WARNING! Please READ your receipt VERY carefully! There is an 18% «automatic gratuity» included into your bill ALONGWITH an «Additional Tip» request. This gratuity was generously added to my party of three. Very clever(and yet somehow disturbing) that Chocolate Angel still has included the«additional tip» on the receipt for anyone who might have possibly(or hopefully subliminally?) overlooked the automatic gratuity. What? Yes, the automatic gratuity was stated twice on the receipt but I still(unfortunately) completely overlooked it and ended up leaving a whopping $ 15.00 tip! Neither the food nor the service merited this amount.

Cute place! This was my second tea at Chocolate Angel, though my first visit was to the Richardson location. The price you pay and the service you get is truly awesome! The staff was friendly and has a customer-focused attitude. There wasn’t a shortage of staff greeting my party as we arrived and also wishing us farewell as we left. The pace of service was great and I really appreciated how the staff was able to serve us without being intrusive to the activities my table was engaged in. The food was good enough(and plentiful for tea). The ambiance also made it fun and I love the openness that came with the antique shop location. I’ve enjoyed both of my experiences and highly recommend Chocolate Angel to anyone.

Not sure why there are negative comments about the service, because their staff is just awesome. Quick to refill glasses, and take your order and no matter how busy their staff always has a smile on their faces. They work fast and hard to make sure you are well taken care of. We eat here at lunch at least 3 times a month and never experience any problems with the service or the food. In fact we find them very accommodating when it comes to service. This is after all a Tea Room, so they know that you are there to visit and enjoy your meal and not feel rushed. If you have a limited time, just let them know in advance and they will bring your check with the food to move things along. The food is typical tea room food, however, they take it to a much higher level. Not your plan chicken salad, at all and their enchiladas are awesome and full of chicken, as is their king ranch casserole and their tomato soup is wonderful. Be sure to try their flavored tea, it is the best. If you want a good value, great food and a beautiful setting, you need to check them out. And if you hear they are having a «fashion» show and a «high tea», book early it is a wonderful experience. Thanks Sherry to you and your wonderful staff for so many great lunches and fun times!

Love their menu, tried and true Southern staples but the last 3 visits at this location have been so frustrating. Our waitstaff was either stretched too thin or just felt like they had a steady stream of customers to put in an effort into making sure we would return. I usually never tip below 15% but this was one place I can’t justify 20% or better.

I’ve been to the Chocolate Angel off Campbell and I think that one has better service than this one. This one is cool in that it is inside an Antique Mall but they have made it seem kind of outdoorsy with the décor which is cool. Food quality is still the same but just the service takes forever to get the bill and sometimes they forget about you. So that’s not cool. I would rather go to the Campbell location. Still need to check out the one off Parker.

My friend and I came here frequently(twice a month) for lunch because of the location and because we could make reservations. The food was usually pretty good, although there were times when it tasted like leftovers. A couple weeks ago, we made reservations for 12:45PM for lunch. I arrived there at 12:48PM(3 minutes late) and my friend was parking her car right after I walked in the door. The lady who manages the restaurant was outside helping other customers. When she came in to seat me(at 12:50), she told me that she’d already given my table away because we were late(!!). When I told her I had arrived at 12:48, which was under 5 minutes, she told me I was«late» because my friend wasn’t there yet. She then turned to the ladies who came in after me(and did NOT have reservations) that she would seat them next. She was extremely rude, I’ve never heard of a policy where you’re considered late after FIVE minutes(as opposed to 15 minutes), and I will never go back to this place again.

