The Family Soul Spot

Stopped in just to get side of macaroni and cheese and waited 15 minutes. The macaroni comes out in a big container with the smallest portion ever. He told me the macaroni is cut in squares pre portion… i told him that’s ridiculous for 4.00 and yes replies well it’s not kraft… duh smart ass but the amount of butter sitting in it was way more then called for in boxed mac & cheese.
He was also sweating profusely while packing the food wiping the sweat with his clothes. also check out the containers in the front… place needs a goods cleaning and attitude adjusment won’t be back
Pre portioned sides you gotta be kidding me.

We have ordered twice and both times the food was delicious. The fried chicken was crispy, tender and well seasoned. Collards were very well seasoned and not too salty. Yams and Mac and cheese really good too. The staff is very friendly and professional. Our order was ready when they said it would be. Highly recommended!

The food was soooooo good. Tried the shrimp, fried chicken, catfish, greens, yams, rice, Mac n cheese, and cornbread. The owners are so sweet and have found customers in us for life!

I love this place. It’s a family owned small spot in Plainfield, that’s reasonably priced. There’s nothing fancy about this place, but if you’re looking to get great food, this place is great! They also have a large variety of dishes on the menu, which I appreciate. The staff is very friendly, and they take the time to get to know their customers.
Anytime I need my soul food fix, I drive 30 minutes to this place to get it. I have soul food spots closer to my home, but they don’t compare to this place. I have tried the macaroni and cheese (my favorite), the candied yams, collard greens, and fried whiting. I have never been disappointed with any of those dishes. The fried chicken needs a little more seasoning, but still has the perfect amount of crunch. I also really like the half and half drink. The only issue I have is that the place is cash only. It can be an inconvenience, but other than that this place has delicious food.

Best mac n cheese in all the land. I crave it on the regular. Ribs, oxtail and all the sides are amazing, too. Owners are warm and friendly. It’s so hard to find good soul food, so please support and keep them in business! Def worth a trip to the hood.

Stay away from the ribs, very tough! Potato salad had to much celery seeds. Black eye peas ok with the rice.

This is a nice small soul food restaurant that has excellent food and dishes. I eat here on a regular basis. The fried whiting fish, the baked tilapia, as well as the turkey wings are delicious. The cabbage and macaroni and cheese are excellent. Nice desserts such as cakes, peach cobbler and pies. Definitely visit this establishment when in the area.
