Clean, quiet and homey you’ll be pretty hard pressed not to find something on the menus here that you’ll enjoy. There are daily lunch and dinner specials and I’ve had breakfast here several times and have never left hungry. One of the favorites of mine is the Rocky Point Clam Chowder and clam cakes. For those of you who are not a fan of Manhattan chowder both New England and Rhode Island clear broth type are also available and not to be missed. Prices are very reasonable and despite the lamentations of some reviewers here I have never experienced a problem with the service. In fact the owner herself makes it a point to greet you or at least make an appearance at your table to ensure things are satisfactory. This place should not be missed and I highly recommend it for breakfast on one of those lazy days you just want to fill up on a hearty stack of pancakes or a delicious omelet.

My boyfriend and I went to this diner for brunch last week. Overall, the food was warm and very delicious. I got chicken tenders and fries and my boyfriend got blueberry pancakes and home fries. However, the service wasn’t that awesome. We were only one of a few people in at that time but we waited close to 35 minutes from the time we walked in to the time we actually got our food. The waitresses weren’t very attentive and were nowhere to be found most of the time. There was also a woman near us that ordered food to-go previous to coming in and she waited a very long time as well, and was clearly agitated. Although the place was pleasant and had a very homey feel, I don’t think we’ll be going there again.

have been ten times in12 weeks for breakfast… all but one time the cook sent raw bacon, burnt bacon, cold potatoes, burnt potatoes and on and on… we like going for the good wait staff… my wife finally said lets go elsewhere… even though we look forward to seeing what new and strange way the cook will find to screw up was is the easiest meal to cook… I say easy because we go at about 630 to 7 m when its 1 other table the wait staff and the cook… my favorite f. k up was brushing clarified butter on the toast … cook even admitted it to the waitress after I asked if it was phaz because the toast looked like it was brushed with veg oil… close second was toast so soggy you could not pick it up without folding like a pancake

Went to the diner this afternoon and ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a grilled English. As I sat at the counter drinking my coffee I watched the cook drop the English muffin on the floor pick it up toss it on the grill for a few seconds than back on the plate what a way to do business well I spoke with the owner told her what happened and thanked her for the free coffee and walked out

Just ate at the«Olde American Diner» this evening… well kind of ate anyway… Absolutely pathetic! Clueless service… terrible food… I know, lets let a new waitress, with the personality of wet cardboard, without a clue wait on patrons… screw everything up, and not have the owner, who was there, check back to see the result… Guess she was too embarrassed? If you work for a living, and decide to eat dinner here. good luck!! You must have a lot more $$ than us to blow on eating out! Continue 4/10ths of a mile, up the road to the fast food chain restaurant and you’ll be better off!

Just finished a delicious waffle topped with strawberries and bananas.(okay — with whipped cream) coffee is good, however the Service is excellent. Nice menu for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Not too far off 395 — exit 32(old exit 87) When I’m back in this area, I’ll be back to try the pancakes — 30 different varieties to choose from.

We went for lunch on Columbus Day. There wasn’t too many people in there but the service was very friendly. I found there menu to be huge with many choices for everyone. There were lots of specials as well. I got endless soup and salad. The homemade red clam chowder was excellent and the salad was fresh and a big portion. I was too full for a second soup but they let me take one home! That was awesome! Loved it and I’ll e back.

Got the fish & chips with clam cakes lunch special. Very fresh fish, HUGE portion, and the clam cakes(more like fritters) had really good clammy/oceany flavor. Waitress was a smidge hard to find but the service was good when she came by. They weren’t very busy when we went. Overall, I definitely recommend the place, especially if you’re a «Diner Nerd» and love that Americana feel.

Short and to the point. AWFUL. Cold meal after 40 minutes. The waitress blamed the hostess, and then the kitchen. Its eggs and pancakes, right? We were told manager was coming to see us. Another 10 minutes until we decided to walk out. Wasted time. Worst ever!

Let’s not kid ourselves folks, New England is a culinary desert. But I found an oasis– and The Olde American Diner is it. Fresh made biscuits and gravy. The homefries were the best I’ve had in NE. They actually cooked the potatoes on the grill giving them a great texture with crispiness– unlike the canned, boiled food service supplied ones that are reheated on the grill like most other places I’ve tried in NE. The eggs were ordered over medium and behold they came out as such. Fast, friendly service as well. One thing that struck me as a really cool aspect was the owners mission/vision statement on the menu. That’s class– and big congratulations on your dream,…it’s obvious you are making it happen. I DONOT hand out many five star reviews-check my post history– so when I do,.you know I mean it. I will definitely be back.

This is the old gentleman farmer restaurant under new ownership since Aug 2013. Great place! Saturday breakfast was fantastic. Homemade English muffins and biscuits and the best eggs Benedict we’ve ever had, the staff all very friendly and the place clean. Will definitely be back next chance we get. Prices very reasonable as well.

All around nice family restaurant. Prices here are super reasonable. Very wide menu. Clam cakes were great but the chowder was a little heavy on potatoes and light on clams. Will definitely be back sometime.
