David McDavid Acura Plano

Wish I could give a negative star rating. Service is an absolute joke. It is impossible to speak to a service rep and nobody returns your messages. Worst service I have ever had from any dealership ever.

I brought my 2012 Acura TSX in to get the AC serviced about two weeks ago after it began blowing hot air. Was told some valves needed to be replaced and also had a complete AC service and recharge which cost a whopping $ 500. A few days later the AC was not working again. Took it back and was told a completely different story — now the AC evaporator was leaking and needs to be replaced costing almost $ 2k! It’s mind boggling how this was not discovered on the initial visit after spending so much money and the service department claiming they did a compete AC service. Also after talking to several other mechanics, I’ve been told that an issue like this should not happen on a 4 year old car and if the dealership had really done a complete AC service there is no reason why they would have missed the leak as they put dye in the system and it identifies where leaks are. I paid this dealership to identify and fix a problem on my car and that was not done on my initial visit nor was I reimbursed for any of the previous money that I paid since clearly they did not do the job they claimed they did. I do not trust them to do any other work on my vehicle. I have also never had this issue on any of my other non Acura cars. My husband left a message to speak with the service manager Josh and he never even called him back. Bad business practices and client service.

This dealership has ZERO mechanics that can work on Acura cars. With this being an Acura dealership, it is appalling that there is no one that is competent enough to work on these cars. I would suggest never bringing your Acura car to this dealership for any repairs. My car came back to me with more issues than when I brought it in with. NEVER GO HERE!!! Try Goodson Acura in Dallas instead. This place is horrible.

This review is for the service department.
My Acura was having an intermittent issue where the engine would suddenly load power and wouldn’t accelerate again until I floored it, then the issue would go away. I took my car in and explained the issue to the service advisor and waited for the diagnosis. After paying $ 70 for the diagnosis, they call back and say they «think» there is water in the gas tank and for several hundred dollars more they can remove the tank to confirm their theory. I always fill up at the same gas station and same pump so knew this water theory was highly unlikely. So I pick up my car without letting them remove the tank.
Later, when I have more free time, I get underneath the car and do simple visual inspection. What I find is the primary oxygen sensor is clearly physically damaged (the housing around the wiring is badly bent). The flaky electrical connection is causing the problem and after I replaced the sensor, all is good. I would have expected the dealership to have been able to find this issue.
On another occasion, when I took my car in to complain about rattles, one of the service advisors suggested I «turn the radio up louder». Very unprofessional!
On the positive side, they have always provided me with a loaner car when they needed to keep my car for repairs. The Mac Churchill Acura in Ft. Worth did a far better job servicing my car.

This Acura dealership has wonderful car service advisors. They didn’t try to tell me some BS that needs to be done after I had my complimentary multi point inspection like other car dealerships like to do. My Acura TL is ten years old now and in great condition still they said. I have 140k miles on it now and they said it’ll last a long time still if I wanted it to. I’ve been thinking about getting a new suv though but I really don’t like the back of the ²⁰¹⁶⁄₂₀₁₇ rdx right now. When I was in the main showroom browsing I didn’t get bombarded with numerous sales people so that was plus. The one I talked to wasn’t trying to sway me to trade in my car either he just listened to my thoughts about the current acura models they had. They are packed on Saturdays so I would recommend going during the week after work. The dealership closes at 7pm during the week. While you wait for your service the have complimentary snacks and coffee machine with specialty drinks I.e. vanilla lattes. They also do a complimentary car wash as well with any service.

Had one of the worst experience. So we saw a car, test drove it. Liked it, completed price negotiation and did a «deal completion shake hand». Managers goes in for paper work returns back and says sorry «I assumed a wrong car for negotiation and walks away» after 3 hrs of time investment. Kind of rude walking away without any further discussion.

