Better than DC cupcakes and a thousand times better than Hanish in Red Wing. Worth the drive to Plainview… but check the hours, they aren’t open regular business hours

I’m a self declared cupcake snob and connoisseur. I’m also an avid baker. Now that I’ve put all that out there, let’s begin! The shop is hot pink on the outside and can’t be missed. It’s also extremely cramped on the inside, which isn’t the most inviting atmosphere but I think the idea is to pick your poison, leave, devour, sit back in a state of ecstasy, contemplate returning for more. There were about sixteen different types of cupcakes, most of which had a description, but not all, which left us guessing and then asking the owner(Samantha) «What’s this one?» a few times. We got the following: Twinkie(OVERALLGOTTHEBESTRATINGFROMMEANDMYTWOCUPCAKERS), Banana, death by chocolate, strawberry lemonade, German chocolate, caramel sea salt, Miss Natalie, Swedish fish chocolate. Each one has a filling and are all very good. These are not your average box-mix, overly oily/buttery repulsively sweet or gigantic cupcakes. Oddly enough, the cupcake flavors are very creative but don’t come across as trying too hard. Extremely moist, very flavorful, great portion size and not overly sweet. In short: Samantha knows what the right balance is and she can really bake! The cakes displayed inside are pretty as well and the cupcakes are priced well. We ate these cupcakes yesterday and already want to come back for more of the Twinkie. Do yourself a favor and stop in. Cute spot, friendly owner, lots of variety, low prices, delicious cupcakes.
