Stopped in for first time yesterday. Small little place that can easily be overlooked. We were warmly greeted and seated. Pretty large menu, but I love street style tacos and they did not disappoint! I had one barbacoa on corn tortilla, excellent! Tender and juicy. One beef tongue on corn, wonderful! Soft and rich! And a pastor on flour, not my favorite, will get carnita next time! I had all my tacos with the added lettuce, pico, sourcream and cheese, made them perfect! Tortillas are not homemade, but they are really good! My husband had the steak burrito loaded and it was also delicious! Food is served with three sauces, two greens and a red(really hot), and we loved them all, and you can use as much as you want, combine them to make it perfect for you! Salsa was really tasty, fresh and cilantro flavorful. Great prices, two can eat for under $ 20 and you will be stuffed! We will return!

Love love love this place! Amazing tacos(breakfast & lunch), even better service(the AM waitress is as sweet as she is attentive) and my favorite salsas around! The creamy jalapeño cilantro sauce is SO on point, you’ll want it on everything!

Went for Sat. lunch and family ordered a variety of items. The chips and salsa was good. The chips were crispy and not greasy. The salsa was fresh and tasty. The service was good. Got the Chicken Flautas again. The flautas were nice and large with tons of chicken in them. The Chicken was in large chunks and I wish it had been shredded a little more. The Bro got the Cheese Enchiladas, and said they were o.k., nothing special The others got a variety of the street tacos. All were good.

BEST breakfast tacos!!! I always call ahead to make an order and it’s usually ready right when I get there. Bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast tacos every time. I think on weekdays they cut off their breakfast tacos at a certain time. But on weekends, you can get them all day! The staff and owner are also very nice.

My friend turned me onto this place a few years back and from my first visit on I’ve been nothing but impressed! The food is always good, it’s all hand prepared, and the owner is always there to greet you with a smile! To anyone who have this place one star due to slow service I have two things to say. 1. It’s a family owned and operated restaurant with two cooks on a busy day so no crap it’s gonna take a bit longer. 2. I’d take quality over quantity and speed any day, you want speed go to taco bell and enjoy the earth shaking bowel quakes that result from your chaluparito combo supreme or whatever the dog food meat cookers sell these days. I’ll take Dona Mary’s over fast food any day!

Very slow, poor, confused service. Only a few other tables were filled and it seemed everyone’s orders were taking REALLY long. The manager/owner? kept apologizing and questioning who took our order, who said they were going to get out to-go boxes, etc. The food was sub-par at best. With so many other fabulous choices, I will not be returning here.

Some of the worst service I’ve ever received. We came in on a Friday night when it wasn’t busy. Had to flag down waitress to order. Waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, we called the owner over to have him check on our food. With about four tables with patrons, they hadn’t even started making our food! So, we got up and left without eating. The owner was bullshitting with and glad-handing everyone the entire night instead of doing his damn job. Will never ever return.

I’m reading all these good reviews for this place, and it’s like everyone else went to a different restaurant. Horrible service on a slow night for the restaurant. They were taking so long we just left without eating. If I could somehow give this place negative stars I would.

Excellent food! I ordered a burrito and it was delicious. Most good mexican restaurants have quality meat. Their quality meat is exceptional. Their salsa was delicious. My mother ordered a tostada and sopes. I tasted both and they were fantastic. I’m recommending this place to everyone I know. Superb!

I had the cheese enchiladas and they were amazing. The staff and owner were super friendly and made sure we were happy with the service and the food. Since it was our first trip we got sopapilla’s on the house, then they were the best I’ve had in a long while. Highly recommended. Hidden gem.

Nice casual dining. We asked the server if they serve halal food. She replied yes, and also they have a halal certificate behind the counter. They charge an extra dollar or two for serving halal meat which is not mentioned on the menu. Our server was very nice and courteous. I ordered beef fajita, it was really tasty! I would recommend this place for authentic mexican food!

Casual atmosphere and very friendly owner. He came in and from the doorway spotted that we had no chips on the table and immediately went to take care of it. We had the breakfast tacos, breakfast burrito, and the pancakes. All were tasty. I was particularly surprised by the pancakes — super fluffy and such a bargain. The tacos are a bit on the greasy side but still very good. Authentic Mexican food.

