I’m sincerely hoping that when they complete the new store, the quality of the produce will improve. It’s hit or miss when you shop the produce dept. Nothing seems fresh. I bought a bag of cherries yesterday. Half of them were rotten. This happens with MANY items. I try to shop at Fairway for all my produce now.

I come here when I’m in the area on business because it’s a great source of kosher prepared food. They have a kosher deli under Star K supervision, and the food is usually pretty good. The guy in charge, though, leaves much to be desired, and his attitude is as if by getting your order, he’s doing you a favor. Dude, it’s your job, for crying out loud. Why should I kiss your a-​s because you scooped some chopped liver and cole slaw into containers? Parking is an atrocity here; the UN should intervene, it’s so bad, and they don’t usually get involved in anything. The grocery selection is decent, as well.

Miserable. It’s really the only word I can used to describe it. Today was so awful, I had to write this review. Also, you could basically copy and paste this review for the Woodbury location which has all the same issues and I was there today too. (Yes, I had to visit both shoprites today. I’m surprised I survived)
First of all the parking lot is out of control. Do not even attempt at coming here on a weekend. You simply can’t park and can barely drive through the parking lot. I spent about twenty minutes trying to escape this labyrinth of hell.
The store is so poorly designed. When it’s crowded, you can barely maneuver your cart through the aisles. I’ve been hit and pushed by people’s trying the wield their carts around. There’s a small lobby where everyone jams up and then the entrance is crowded with items.
The deli department is crowded (unless it’s a Tuesday night) but the deli people are always working hard to get through the massive crowd. I use the deli order system, which is easy and I can pick up my stuff in about twenty minutes.
The aisles are jammed and small. You can barely get two carts next to each other and people end up smashing their carts.
The meat selection is pathetic. They only have Tyson or Purdue chicken. Other meat, like red meat and pork, is pretty cheap, but I can’t get decent chicken here.
Just a tip Greenfield, during busy times, hire more baggers. It will cut down on lines. Watching these old women struggle to bag 1700 cans of crushed tomatoes killed me.
I know people travel far and wide to come to shoprite for its supposed excellent prices, but honestly, it is not worth the headache. If you do venture here, don’t even bother on a weekend or you’ll end up pulling your hair out.

The store as been renovated and expanded. I am not totally happy the way the store is set up. It is a little confusing and can be hard to locate certain items. I like that they carry more specialty items.
Staff are courteous and well trained.

I enjoy getting my groceries from Shop Rite they always manage to have what I need as well as having amazing deals. The store itself is a little hectic with items scattered throughout the store so finding things become an issue at times. The parking is always terrible as people is always going in and out this busy store so it’s smart to come in early and try to be there early as it does get worst as the day progresses.

This is a very convenient and servicable grocery store. Brian G nails it about the clientele who will manage to hog the aisles and take forever to choose something even if you are polite and ask to move around them.
That said; they have improved their produce and deli over the couple of years I have been visiting on business trips.
Parking can get busy but there is usually a space. Note that if you have to go East on OCR, you’ll need to either exit the parking lot through Chase (tricky) or just go through the parking lot and there’s a side street exit that you can turn (right) onto and then left onto OCR. The light takes forever, but it works.

Oh, Shop Rite. The community grocery store full of old Jewish ladies who manage to make one shopping cart block three aisles all at once. Shopping at Shop Rite on a Sunday is a full-​contact sport. You need a physical with a signed permission slip to hip-​check people out of your way.
It’s kind of charming in a crazy, «move, bitch, get out da way» way. The bad news is that people are SO SLOW moving through this store. It’s the same people every week, and they move as if they’d never been there before. The parking lot is a disaster area. It’s such a huge lot and yet it’s always a struggle to find a spot without wanting to cut people. No one looks as they back out, for some reason. It’s like the ramp to the parking lot is a portal to a retirement community in Florida.
The prices, however, are good.
A perfect example is the Tyson Shortcuts precooked chicken. A 9 oz. package here is $ 3.99, often on sale for $ 2.99 (That’s when I stock up). The King Kullen in Bethpage charged $ 6.50!
Also very nice is their ready made section. The salad bar is always stocked and fresh, and the hot food is very nice, especially for the price.
I think this is what Christina Aguilera was referring to when she sang «Thanks for making me a FIGHTER-​UH!»

