ShopRite

I went out here on monday ¹⁄₁₁ to pickup cupcakes for my 5 yr olds birthday. I was assured by the bakery manager over the prior weekend that they would have cupcakes on hand that they made in store and i wouldnt have to worry. I spent 45 min in the car traveling from queens out there and i was told by a very discourteous bakery personnel they had none. I was livid, i spent the time traveling out there and they had nothing. I then proceeded to look for a cake and they did not have what my son wanted so i left. Shoprite you let me down in a big way, thanks for nothing,

This ShopRite has gone from one of the best to one of the worst. They should of never renovated. There are always out of stock on everything. Their rotisserie chickens taste like crap. Their sales aren’t that great anymore either. Absolutely the most annoying place to shop.

Being a Syosset native, my go to supermarket is King Kullen out of convenience more than anything else. But when I need to swim in variety, this is where I go. They just have more everything. And not for nothing, but their cucumbers are are always bigger and juicier than KK’s.

I love this Shoprite supermarket! I drive 15 minutes to go here, instead of Stop & Shop on Pine Hollow Road. The lines here are never very long. The cashiers are mostly friendly. The meats are always plentiful and fresh. Prices are much better than other supermarkets. If there’s a product that is out of stock, their customer service will order it. I couldn’t give it 5 stars, because some of the produce is not fresh, especially the organic produce. That is probably, because their customers are probably not into organic produce yet — so it doesn’t sell. For that, I still have to go to Whole Foods.

ShopRite doesn’t exist in most of NYC anymore except for 2 lone outposts in the far reaches of Brooklyn. In the other 4 boroughs, they have either been sold to other supermarket chains or closed because of high rent. The only reason I make the trek is that around the holidays, ShopRite is the only store that carries Cook’s brand whole cured hams, my wife’s favorite. She is very specific and makes the best honey glazed ham. Other supermarket chains that had once carried Cook’s have now switched to Smithfield’s, which just isn’t the same (and much saltier).
They open until 11pm on a Saturday night, so this is the best time to shop as we cruise in at 9pm, carb loaded after a sushi dinner. We park next to the handicapped spots, score again. Grabbing a shopping cart and entering through the automated doors, I zero in on the meat section in the back, passing all the frozen turkeys (who push their carts way too slow and don’t get out of my way). I’m on a mission here, people! Oooh, cookies… Get your head in the game, shopping is not for amateurs!

Good luck trying to find parking — other than that this is an okay location. I don’t like doing my actual shopping here because even with their recent store expansion they’re not stocked with any of the things I like, prices are okay not amazing

Overall: I have no idea why people shop at stores like Stop & shop and king kullen and pathmark when shoprite is around. It must be distance and convenience, because they kill the other guys in so many ways.
Value: They’re cheaper than almost everybody else. Definitely the big guys. Small locally owned places can be cheaper, but I don’t have time to go to 5 different places to get all my groceries.
Cleanliness: I am not sure why I even have to rate this at a place that sells my food, but unfortunately I do. Very clean.
Service: Everyone is friendly, service counter, guys on the floor restocking, deli, and cashiers.
Parking lot: people really don’t know how to park, back out or put carts away. But I can’t fault shoprite for that.

After many a supermarket visits I’ve realized this ShopRite does have some pretty dope deals. Great prices on most items and lots of weekly specials, however get there early bc they run out of the deal items fast! I also found a diamond in the rough… when you walk in look to the left. There are two machines ready to take your deli order. Tappidy tap your little order in and it will give you a time when it’ll be ready (note: it almost always says 60min, but never takes that long). When you arrive at the deli section there’s a little fridge to the left with your meats. No waiting at the deli line makes me a very happy man. I should probably give an extra star for that, but the parking lot… ohhhh the horror. Seriously, the worst. Small, poorly designed, carts everywhere, yuck.
Protip: avoid on Monday mornings. Serious crowd.

I hate this place! The people are rude, it’s always crowded, parking sucks, aisles are small. It’s literally always crowded. Once someone ran my foot over with a cart, didn’t even apologize. People put their carts right in the middle of the aisle and don’t move the carts when you say excuse me. It’s very frustrating.
I only go here if I absolutely have to, but I would much rather go to Stop and Shop or King Kullen — the prices are a little more there but much much less aggravation and rude customers!
One good thing — the fruit and veggies are generally good and fresh.

Have you ever abandoned your cart and left tge grocery store? Neither have I, but I got very close to checking that off my list at this poorly laid out Shoprite. The parking lot is terrible. Once finally inside, there were a lot of people bumping into each other. In he back, the diagonal freezers cause near-​chaos. By the deli there was a true traffic jam, no getting by. I left withput getting everything on my list because I was so frustrated. I usually really like Shoprite but this one is on my no-​shop list.

Shoprite has great deals, but this location is just inconvenient in so many ways. The aisles are tiny, it’s always crowded, the parking lot is a shark tank, and the cashiers seem disgruntled. I buy whatever I can at Trader Joe’s and only come to this Shoprite when I absolutely have to.