This little hole-in-the-wall place has some of the better tacos I’ve tasted in Dallas. Went in for lunch one day and got shrimp, steak, fish, and carnitas tacos on a mixture of corn and flour tortillas. Loved each taco but I’d say steak was my favorite. The tortillas had good texture to them and the meats were all seasoned well and they were reasonably priced! For starters they give you the usual chips and salsa and although I’m not a huge fan of the chips they use, I did like the salsa. It had a nice smokey flavor to it and just the right amount of kick. I’ll definitely be back for more.

This is a mixed review. The first time I came here was for breakfast and everything was great. The tacos were fresh and hot. The house made salsa had loads of flavor and heat. The pancakes were some of the best I have ever had. The owner was extremely nice and he made sure we had everything we needed. I would give it 5 stars. Now we come to today. Owner isn’t here and everything has fallen apart. It took 30 minutes to make my breakfast. Part of my order was made Incomplete. When i asked about this it took another 15 to make it right. I asked for some butter several times only to be told almost 20 minutes later they were out. In summary if the owner is there you will have an amazing meal. If he is not then it would be best to just leave and go someplace else unless you have a good hour to kill.

So, I looked at the reviews before we went here for lunch. I did mention that it was our first time but we did not get free sopapillas. The food was very good and authentic. I would have given it a higher rating but my wife did not like the cleanliness factor. I enjoyed the chips and excellent salsa. There were some items on the menu that you don’t see on most Mexican menus. I will certainly go back but I may have to go alone. I don’t think my wife feels the same way.

I am sure the food is delicious, but after an hour of waiting for the food, my family and I left hungry and disappointed. The owner was obviously flustered and all the wait staff overwhelmed. He was very apologetic and appeared genuine. They may want to reconsider their business operations when they are full on a Friday night, but maybe we just caught them on a bad night… I wish I would have tasted the food… maybe next time!

Best authentic Mexican restaurant around. Salsa is fresh, agua frescas come in one size — huge as they should to wash down the spice of one of their three sauces — not your typical taqueria sauces either. Tomatillo looked roasted instead of boiled, jalapeño was creamy and had a kick and the red sauce had tremendous spice and depth. Large menu features the classics that you would expect. Friend went with tacos, not the mini ones you find at Fuel City, and only 1.25 for corn, 1.50 for flour. If you don’t like tacos with your cilantro(I do) tell them or else you’d think they mistook it for lettuce. I opted for the huarache regional. A generous portion of skirt steak, covered in fajita style onions, jalapeños and bell peppers and sliced of fresh avocado. The huarache itself was cooked to perfection and didn’t leave me stuffed. This was $ 7.99?! Could have turned it into two meals. This was my first time and I can not say enough about the place. No frills, friendly staff, owner stopped by and asked how everything was and said goodbye as if we were family when we left. Unless you have to have a margarita with your meal, BYOB to this gem and drive past Casa Mama. I will become a regular here when I’m in town.

I didn’t hold out much hope for Dona Mary looking at the outside and the inside but the food and friendly service made up for that. Dona Mary is a BOYB restaurant tucked into a small corner strip mall in east Plano that serves up authentic Mexican food. I decided to go for the cheese enchiladas with chicken and sour cream sauce. It comes with a side of rice and beans. As you can expect, chips and salsa were bought out and I enjoyed both. The cheese enchiladas were stuffed and smothered with plenty of tasty sauce and sprinkled with cheese and there was a big pile of rice and beans. Now, I’m a large guy and I was stuffed. I didn’t even bother mentioning it was the first visit to get the free sopapillas. Our server was a friendly guy who kept coming back to ensure we were ok and whether we needed anything else. Overall, expected not much, left happy looking to come back to try some different menu items. Some of the booth seats were in a bad state of repair and could be a little cleaner, but I guess it adds to the character. It certainly hasn’t frightened me away from wanting to come back.

Hidden gem! great authentic food at a reasonable price. Served fresh(so it takes a little longer to prepare). For those who observe halal/zabiha, this is available upon request!

Been here several times now. Basic hole in the wall Mexican food joint. Except that the owner is always out on the floor asking if you need anything, helping with the menu. Burritos are large and filling. Huarches are their signature dish… Never had one so I cannot compare it to anytone else. Love the tacos