While the prices are very good here and the store is large and clean the parking lot scene rates 1 star or less. Not the lot itself but the drivers who use it. seemingly unable to park within lines, ignoring pedestrian crossings, and speeding down the aisles are just part of the problem. I park behind the stores and walk a little to avoid the dimwits.

This is a review for this Shop Rite
as much as I am torn about the stars I feel in the end they deserve 2 maybe 3 but today was a ROTTEN packed store day and especially miserable parking day.
I came here today because it was on the way home
and they sell kosher food
as in fresh kosher meat and they do have kosher in their deli department
the store is always filled with an excellent assortment of groceries
they always have what you are looking for
the managers are very friendly and helpful
I hate the parking lot with a passion
what is wrong with the people of Plainview? they honk, they yell, they think they are all that. The honk at young and old and will fight tooth and nail for a parking spot
if you need kosher and you love Shop Rite hit up their Commack store all the same with better aisles and non of the Plainview parking drama

As far as conventional supermarkets on Long Island go, this ShopRite happens to be one of the better options. Along with the ShopRite on South Oyster Bay Rd and in Uniondale, this is one of the three ShopRites that I frequent. I happen to like ShopRite as the prices are low, the staff is friendly and efficient, and the store, while old, is well maintained. If you enter the store in a counter-​clockwise fashion, you will enter the produce section, which is well stocked and usually has decent quality produce, which seems to get better each time in my opinion. I have purchased red and ripe vine tomatoes, bananas that are the perfect texture and reasonably priced at .59/​lb, and Fresh Express Shreds Shredded lettuce, which is reasonably priced at $ 1.99/bag and .20 less than Waldbaum’s. On the left side of the produce department, there is a Deli department with an excellent selection of prepared foods and cold cuts (including Boar’s Head) as well as a bakery and seafood department, which I have not used. The grocery aisles comprise most of the store past produce and there are cold cases lining the back walls. Speaking of this back area, in addition to regular meats, there is also a large selection of kosher meats, including Empire Kosher Ground Turkey, which is sold at a lower price per pound than other stores, such as Fairway. Speaking of kosher products, this ShopRite, along with the one on South Oyster Bay Rd have an excellent selection due to the fact that they are located in a heavily Jewish area, making this supermarket an excellent option if you keep kosher. This store also has a great selection of reasonably priced Gluten Free products, which is great for someone like me who is allergic to wheat. Among these products are Food For Life Gluten Free Bread, which is usually priced at $ 5.29 compared to about $ 8 at other stores, such as Stop & Shop, Waldbaum’s, Fairway, and Whole Foods. They also have Snyder’s Gluten Free Pretzels, which are have been $ 3.29/bag versus $ 3.69 at Waldbaum’s and Fairway and $ 3.79/bag at Stop & Shop. Speaking of prices, many of the products here have lower everyday prices than the competition based on my experience and even better sale prices. The store itself, which looks like it is in the process of being renovated (I think repainted?), is older, with old looking floors and aisles on the narrow side, but it is still a clean and well maintained store. In addition, the service at this store happens to be excellent, as they usually have many lines open and the cashiers are friendly and efficient. Overall, ShopRite is a solid conventional supermarket in my opinion as the products and selection are good, the prices are low, and the service is friendly, making it a good option for my grocery shopping needs.

This place is almost always packed with people who don’t care about blocking your progress through the aisles as they feel putting their cart sideways in thin aisles as their right. I thought it was maybe me but many think the same. Maybe it’s the neighborhood but I get in early and get out.
The prices are probably the best around and they have pretty good bargains there on sale items and their bakery and cold cut sections are great.
Overall a pretty good place to get bargains but I try and beat the crowds there.

Shoprite is, by far, the best supermarket in the Hicksville/​Plainview/​Syosset/​etc. area. however, this location is not as good as the Woodbury road location.
i honestly don’t know why people shop at any other grocery store.