This place is a major grocery place for ppl living in plainview, hicksville and syosset. I know ppl who go out of their way so they can shop at shoprite. Its located behind a strip mall. The prices are reasonable and the staff is mostly helpful. The major problem this place has is that its very small. It does not have room to accommodate the amount of customers it has. Especially on the weekends. There is literally no place to park. Once you find parking there is no room to move around once your in especially with a cart. There are people on your left, right, front and back. Youre literally rubbing shoulders with other customers. They now have an organic produce section that i like since we mostly buy organic produce. You mostly find everything and anything here. I just wish there was more room to move around and peacefully do your grocery shopping. Overall its a decent store with good pricing.

I love Shop rites, but I HATE this location. There are SO many people all the time, always crowded. No one has any consideration for other shoppers and roam the aisles aimlessly, leaving their carts everywhere, getting in the way of people like myself who know what they need and just want to get in and out. I want to like this store because it’s large with a ton of food, but I can’t bring myself to shop here when I walk out so frustrated every time I try.

I’m a borderline super-​couponer nut so I love the manufacturer coupon doubling up to $ 0.99. ShopRite has their famous Can Can sale with super cheap canned goods so you can stock up for the year. I spend too much time researching the best deals and comparing flyers and I can tell you that ShopRite has the best deals in the area by far.
I’m nocturnal so I love that this Shoprite is open 7AM-​11PM, 7 days a week. I only go after 9PM because the parking lot is regularly filled with lunatics that will fight to the death to be 10 feet closer to the entrance. The same lunatics fill the inside of the store during the day which is why I like having the place to myself later in the evening. If you do have to go during the day I recommend parking around the back near the loading docks to avoid the insanity of the parking lot.

It’s in a very pretty location in the middle of a shopping complex but why can’t they have any decent produce or make the aisles wider? Also, why can’t they make Shop Rite more of a user friendly grocery store in general? We don’t ALL want to spend the rest of the day waiting for Grandma Moses to get her sugar off the shelf. Nor do we want to stand in long lines outstretched past eternity.
Could we also make parking better here & allow for easier entrances/​exits? Are these things just too much to ask for?

Produce department needs work, I’ve seen better produce at Gristedes
Store layout is weird in the rear by the meats
The aisles are too narrow for the large carts they’re using — I’m not sure it’s the aisles, I think the carts are too big for the store
Slow deli staff (why are supermarket deli clerks always so slow??)
I wish:
They had full-​fat Fage yogurt in the standard «small» container, my toddler son loves it

This is a clean store, they have great sales. The owner is amazing! He is running around the store, talking with customers, making sure everyone is happy. He never rests. If he is not at this store, he will be doing the same at the Old Country Road Shoprite. If he does not carry something you want, he will order it for you and have it in the store permanently. He once went in the stock room and opened boxes to try and find me a particular Teriyaki sauce. The employees are friendly and professional. They are slowly beginning to get more vegan food products on the shelves. I was really pleased with this.
I read the negative reviews on this location, the parking lot is a nightmare, however, you can park in the front lot by the other stores. Also, most of the rude customers should be slapped, they are rude to the other customers and to the poor staff who have to put up with it, because if they say something back to the customer, they will lose their job. Of coarse the rude customers know this, that’s why they know it safe to run their mouths when they wouldn’t on the street. However, this should not be a reflection on the store, the owner or the employees. They have no control over it.

From Food Town to ShopRite this is where my family comes to get groceries. In the past 23 years I can remember going to this place they’ve added sushi, electronic deli ordering and quite an extensive organic/​vegan section.
The grocers here range from 14 year old, «it’s my first job» to the 60+ veteran ShopRite-​er. I do love this place. Try and come during, «off peak» hours as mornings and evenings can get a bit nuts. Also, don’t EVER, EVER come here the day before Thanksgiving, the day before Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve, or really any holiday. You could lose a few teeth when these Long Island mommas come looking for their last minute groceries!

Hate this location with a passion!!! …Yet I love the location in Commack and wish that the aisles in this store weren’t a clogged mess with displays and peeps thinking that they own the world so they can just leave their carts in the way!
Between the parking lot nightmare (the whole shopping center is a JOKE) and the aisles I try and avoid this store, but will hit it on occasion since it is convenient on my lunch hour… and everytime I do I’m reminded why I avoid this location like the plague!
If you’re going here, pack patience make sure you wear your best clothes since it’s filled with snotty people who will look down at you if you only have a 20 in your pocket and don’t drive a beemer!

this Shop Rite has narrow aisles an odd shape to the deli section with clogs of wagons.
I needed kosher meat (chop meat, chicken etc) and I will say this, shop rite is the place for decent selection and prices. though could you please put the kosher dogs right near the other dogs. Spent 10 min trying to find them even the workers directed me to the wrong dogs.
(I make a point to drive the 13 min to the Commack Store Wide aisles, friendlier service better parking, I could go on)
