Love this store! The overall prices are good and I live that it’s s super store! Produce is usually fresh & meat is pretty good as well. Only issue I have is that they never have enough cash registers open & most of the cashiers don’t care how they bag your groceries. They should train their employees on the that.

This is the largest grocery store I’ve ever seen! Meijer’s aren’t as prevalent in my burbs, so I wanted to stop in and see what it was like. You could definitely spend way too much time and money here getting basically everything you could need to live comfortably, but we only needed booze. We walked the entire grocery side and were about to leave when we finally noticed a sign that said«Party Room» along the front of the store, just past the registers. I thought it was cool they had an Illinois and Michigan beer section to highlight local favorites, but it was a little misrepresented– they had interesting choices but it seemed like other craft beer choices from around the USA were also thrown in here to use up all the space. We found what we needed at a fair price. I would come back just to get some walking in and see what else I could find here!

Hey everyone!!! Just want to let you know that the Meijer at 135th and rt 59 in Plainfield has an issue with the credit card security at their gas pumps. I bought gas there and my credit card was compromised less than a week later. Happened a about a year ago also… Called and spoke with the store manager who just about called me crazy. So either pay cash or avoid that gas station!!!

Not all meijers are created equally. Remember that when you are doing your next meijer run. I typically shop at the Oswego meijer and I am so glad that I do. For starters the produce department gets picked over more than Plainfield but Oswego has better looking produce and it lasts. Items in grocery are more frequently in stock. However the biggest factor why the Plainfield meijer is worth one star is their lack of customer service with emphasis on items not ringing up at the correct price. When I have questioned them on it they refuse to honor the price that the item was marked at and to top it off every time it has happened they try to put the blame on me. For example I was accused of taking video games out of the locked cases and putting them under the $ 19.99 or less header. Or the time that frozen french fries were 5 for $ 10 on the shelf and the 5 bags rang up at $ 17. by no means am I saying you should boycott this meijer if you do shop here use the self scan lanes so you can keep a better eye on what your items ring up at.

That old girl ain’t what she used to be! The international aisle is decent for a big box grocery store, and I have better luck here than at Wal-Mart. I mostly buy packaged and dry goods here, the odds and ends I can’t find at Aldi or Caputo’s. The meat and produce variety isn’t bad either. I shop at this location about every two weeks, or stop in for«emergency items,» but I try not to. It’s a lot less of a clusterf*ck than the Aurora store, but the employees are just as obvious that they do not want to help you. The only reason I still shop here is for the self checkout, but their self checkout has failed numerous times, and not due to user error. I scanned a coupon, and the whole system just shut down. I had to re-do my entire transaction. The only reason I put up with this BS is because I like to bag my own groceries. Recently, I went through the self checkout with some yogurt. They rang up incorrectly. The employees at the«cashier stand» both looked like I was asking them to donate a kidney when I asked for assistance. Neither of them wanted to go check the price(of course, I was right and the register was wrong). One of the girls just wandered away to chat with a friend in the liquor department while I stood there. I really should have just walked out with my cart full of groceries. There used to be an Asian dude greeting people at the front door. He was always smiling and polite. I haven’t seen him in awhile. But he’s the only person in the store that deserves a paycheck.

Normally I would never Unilocal a grocery store but the customer service is so good I think Meijer deserves some love! Every time I shop(mostly Saturdays) the employees ask if I need help finding anything(or maybe I look lost?!?) or say hello. They offer lots of yummy samples at lunch too. :)

Pretty much any Meijer that you go to, if you absolutely need to find something find any staff member and they’ll have no idea where it is. Be wary as chances are you’ll run into expired or rancid food. Be careful of the clearance on food products as they are usually within hours or seconds from getting someone sick or worse dead. Deli meats usually expire within one to two days of purchasing so don’t buy too much unless you are using all of it for parties and such. I do shop here, but very careful of what I am buying. Returned several gallons of milk here the other day as the milk was curdled and tried to exchange. I told front desk I would exchange which wasn’t any problem but the two new gallons I picked up I opened in front of the associate and those were also curdled. Associate nearly threw up on me. This is when the associate told me that I was the third or fourth person to return curdled milk that morning and they were going to recall all of the milk at that point. This is your warning, but I am in no way telling you not to shop here.

I spend far too much time in this Meijer. It’s clean, the staff is nice, and they have samples. What else could you want?

It just kills me(and target and meijer are both guilty of this) that at 730 on a weeknight(when there are plenty of people in the store!) that 1 register is open. Self check-out is great but it doesnt work for every circumstance. I wandered the store for about 15 minutes before finding the first item on my list(without making eye contact with an employee the whole time… and never even saw anyone on the ‘floor’ except in the electronics dept… in which one was yelling to the other that ‘everyone should know a ream of paper is 500 pages’. I do love the things i overhear when people should be working or helping customers. It doesn’t make me mad, but its things I know the higher ups would roll their eyes over =P I was going to say that I made it through the entire place(having spent close to 35⁄40 minutes there) without making eye contact with a single member of the Meijer team, but they did have a greater at the door. EVENTUALLY i found 4 of the 5 items on my list and then hit the self checkout, then went across the street to Jewel to finish up the list.

I love Meijer’s produce. It is pretty darn fresh and most of time tastes great! The meat has always been good quality, although I can’t comment on their seafood as I always purchase that from Wholefoods. It’s great that it’s open 24 hours!

Thank you Meijer for your produce section. I have been getting consistently high-quality produce at reasonable prices for years. I appreciate that all of your mushrooms are organic. I love that you get organic honeycrisp apples in the fall. I love the organic nectarines that you have been stocking all summer for $ 1.29 per pound. And I love your honeyrock cantaloupes and watermelons this season Last weekend, I picked up a $ 2.99 watermelon that was the best one I have had in years. Thank you for the wide variety of produce(especially the organics). I will continue to be a regular customer.

Suburban bliss at its finest! This Meijer is big, clean, newer, has a great selection, and I love their house generic brand, especially of organic items. Large meat and produce selection, great low prices. I haven’t had any customer service issues(yet). I love coming here when I visit family in Plainfield.

This is a hard place to review. They have good prices, but other than that it’s a poorly managed shit hole. Ever since it opened, they allow employees to smoke directly in front of the entrances. So I have to walk through a cloud of smoke to get in. They also yell and swear at each other inside and outside of the store. Right in front of my small children. Also, TWICE I’ve been in line to checkout, get near the front of the line, and the cashier suddenly closes the lane to go on break. Other times they will have on cashier open, but way, way clear down on the other side of the store. I mean, I like exercise, but this gets ridiculous! On the bright side they always have soda on sale. And it’s open 24 hours.
