Ordered an 8″ German chocolate cake for a celebration of several birthdays — complete success! Served 11 the first night and five servings for the next night. Moist, firm — stayed fresh tasting for four days. Value for money.

Improved since my first visit. I had not been here since they moved to a better location. The location seems to be working as they are busier and the cupcakes were much more moist. Red velvet was nothing to go crazy about but the tuxedo was very good. Prices are on par with other cupcake places.

Disappointed. With 48 hours noticed, they refused to make a dozen salted caramel cupcake for pickup on Wednesday because«they don’t make salted caramel cupcakes on Wednesdays». Even with plenty of notice, this seems like a bad business practice. Then, when I picked up the cupcakes I ordered, a dozen of them had the frosting smashed. When I asked them to remake them, I was given the response«well, why can’t you serve these?» Because I just paid you for cupcakes that I expected to look perfect. They eventually re-frosted the ones that were damaged, but I didn’t appreciate the attitude. I’m surprised that they were willing to have their name attached to less than perfect looking cupcakes. Will not be returning. Poor business practices.

We ordered cupcakes for my sons birthday. We kept the order simple by using their daily flavors. We ordered in advance and scheduled a time for pickup. At pickup, we had to wait 20 minutes because the order wasn’t ready. I also had a jumbo cupcake made as a smash cake and after attempting to get it right 3x, it was boxed up and we went in to our party. This jumbo cupcake would not stand up on its on, just falling over if left on its own. I had to hold the cupcake upright for the birthday boy. Finally, the cupcakes were very dry and had an excessive amount of frosting. It’s as if the cupcakes were made, frozen and then thawed the day of and then iced. Or they were made a couple days before. The cupcakes were average at best and given that we ordered from a specialty cupcake store, we expected more. One would be better off going to Kroger, Meijer, Sam’s Club or Costco. The quality at one of these places would be much, much better and for half the price. We ordered from here for convenience of the location. We will spend the extra time to go someplace else rather than sacrifice the focal food item of a boy’s birthday!

I had the red velvet cake cupcake and my wife had the Irish Cheesecake cupcake. Both were awesome and the service was both friendly and personable. We had a fabulous time just going in and sharing a quiet sweet-tooth moment together. We’ll definitely be back… and soon.

I ordered 57 cupcakes — Half red velvet and the other half dulche chocolate with a 6 inch Wedding cake. They were very timely getting to my house to deliver. The sad part was we paid a lot of money only to receive VERY dry NO moisture cupcakes and cake for our wedding reception… Very disappointed. My guests even commented on the fact they were so very dry… Will never purchase again. I was also told that they had not heard that before and how could that be? Well, by looking at Other comments this HAS been an issue…

I ordered my sons birthday cake from here! It was super cute and even more delicious! The cake(chocolate and banana) was moist and the icing was perfect! I couldn’t be more pleased with the product I received and the customer service. I will most definitely be a returning customer!

After reading some so-so reviews, I felt compelled to leave a good review. My family threw me a surprise baby shower last Sepember(2012) and ordered cupcakes from here. I’ve never been a huge cupcake person, but I’ll eat it if it’s given to me. These were outstanding! We had the carrot cake, double chocolate, pumpkin, and Irish Cream. All were outstanding, but my favorites were the Irish Cream and Carrot Cake. I’ve noticed some people comment that their purchases hasn’t tasted as fresh later in the day — my recommendation is to do a special order. Ours were fresh, moist and delicious. I highly recommend this place.

Ordered a dozen cupcakes for my husband’s birthday and although the packaging and presentation were lovely, the taste and texture of these cupcakes fell entirely flat. Even when I pre-ordered and asked for their moistest varieties(vanilla-vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, strawberries-n-cream) they all were very dry and tasted like they came from a box mix. The shop is quite cute, however, and the service was friendly, but they seriously need to revamp their cupcakes if they want my repeat business. This side of town desperately needs a killer cupcake shop

I was excited to try this place, as they specialize in cupcakes. I was thoroughly disappointed right when I walked in the door. They had only 3 varieties of cupcakes in the display case and about six of each cupcake. I bought 4 cupcakes, as I didn’t want to be rude. I think they were $ 2.50 each… definitely not worth the $ 10 at all. My money would have been better spent on 2 dozen cupcakes at Kroger. These cupcakes were so dry; no moisture whatsoever. The frosting didn’t taste homemade either. Maybe I caught them on an off day, but that was my first and last visit.

Hit or miss here. I’ve stopped by a few times, and I’ve experienced varying amounts of quality. I think when you go probably plays a big part(it being a bakery and all). I tried the red velvet once and it was AMAZING. Moist and flavorful with surprisingly good frosting(I’m normally not a huge frosting fan). Other times(birthday cake) it has been very dry and overly sweet. Regardless, I will keep trying! The red velvet is calling my name…

My friend LOVES this place and said we had to come here when I visited. It’s a tiny little shop that sells mostly cupcakes, but they also have a few pies and cookies. They also have some gluten free items. We ordered the crème brûlée, strawberries and champagne, and the carrot cake cupcakes. Compared to other places I have been, they are very fairly priced. They are decent sized cupcakes with a good cake to frosting ratio. I thought the cupcakes very very moist(not dry at all), and full of flavor. The crème brûlée wasn’t my favorite, but the other two were very good. I think the strawberries and champagne was my favorite –white cake filled with a strawberry filling and topped with champagne/strawberry frosting. They change 3 of their flavors every day, so you can always try something new. My friend says the margarita cupcake is the best!

Plainfield really needs a good bakery. Unfortunately, this is not it. I’ve held off on writing a review until I’ve tasted a variety and given the place a chance. Every time I try a cupcake, I’m disappointed. They are dry, tasteless, and over priced. We bought 3 today and even my kid wouldn’t eat it! Do yourself a favor — save your money.

I wanted to fair and update my last review since sampling additional cupcakes and cookies from Sweethearts. The red velvet cupcakes we tried since my last review were moist and the icing very creamy. Even the white cupcakes were not as dry as the previously sampled cake. My husband agreed with the improvement especially in the red velvet and chocolate cupcakes. We have since sampled the peanut butter cookies and become big fans. Not sure if the cupcakes tried previously were older or what but we’re certainly fans… especially of her PB cookies.

I really want to love this place. They have a new store front & a food truck, plus this area needs a good bakery, but Sweetheart Cupcakes is kinda pricey for only so-so & mostly unoriginal cupcakes, plus inconvenient hours. Cupcakes are desert & my family & I always say we want cupcakes AFTER dinner(7 or 8:00 or so), but they close at 6:00 every weekday & earlier on weekends, so we go out for ice cream or I make baked goods at home. The normal flavors are things I could totally make at home, so they don’t make me want to leave the house & spend $ 3 each on. I have gotten some interesting flavors on weekends when they have special order leftovers & I thought they were worth the price, but I just can’t spend that much on a vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, etc. cupcake. I hope they continue to do well so they can make more unique flavors & have longer business hours.

Finally… A GREAT bakery in town! I have ordered Sweetheart Cupcakes for bdays, Vday and just because… They are fantastic. I don’t agree that the frosting is too sweet… How can frosting be too sweet??? My favs are the peanut butter, double Chocolate and the red velvet. Excellent and A+++++. So glad to have you downtown Plainfield!!! Your cupcakes are PERFECT! I hope you can expand and maybe start offering cakes as well!