I am going to go out on a limb and say this is one of the best supermarkets on long island. Everyone hypes up fairway, but I really think ShopRite is where its at. There is never any parking in the parking lot and there is always a line of cars waiting to park.
They have a crazy huge produce section followed by a huge, awesome salad bar that has everything you could want. Also, by the salad bar they have fresh soups. They also have fresh sushi and 2 sushi chefs in the back preparing everything by hand. They even have brown rice sushi.
The actual store itself is gigantic and you can find things here that are hard to find at other stores. There prices are awesome (especially during the can-​can stock up sale) where you can get cans of food for pennies.

Seems to be the only place to shop in the area. I bump into people from all over LI that drive here to shop. Great prices and specials must be the reason. Good selection of groceries. They need to redo their Organic Veggie section and start offering Healthy Cold Cuts (no nitrates) for the trying to be healthy folk. Expect crowds during peak hours. Parking crazy.

I gave this Shoprite a 2 because although I like the store and the products. They are limited in ethnic foods, ie italian — limited on cheeses and meat too. Now for the store itself, I hate going there, the people of the neighborhood are the rudest I have ever encountered. They block the aisles and when you have to say excuse me 5 times, they give you attitude. I am there to shop not listen to the cookies you made for a bake sale by each ingredient. People get up to the check out counter and while in the middle of scanning they leave to get more items leaving others to wait. Forget the parking lot. I am surprised that there haven’t been more accidents.

After you deal with the tight parking lot old folks waiting to get the closest parking all is ok. I have three favorite Shoprites this one the one in Commack and Linden NJ. This one is not bad shelves are always stocked if not the employees will check in stock room to see if available. Honestly I hate rain checks on the first day of a sale. I love the bakery section may not be the best tasting cakes as compared to local bakeries but always the freshest cakes roll or pies. Ok here we go the sushi bar if I had to rank it alone a 5. Sushi alway fresh plus I have asked the sushi chef to make me rolls not on menu he gladly has or his wife. Deli is not bad lots of premium Boars head products. Has a decent salad and hot bar nothing like the above two Shoprites but for its size it will do.
I wanted lobsters and they charge a additional 1usd a pound to steam so that’s a star off. Other markets in area do for free
They do not have the best produce section. I know few markets that have a variety like a Fairway.
The also do not have a cheese section that’s worth trying.
It can get rather tight in here as of size and volume of shoppers. That’s good as it allows for a fast turnover of products.
It’s a good market for its size nothing extraordinary but overall it has your basics and a few speciality section

Absolutely my favorite supermarket. EVER. Now ShopRite is my favorite grocery chain to begin with, but this ShopRite goes above and beyond that, as it is run by the Greenfield family which stocks the store with specialty foods (esp Kosher which I love). While the store may not be as big as some of the «World Class» ShopRites out there, the shelves are stocked with an increadible variety of foods. The bakery is hands down one of my favorites, the deli always has plenty of fresh foods as well. And the prices here are pretty good as well. Despite this store being busy, I never have to wait long on line and the help is very professional and moves fast. The store is kept very clean as well. I never leave here without an overfilled shopping cart. (which is the ShopRite logo!). The BEST supermarket on Long Island. My relatives out east in Suffolk travel all the way here to Plainview as well. Just wish I was closer, it’s a long bus ride from Westbury, and after I’m done shopping here I always need my relative to give me a lift back!

Tiny tiny Shoprite with a weird, hard to navigate parking lot. Avoid if you can, but sometimes you just need what they have on sale.

Getting into this one is a bit of an adventure since the parking lot is tiny and the store layout is a tad small, especially when people meander about and block the more narrow aisles.
However, some of the sales are very good, their sandwich bread is the cheapest, and they are the only place I know of that puts Blue Bunny ice cream on sale. They also don’t seem to have the same issues with running out of sale items and having their store look like a bomb went off as tends to happen in my local grocery stores. You can walk in on a Saturday and find sale items on the shelves in proper condition. Their circular starts sales on Sundays.

I used to go to Long Island on Fridays with my friend. She usually goes and visits her mom and I tag along with her. We went grocery shopping here and noticed that the prices are really good, compared to the prices in the city. $ 30 worth of groceries would fill up about 4 shopping bags. That would only be about 1 bag here. I usually get things that cost more here like Juice, Eggs and Cereal. The rewards card that they offer is awesome.