Horrible customer service!!! Don’t waste your time going here. I drive a TSX that I bought at this location. I have only had work and oil changes, filters, etc. done at this location. I do buy tires at discount tire because they are cheaper.
Driving home tonight at 5:30pm, I’m exiting at Preston from GB and my low tire pressure light comes on. I have 3 options. 1) Call Acura road side assistance, it takes 45 minutes to an hour for them to show up. Plus changing my tire. 2) Try to make it to discount tire but they close at 6 (Parker & toll) or 3) head to this Acura shop. So I call Acura and ask to make an appointment to put on my spare. They take the appointment and tell me no problem. Come now.
I show up less than 10 minutes later. Apparently I’m a problem. It’s 5:40 and they close at 7pm. When I get out of my car my tire is hissing loudly and half way flat. Nail. The guy says, ok we’ll fix the nail for $ 20. So I reply, no big deal just throw the spare on and I’ll stop by discount tire tomorrow morning. Apparently a big deal. He says, why don’t I just throw some air in it and you can go now. Really, I could barely make it here and it’s rush hour traffic and they close at 6pm! Why can’t they throw my spare on? So almost an hour later they give me my keys with my spare on. (1 hour to put on a spare??) and I get in my car and my spare is low. Oops. Forgot to put air in it. Seriously. Over an hour and they treat me like I’m putting them out. I have Acura roadside assistance– I get it, not the same thing but could they try to be a little nicer. Next time I’m heading to discount tire. They NEVER rush you, stay open late if they need to. They actually open earlier than posted on their door. And honestly they should have told me no, we don’t have time to put your spare on. The waiting room was empty but I guess they were short handed and pissed it’s Tuesday.

Graveyard is better way to define this pathetic dealership with awful used car sales staff with no training on how to handle customers or about their own vehicles. Seating in used car sales side was similar to a homeless shelter. A salesperson (Alaide who was probably a friend of the sales manager burping and telling that she had wings for lunch) should know the expected gas mileage and horsepower at least.
We made a reasonable offer but was refused but I’m glad as we won’t have to go back to this awful dealership. There management really need to visit Parkplace Lexus or Mercedes and perhaps tour with staff.
Be warned and Stay away from this pathetic dealership with dirty cars at display and poor management.

Keith Williams, one of the service heads called me to apologize for the service I experienced and we ended up having a long discussion to how to make amends. I took my car in to get the O2 sensor replaced (and in turn take care of the maintenance lights coming up).Keith personally escorted me through the service and he put me in a brand new 2016 MDX loaner. Have to say, Acura makes good cars and the current edition of the MDX is an example of some fine engineering and drive experience.
Anyways, I will update again after I pick up my car.

Wow no luck with any David McDavid dealerships here in North Texas. Whether it be their Honda dealership in Frisco or this Acura dealership in Plano, both failed to serve me as a valued customer.
I called the service department for a quote on several items for my MDX and left a message for a service advisor to call me back as they were all supposedly busy. None of their service advisors cared to return my call with a quote.
Will not be giving my business to any David McDavid dealership nor will I be referring anyone to them.

It is not my normal practice to post review for many purchases, however I recently experienced a dealership and sales professional that I want to rave about a bit. So here is my story — I just purchased a TLX earlier this week from Gabe one of their sales team leaders — great experience working with him and the entire team. If you want a first rate sales professional to assist you call Gabe — I was on the fence about Acura and after working with Gabe — I was sold! Ask for Gabe he really knows his product and he makes the process completely painless — he is straight forward and he get to the point of the matter — and I really value this approach when buying a car! Well done McDavid Sales team — I am looking forward to my first service experience!

My SUV had a nail on one of the tires. This past Saturday, I came to this service department and asked if they have my wheel-​lock key since I was there 3 months ago repairing the front breaks which were still under warranty. Not only they found the key, they removed the nail and rotated my tires with no charge. They also changed my first oil change which was free anyway. I was there for less than 1.5 hours with no appointment needed. All employees in this service department were very friendly and took care of me very thorough from the moment I arrived to the last minute when the cashier lady walked me to my SUV. This is #1 customer service. They went out of their ways to make me feel like I am their #1 customer. I will definitely returned for my SUV’s next service.
PS: Even though the waiting area is a bit small comparing to other dealers and there is only 1 men’s room in the service area, but I know I can always use the men’s room in the new car’s show room. This did not bother me but I wish they will move to a bigger place with lots of space and a few more restrooms. :)

Consistent gold standard service for me and my family for 10 years straight and three Acuras… I’ll have a fourth next year! Carl Dehls is the best service rep. He understands what customer service is and is the reason I choose Acura again and again!