My daughter took me here for a birthday brunch. This is not the original location, but an offshoot in the Antique Mall on Plano Parkway and Hwy 75. They have a brunch buffet, which is $ 18, or maybe it was $ 18.99. It does include tax and gratuity. Not your typical brunch. It included one hot meat, like a roast beef in gravy, mashed potatoes, chicken salad(yum), pasta salad,(very good), their strawberry pretzel salad,(favorite recipe from my mom), green beans,(yum, loved the home cooked taste), broccoli casserole,(very good), roles, scones, pickled beets and salad. A separate table with many varieties of desserts. I was too full for the coconut pie! The food tasted excellent, but I was looking forward to ordering off their menu. They usually have delicious sandwiches and other items. They also had an omelet and waffle station which you could purchase separately for $ 5. The brunch comes with complimentary mimosas, so all in all it was a decent price. They have a guitarist /singer that complemented the place. My daughter asked them to sing happy birthday to me, because she knew it would embarrass me. The service was very spotty, as far as getting tea refills and even getting a final check. But the guy she talked to on the phone came through on the birthday surprise, along with the guitarist /singer which was a nice complement to the place.

Do not eat there if you are on any time constraints. A party of four, Saturday afternoon, arrival time 12:30 exited time was 3:00 pm. We were told it would be a 15 minute wait for a table. That is not unusual for a Saturday afternoon and clearly it was busy. We were seated at our table approximately at 12:50. We did not see the wait staff for another 10 minutes. We gave him our drink order and looked over the menu. I had to go and get him after a considerable amount of time and him waiting on the tables around us to tell him we wanted to place our order. We waited again for several minutes before he appeared. We did not get our order until 2PM and that was after we had to go up to the register to inquire on it. He came around halfway through our meal to apologize. We got free desserts, but had to take them with us because we ran out of time. The plan was to eat then go through the shops. It was so late when we finally checked out we had to leave. Then When we had our choice of dessert, they were out of all but two kinds. Chocolate cake and brownie chocolate pie. Thank goodness we all loved chocolate! The food was good, but they need to improve the service.

Food wonderful — service not so wonderful! Don’t try to eat there on your lunch hour unless you get 2 hours for lunch! Since Chocolate Angel opened in High Street Antique Mall, I have eaten lunch there at least 8 times. Last week was the worse service I have ever had at any tea room. I hope this was just a fluke. I would really miss their delicious food.

Best desserts anywhere! Food is really great too. When my mom recently visited she made me take her back twice! Make a day out of it before lunch or after by browsing the aisles of High Stree Antique Mall where this location is nestled. Charming staff, great food, just make sure you get there early cause some desserts may run out!

There are 3 locations for Chocolate Angel. I am looking forward to trying out the other locations. Not that I need another«bad» habit… and this place is very, very habit forming. I have been twice in the last several weeks and I can shut my eyes and just imagine the dessert tray, complete with sounds and smells. I have only been for lunch. The menu is classic Lady’s Luncheon fare, done right. They offer several different samplers. I have had the Tea Sampler, with 3 little finger sandwiches, soup, fruit salad and a small scone. I also have had the Angel Trio, where you get your choice of 3 of their main menu items. I had a soup as well as half of two different types of sandwiches(pimiento cheese on whole wheat and the eye-poppingly wonderful smoked turkey on orange-cranberry bread with a cream cheese/cranberry chutney spread). Soup is the often forgotten step child of American Cuisine. Good soup takes time, finesse and culinary focus. Chocolate Angel does soup. I have had soup both times and in both cases the soup was memorable. First was a creamy tomato basil, evocative of what the soup used to be so many years ago when La Madeline was just a single store off the SMU campus, before that brand was franchised and went national. The second trip, I had a chicken tortilla soup. Nothing ho-hum about it, either. And, just in case lunch wasn’t enough to make my taste buds do a happy dance, then they brought around the dessert tray. The first time I went, I selected a 3 –layer strawberry cake, iced with the lightest butter crème frosting I have encountered anywhere in The Metroplex. The cake is served with a large dollop of whipped cream and fresh strawberries. What’s there not to like? Second trip, I opted for the toasted coconut pie. The crust was perfect, the toasting subtle. The pie was good. The cake is what good girls get when they go to heaven. Apparently they do brunch as well as an official tea. I want to try it all. Just give me a bit of time to get it done!
