. You order much like a small take-out Chinese place and sit down wherever you please with nice hot food. They serve cans of drinks or cups of water. Inside it’s stylish and clean, and staff is always very friendly and checking in regularly. They really do care about their customers. They are also open to suggestions/requests. We know from other restaurants that we like cumen in the rice, and they are more than happy to add it in for us. We prefer the tikka masala dishes, and they tend to be tasty but slightly less flavorful than others in Greater Indy, almost like the meat is placed in a sauce rather than having flavors baked in, but just guessing here. Spice is very mild. Overall very happy this is here, and we will continue coming. If we find ourselves with time to drive all the way into downtown Indy, there are a couple tastier(although more expensive) options.

Love! Love! Love! India Bistro. The food is oh so delicious! If you like Indian food, they you will enjoy India Bistro. If you haven’t tried, then you should be an adventurous eater & give them a chance. Not only is the food excellent, but the staff is friendly & the bistro is always clean.

Amazing! I don’t say this very often. The food was delicious, great atmosphere but what really makes them different is the staff. Hands down the most hospitable approach to customers I have experienced in ages. This combo makes it a five star review.

Visiting family in Plainfield, Indiana, I wasn’t expecting an Indian restaurant in the area. I especially wasn’t expecting a Indian restaurant with food that provided a serious kick. I went during lunch hours. Indian Bistro had a staffed-served buffet going on so I was greeted by a gentleman. Being that I was taking out, I was allowed to order from then menu. Chicken vindaloo and chicken masala is what I ordered, both hot. Both were delicious! If you want to be picky, the sauces could have a bit more spice complexity, but they’re good, and the chicken was high quality and tender. The entrees are served with rice(naan is extra).

I have been to India Bistro 3 times and I really enjoy this little spot for lunch. I need to go for dinner soon. Walking in there is always a friendly smile behind the counter. Lunch is a bit different — it’s a buffet where the staff serves you. There are meat and veggie dishes both. I would love to be able to tell you everything they have but it changes often. From chicken and goat to chickpeas and spinach — there is something for everyone. After you get your tray grab a seat. Naan is brought to your table. Dip your naan in sauce — just a little piece of heaven.

Wow. Stopped in before flight at around 2:40, buffet ended at 3 but there was still fresh and plenty. Didn’t have samosas so they went in the back and got me one. Had one tray and I was done! $ 7.99 for lunch buffet but couldn’t get past one serving was so full. I regret this was the last day I was here but was the best meal I had all week!

Great service! We had multiple employees come to our table to greet us and ask how we were doing. Everyone seemed friendly and cheerful, and the food was so good! Stopped by on our way to the Plainfield Aquatic Center with my husband and toddler. My son loved the Chicken Briyani. I had the Saag Paneer and Aloo Mutter, both were delicious. The prices were so reasonable that I opted for two dishes! So much food that we will be taking some home. No complaints here. This was our makeshift anniversary dinner, and we had a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back next time we are on this side of town. Only wish we lived closer to India Bistro. Would stop by weekly!

I was shocked when I checked-in via Unilocal on Saturday night & found out that India Bistro only had 14 Unilocal reviews(although if you include the«filtered» reviews… it has around 24). I was even more shocked that it seemed pretty empty at 6:30 on a Saturday night… What?!? People, you are missing out! This weekend was our 3rd visit to India Bistro. I have no clue why we haven’t dined there more frequently, because it is excellent! The menu is straight-forward, and has all of the«usual favorites» along with some menu items you don’t see at every Indian restaurant in town. Each time we have been there, the food has been outstanding. It is fresh, has generous protein portions, and is well-spiced. We typically order our Indian food«hot,» and while I think they could amp up the«hot» level is the creamy/yogurt’y dishes(Like Chicken Tikka Masala), in our experience at India Bistro, the non-creamy dishes tend to have the right level of «hot» for our taste buds. While India Bistro does not have a buffet(which is totally fine with me), they do have an awesome looking«Pick 5» or «Pick 6» lunch special. Unfortunately, since neither of us work in the Plainfield area and our weekends tend to be packed with other obligations, we haven’t gotten to try this yet :-/. I really wish they would offer it during dinner time at least once a week. Otherwise it is too easy to stick with your«tried & true» favorites, instead of exploring the menu a bit more. Service: In our 3 visits, it has always been great. You walk in, grab a menu, decide on your order, & then go up to the counter to order. They will then bring it out to you once it is ready(Read: Not full table service, with wait staff taking your order, bringing a bill, etc). I really like this set-up and it has to be easier for the staff as well. One suggestion: Make a set of menus available as you walk in the door during non-lunch times. It would just make the process flow a little bit better. I think every person stopped in to check on us during our meal, asked us our input on the food/spice level, etc. It was a nice touch, albeit maybe a bit too involved :-). Environment: While I don’t eat at places based on their aesthetics(cleanliness: yes, aesthetics: no), this restaurant is beautifully decorated for a small bistro. The woodwork on the left side of the café as you enter, reminds me of the guts of a grand piano, and is oddly comforting for some unknown reason [to someone still traumatized by mandatory childhood piano lessons]. The stone tile work & seating area next to the fireplace is a nice touch as well. Regarding cleanliness, this place is spotless. With as much care is taken in the dining room area, I’m sure the kitchen is equally clean. Tips: Their menu is available online if you want to browse it before you go. They also offer online or phone ordering for pick-up/carry out.

My husband and I had heard some good things about this little restaurant. It’s hidden away in a strip and the outside doesn’t look very inviting. We finally decided to try it! The atmosphere inside is very cozy and friendly. You go up and order at the register and they bring the food to you. Very large servings. The food was great. I stuck with the basic Chicken Tikki Masala. So good. The service was great and so friendly!