I usually go to Goodson, but since my new job is in Plano it made more sense to to go to McDavid. I scheduled using their online texting, which made it easy. Customer service was excellent, their facility is a little older and need of refurbishment. But overall a nice place to sit and get my work done while I waited.

I think this place was built at the same time as Epcot center! Compared to the other «luxury» dealerships in Plano, this place is a dump!
Their salesmen were pushy, and when we ultimately turned them down, the manager came out and tried to explain that the color of RDX we wanted was in too high of demand for them to get closer to true car pricing.
We were happy when we took our business elsewhere.

Terrible customer service. My wife called to book an appointment and they talked to her in an inappropriate manner. Will never go back. I get my Acura serviced at another dealership and decided against buying a MDX. 48k mistake…
Update: The GM Josh contacted me to apologize for the lack of service I received in the past and invited me back. He is the new service manager, so I may consider visiting them in the future to see if things have improved.

Had a great service experience with them on my 2015 TLX! They were friendly and even earlier than when they said it would be done. Great waiting area and always a good experience.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE NEW CAR SALES DEPARTMENT:
I was in the market for a small SUV, and had nothing, but disappointing results from 3 dealerships. When I went to the 4^th, I found a car that was okay, and considered getting it just because I was over the whole process and the anxiety that came with it. I have always liked Acuras, but for some reason never test drove one. After doing some research online, and seeing positive reviews, we headed to McDavid Acura in Plano.
I will admit, I was a little on the defense due to my past experiences, but when we walked over to look at the model on the lot, we were approached by a friendly, calm, salesman named Gabe Sotelo. I told him that I was there for the special, and he gave me the details as we walked inside. He gathered some information about what I was looking for, told me about the car, and then we took a test drive. Gabe was very thorough with pointing out the features of the car. The test drive went great, and I decided I liked the car. When we returned to the dealership, he told me the process, which was non-​pushy and professional. The next day he called me back with my options, and we were able to come to a mutually beneficial agreement. Again, there was no pressure, just honest advice.
I went up to sign the paperwork that evening, and although Gabe left early, he arranged for his colleague Mark to handle the next steps. We were greeted by name when we walked in, which is always appreciated, and I completed the application. We later met with the finance manager to sign the paperwork. I set up a time to pick up the car the next evening. That next morning, I had some questions about the paperwork, and my concerns were quickly addressed, no questions asked. When I arrived that evening, to pick up the car, we were again met with the amazing hospitality of Gabe and the team.
Gabe took the time to show us the service department, and a more in depth overview of the car. Before we left, the store manager came out to say hello and ask us about our experience.
McDavid Acura truly cares about their customers because they want to build a relationship. Where other dealerships played games, each person at McDavid was personable and professional. I truly appreciate the making my experience so positive.
If you are anxious about the experience, I urge you to go see Gabe at McDavid. The whole process is stressful enough, but he will guide you through and give you your options. Even their initial numbers that they gave me were not outrageous. I know that they are in business to make money, but they know that they will make more money over time by treating their customers right.

This is a review for both the Used car sales department and the Service department.
I had a great experience at in both situations.
I bout a used TL from Amir, nice guy, fairly strait forward, (for a used car salesman) the vehicle was perfect. I have had it 8 months and it is still perfect. Great certified used warranty.
Secondly, I have had my oil changed at David McDavid Acura and it was a great experience. Less than $ 40 for a full synthetic oil change is a fantastic deal. I have paid up to $ 80 for the same. The customer service is also top notch and they really go the extra mile. You can tell the culture is to treat customers with extra care. I also felt like everything was above board. My only negative comment was that the oil change took a long time. The place was busy and I waited over an hour, however at that price point it was well worth the wait. There was no unreasonable upselling. Highly recommended.

Holy cow they promised me an oil change will take 1 hour and it’s been freaking 2 hours. Talk about under deliver… won’t be back
Update: right when I came into the check in desk to ask why my car was not ready, they called my name over the intercom to pick up my car. This is 2.5 hours after I have dropped it off. Kudos to the service advisor, Isaac to recognize that I’ve been waiting for 2.5 hours and offered me a refund. However, it doesn’t help that the service department failed to deliver their claim that my car will be ready in less than 60 minutes as stated on their board in the waiting lobby. Not a good way to impress a new customer.
